WHAT IS THE VALLEY ARTS DISTRICT? 15 block radius is located on the border of Orange and West Orange initially powered by nonprofit organizations, HANDS, inc. and ValleyArts, inc.

Home to an already vibrant artist community, ValleyArts celebrated their 10thanniversary last year, to me that marked the start of a new era, which means us. There are galleries, artist residences, new residences under construction, theater, brands, and more already, great events like The Valley Gala, Brews and Brushes, Don’t Drop the Mic, and political activism.

WHAT ATTRACTED ME TO THE VALLEY ARTS DISTRICT?

From a New Yorker’s perspective, I saw there was a lot of opportunity, and potential ; . here that is not accessible in the “big city”, I would be one of thousands, of aspiring writers in New york but here you can stand alone and build your empire This neighborhood has been around for 10 years but it is still at a very early stage, and still developing in every way, real estate, population, etc. This leaves an open slate to make your mark. This community L R I R U F F | is@artist L R I Rdriven AND F Fand led, meaning it goes in the direction of the people that are active here, so that means we can play a major role in the identity of this town The millennials that are already here are talented, ambitious, energetic and hopefully, today we can cultivate that group as well as expand and grow our network

We are a neighborhood that is on the rise, we have what it takes to be the next trendy “it” neighborhood like Williamsburg, Lower East Side, Ironbound in Newark, Austin, DUMBO and Montclair We can be the face of it because we are bringing the cool edgy vibe that counter acts the older generation the non-profits are targeting and marketing to. diversity in race, age, income which is a good blend for an up and coming neighborhood past initiatives that we can simply make better and cooler (past festivals) we cant change what is in the city’s hands, so what can we do right now to continue creating the buzz?

There is a difference between valley arts, inc. the nonprofit organization and valley arts district the neighborhood. Make the creative industry powered by millennials in orange and neighboring towns stronger, more active, visible, which can lead to paths growth, money, . of career ’ innovative collaborations. The first of the cool here, means the spotlight is on you!

Break up into small groups. Inspired by cities that have benefited from modern music, arts, and cultural festivals, and being how there is no festival for this neighborhood, in your group discuss ideas you have for a valley arts district festival that involves each L R I R U F F | @ L R A Nbrand, D R A Nand D F Ftalent.
