WELCOME Dear ONE HR Family, On behalf of the planning committee, I am delighted to welcome you to the fifth annual HR Summit. The summit provides Maricopa HR professionals with an opportunity to network, learn, inspire, collaborate, and reengage in human resource trends and challenges that cross Maricopa and the HR community at large. The 2015 HR Summit will be held at the Rio Salado Conference Center on October 27, 2015. Enclosed in this program is information about the schedule for the day and the various sessions. Please be sure to review the breakout sessions and determine the session you wish to attend ahead of time. HR delivers the structure and support that allows all employees to focus on Maricopa’s mission to provide access to higher education for diverse students and communities. In order to do this we need to ensure that our human resources system and processes by which to navigate it are designed to best support Maricopa in accomplishing its mission with the vision to be the premier HR system among community colleges. The goal of this and future HR Summits is to help us achieve that vision by providing an opportunity to build and support our community of HR practitioners. Each year we come together to develop and enhance our knowledge base, forge connections across Maricopa, and create renewed energy around our HR pillars, Accountability, Communication, and Collaboration. The theme of the summit this year is “HR SuperHeRoes. This theme recognizes the tremendous impact our work has on the organization. We may not wear capes but the dynamic work we do ensures that Maricopa can continue to provide access to higher education for diverse students and communities. As HR professionals we are putting out fires, assisting employees and citizens of our Maricopa community, and strategically and continually striving toward the greater good. I look forward to seeing you, our HR superheroes, at the summit! Thank you, LaCoya Shelton-Johnson Vice Chancellor FOR Human Resources
