Sport & Recreation

Sport and Recreation focuses on the role of sport and recreational activities in the lives of individuals and communities.

Through the duration of the course, students have the ability to learn theoretical and practical aspects in the context of social and competitive sport, fitness programs and outdoor pursuits.

Students will develop skills regarding maintaining good health, evaluating strategies to promote health and safety, and investigating personal and interpersonal skills to achieve goals through sport and recreational activities.

Working individually, in groups and teams students appreciate the value of active involvement in sporting and recreational activities, contributing to ongoing personal and community engagement continuing into their adult life. Students through the duration of the course, have the ability to obtain both their First Aid Certificate and Boat License.

Activities include:

• Gym • Overnight Hiking Expedition (Year 11, including First Aid Certificate) • Water Safety • Overnight Kayaking Expedition (Year 12, including optional Boat License) • Event Management & Promotion • Coaching and Administration

A course of study in Sport and Recreation can establish a basis for further education and employment in the fields of fitness, outdoor recreation and education, sports administration, community health and recreation and sport performance.
