Its edges are dark purple clay with crazed silver leaf that sparkles in the light. The edging was coated with Diamond Varathane floor finish for extra sparkle and to keep the leafing in place. Silverplated pin back glued, sealed with another piece of polymer clay, and cured a second time for a break resistant bond. Durable, waterproof, fadeproof and lightweight. Signed on the back. Size: 2 1/2" H x 2" W (6.3 x 5 cm). Blue Kimono Polymer Clay Pin $11.25 Blue Kimono Polymer Clay Pin Description This Japanese Kimono Pin has a base of light blue polymer clay with floral design stamped in black ink. Its purple clay borders have crazed silver leaf for lots of sparkle. The edging was varnished with glossy, nonyellowing Diamond Varathane floor finish to prevent the leafing from rubbing off. The goldplated pinback and ribbon are crazy-glued and sealed with an extra piece of PC and fired a second time to create break-resistant bonds on all parts. Signed on the back. Size: 2 1/2"H x 2"W (6.4 x 5 cm).

Note from the Editor This month’s featured paper doll is the Frida Kahlo Paper Doll. Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a Mexican painter known for her colorful, symbolic paintings as well as her introspective self-portraits. Kahlo faced critical health challenges: she contracted polio when she was six and at the age of 18, she was involved in a serious bus accident. Although Kahlo had aspirations of working in medicine, she began her career as a painter while she recuperated from her bus accident injuries. In 1928, three years after the accident, Kahlo reconnected with Diego Rivera, an artist who worked on a project at her school. In 1929, Kahlo and Rivera married. In 1938, Kahlo had a major exhibition at a New York City gallery, where she sold half of her 25 paintings and received two commissions, including one from Clare Boothe Luce, a wellknown magazine editor, journalist, and politician. In 1953, Kahlo received her first solo exhibition in Mexico. Her richly colorful work was influenced by Mexican culture and has been sometimes classified as surrealist; however, Kahlo stated, "I really don't know whether my paintings are Surrealist or not, but I do know that they are the most honest expression of myself, taking no account of the opinions and prejudices of others." While there may be a debate whether or not her work is surrealist, her stunning paintings definitely have had an enormous impact.
