NATHAN JONES It is with so much pleasure that I can finally write ‘Welcome back to Kenilworth Road’ in my programme notes for the first time in two years!
We are going to need you all as we welcome Daniel Farke, his staff and Norwich team who are Premier League in all but status. We know that we are in for a real test this evening, but have already recorded one win against them this season and we can take confidence from that.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT We are so pleased to be able to welcome some of our wonderful supporters back home after all that has gone on in the world over the last nine months. I know it is only 1,000 of you, and there are still 6,000 season ticket holders reading this at home and watching the game on iFollow.
But to have 1,000 here will feel like a full house after so long with just your card-board cut-outs for company, and although it sounds bizarre to say it with only a fraction of our normal crowd in, this has the potential to be one of those famous midweek nights under the lights that we all know so well. The league leaders visiting at a time when that light at the end of the Covid tunnel is getting brighter is something to get excited about. We know that all of you here tonight will act as the ambassadors that we need to persuade the authorities allow more in for the future matches.
Saturday at Cardiff was disappointing, of course. But this group doesn’t make a habit of consecutive poor performances so I know that they will respond in the right way tonight and get us back on the right track. We have been on a good run of form with that being our first defeat in five matches, and although we were still halfway in the table after the final whistle, we feel we should be sitting on a slightly bigger points total having played some great football here against Birmingham in our last home game. We are going to get the odd result where we come unstuck as the Championship can do that. We have to be at our absolute maximum all the time to get results, but overall I’m delighted by the form we’ve shown in what would have been an excellent November if we’d turned last Tuesday’s point into the three it should have been.
We thank you for all your support from home for all of these behind closed doors matches and throughout the pandemic. Buying your season tickets has helped keep the club afloat and everyone here at Kenilworth Road appreciates it. GARY SWEET Welcome back to Kenilworth Road! How good does it feel to be able to write those five words? Before I go into what a landmark night this is, I must welcome our friends from Norwich City for the second time already this season, and third time in little over a year after our pre-season friendly back in the summer of 2019, when the world was a different place. We’re even further removed from that late January day in 2013 when we went to Carrow Road and created history as the first Non-League club to knock a Premier League side out of the FA Cup. The noise from our travelling fans on that occasion, not just when Scott Rendell’s goal went in but throughout the afternoon, still causes a shiver. After the deafening silence over the last few months, it will be magical to hear the din and buzz of a crowd. Tonight, we are peers, and so let’s do ourselves proud yet again! I’d like to officially welcome Gabriel Osho to the club – and in the next breath bid him temporary farewell and good luck during his loan at Yeovil. Gabe impressed us when he helped Reading to their win here last season, and although it’s taken a little while to get him in, we are delighted to add another talent and character to our ranks.
His spell at Huish Park along with Josh Neufville will do them both the world of good in terms of match fitness and more senior experience for one of our home-grown youngsters, so good luck to both lads. What a strange week it was last week? After one of the best performances I’ve seen us play a week ago, we travelled to Cardiff on Saturday to witness one the worst, perhaps the low point of an otherwise decent start to the Championship season. There are no excuses, as Nathan made clear in his post-match interview, but we went from one of our best performances to the worst in the space of four days. We have to be realistic though. That will happen from time to time as we continue to gradually establish ourselves back in the second tier, especially with the volume and regularity of matches in this different season. Whatever the result tonight, it’s not often I would say it takes secondary billing to the starring event – opening our creaky turnstiles to 1,000 supporters for the first time in 277 long, solemn days. Naturally, we always care passionately about our team’s result and performance, and everyone can rest assured that every player and member of staff will be more motivated tonight, by having a few of you inside instead of watching a rotating hourglass icon on your laptop screens. There’s no doubt that our boys will certainly be giving their all for 90 minutes under the floodlights this evening. But tonight’s true spotlight is focused on a thousand of you, acting as ambassadors on behalf of our wider fanbase, and indeed football, to enable 2,000 and eventually more to return home in the next phase or two. For me, the significance of this potential turning point is the most poignant event of the year.

But because of the continued restrictions imposed upon us by our national decision makers, I can only apologise to the thousands who want to be here but can’t, or to those who wish they could be here but are currently isolating. There is simply no selection methodology that would please everyone, so we beg your forgiveness for opting for the longest serving season ticket holders, but given time we are more than confident we’ll be re-acquainted soon.
this town and long may it continue. In so many ways, bringing supporters back to Kenilworth Road is more difficult for us than it is for many other clubs. With our capacity at 10,000 and our season ticket penetration at over 70%, it means we will effectively lose money on hosting limited attendance games with the inability to attract further income from retail and hospitality and the additional cost measures we’ve needed to take to ensure your safety. It’s a cost we simply have to bear, but doing so with absolute willingness and enthusiasm because it is our pleasure to be able to start fulfilling our contractual obligation to seasonal members.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT I would like to pay gratitude to the staff at the club for their immense efforts over the last week, in order to make sure everyone can travel, enter, watch and leave safely. It’s impossible to interpret how monumental the workload has been to make sure everything is set to allow a matchday experience to be enjoyed. I can’t deny the fact that it won’t be and can’t be the same experience, but our staff here are absolutely determined to allow the restrictions imposed upon you to be merely functional leaving you to concentrate on the football.
The location of our ground doesn’t exactly help either. Additional measures and potential restrictions could be imposed if we’re unable to ensure that the narrow streets enroute don’t get crowded.
Oh! We could only dream of working with these challenges at an efficient, well-located and spacious stadium, just like Power Court will be.
You may have read a snippet or two recently about our plans for the new stadium being refreshed. I can confirm that we are way down the line on a planning pre-application for both Power Court and Newlands Park.
I also need to thank Luton Council and the diligence of our Safety Advisory Group. Too often compliance units within authorities are thought of as being unrealistic and over-authoritarian. This is certainly the case at many other clubs but not so here, in Luton. We thank them for their immediate attention when called upon, their pragmatism in reviewing our proposals and their patience in helping us through to this point. No panic needed! Our revised plans won’t take another four years from here, to gain consent. In the next couple of weeks or so we will submit major modification applications for both sites which will see them decided upon by Spring 2021; just a few short months away.
Most importantly, our primary attention in redrafting with our consultants has been to ensure that all independent components are viable,Words: feasibleDan andBriard very deliverable in the immediate future. Market interest is following our progress closely, giving us confidence in our ability to place the order for the hire of the odd crane or two with the attention that we hope to see one in town by the summer of next year.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT Nobody needs to be told or reminded that Covid-19, and the government’s questionable response to it, has totally rocked our world and, specifically, has enforced a rethink in terms of how we respond to a new economic environment and a permanent transformation in lifestyle people will have as we emerge. Upon the sudden realisation of the magnitude of this unwanted disruption in March, we knew we needed to react immediately and definitively to maintain any kind of reality to our schemes; and this is what we have done. With retail, commercial and other relevant markets being permanently damaged, along with a supermarket effectively being taken away from us in planning terms, we have had to make some minor compromises that may initially appear to be a dilution from our original aspirational objectives.
However, we will remain loyal to the development of proud gateway at Junction 10 of the M1; we’ll still enhance our town centre with the stadium development which will see an increase in dwellings, an increase in affordable dwellings too, the River Lea having its lid taken off and even the halo remaining as our spiritual ‘hat’.
We are currently going through the process of showing our new designs to key stakeholders and statutory consultees before we make them public (hence just the teaser images for now). But when we reveal our fresh plans, we will need the backing of supporters and residents again, in the way we will guide you, assuming you like the new plans, of course. Currently, our target date to begin the two-year construction of our new home will be in the first half of 2022 and more detailed stadium designs are progressing very well.
Meanwhile, please keep getting behind the lads, whether you are here as our ambassadors and helping us prove we can safely increase numbers for the visit of Preston on Saturday week, or supporting from home while watching on iFollow. We thank you deeply for keeping the club going, not only with your vital financial contributions through season tickets, donations and shopping online and in our stores, which are now both open again, but your constant messages of goodwill and excitement at being able to come back.

HARRY CORNICK Hatters forward Harry Cornick is looking forward to hearing supporters sing his version of 'Last Christmas' as the turnstiles open again tonight. The 25-year-old was asked at yesterday's pre-match press conference, held on Zoom as is the norm these days, about it being the perfect time of year for the 1,000 returning fans to start singing Wham's famous hit, with 'I gave it to Harry Cornick' as the final line. He replied: "I haven't even thought about that, but I do like Christmas time and I do like that chant. Hopefully a thousand fans can sing it tomorrow. That'd be nice for me...after I score!"

"I don't know how it's going to feel, if it'll be so spaced out. I'm not sure how it's going to work. But a thousand people is better than none, so it's going to be a bit like when we used to play in the Checkatrade Trophy. It'll be similar to that, and back then they came in their numbers and they made some noise, so hopefully they can get behind us and make some noise. "It's always a good atmosphere at home, especially on the night games, so if it can be anything like it used to be, it's going to be a massive bonus to us and can hopefully spur us on."
After nine months without supporters inside Kenilworth Road, since the 1-1 draw with Stoke City on 29th February, Cornick is excited to see fans return, even in small numbers the like of which have been only seen in Football League Trophy ties in recent seasons since he arrived from Bournemouth in the summer of 2017. "It should be good," he said. "It's been a long time - it's been a very long time so we are excited to play in front of them. We've waited a very long time and it's only 1,000 to start, but hopefully if it all goes smoothly then more and more can

In a few short weeks any sense of normal evaporated. The way we live our lives witnessed a seismic shift that nobody could possibly have imagined.
because we love the beautiful game, or winning, or promotions. But because we love the feeling on a Saturday walking up Kenilworth Road with a nervous sense of excitement, we love the people that you know only because you sit next to them every week, we love the clang of the turnstiles as fellow fans mill around with pints and pies.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT Activities that were ingrained in the DNA of how we live suddenly became the objects of risk, and so we entered a stage of our lives containing unprecedented changes to the way that we behave and interact with one another. Changes that seemed to shatter the very fabric of who we are as individuals, communities and society.
The pandemic has impacted each and every one of us to varying degrees and in different ways. For months I know that many, including myself, felt like we were travelling through an endless tunnel of darkness. Now there is light and hope at the end of that tunnel. We all knew it before, but I think the last nine months have made us truly comprehend the importance of Luton Town Football Club in our lives. Not just
These are the small things that we all now truly understand are not so small. Those intangible feelings unique to our club that we could never quite grasp or quantify have been laid out plainly in front of us, only over the last nine months we’ve been unable to reach out and grab them.
The theme here is not football – that’s something that we’ve had twice a week since the season restarted in June. The football in that time has been nothing short of remarkable and I’m sure every Hatters fan enjoyed and cherished every minute of our ‘great escape’, though I’m not sure ‘enjoy’ is the right word! No, the theme here is not missing football, but missing a community, because that is what Luton Town is. Promotions and relegations will happen, managers and players will come and go, but the constant that runs throughout any event on the pitch is the community of the fans off the pitch in which the club runs deep in its DNA. For that community to be temporarily cut away takes away the heart and soul of football, even its very purpose as a way of bringing people together.
The light is there at the end of the tunnel. We’re still a long way off and we may not even travel in the right direction at points, but it’s there, showing us the normality we crave, the community we love. It’s not the same as having a packed out and rocking Kenilworth Road, but it is a step towards that reality. To all Hatters fans – welcome back.

MICHAEL MCGOVERN With regular goalkeeper Tim Krul currently sidelined through injury, 36-year-old Michael McGovern has been in between the Canaries' sticks for the past two matches. The Northern Ireland international joined the Norfolk club from Scottish side Hamilton Academical in 2016 and has made 24 appearances in the four years since.

Norwich City and manager Daniel Farke will hope to make an immediate return to the Premier League, and the Canaries have started the season well and sit top of the Sky Bet Championship table. The German took over at Carrow Road in May 2017, guiding Norwich to a 14th place finish in first season in charge. The next season, 2018/19, saw the side win the Championship and promoted into the top flight. Prior to his time with Norwich, the 44-year-old spent six years in charge of SV Lippstadt and also managed Borussia Dortmund II, the reserve team of the Bundesliga side.
Having come through the youth ranks at Celtic, the Enniskillen-born stopper had spent his entire career north of the border prior to joining Norwich, enjoying loan spells at Stranraer and St Johnstone before leaving Parkhead without making a senior appearance and going on to play for Dundee United, Ross County and Falkirk.

MAX AARONS Young full-back Max Aarons began his youth career here at Luton Town, featuring for the club’s development sides before joining Norwich’s academy in 2016. He signed professional terms with the Canaries in 2018, making his debut in the EFL Cup against Stevenage, and made his league debut in the East Anglian derby against Ipswich in September of the same year. Aarons has been a regular under Farke, featuring 36 times in the Premier League last season. He has been capped for England’s youth sides, playing for the Under-19s, and more recently for the Under-21s side.

OLIVER SKIPP On loan from Tottenham Hotspur, young midfielder Oliver Skipp has started life in the Championship very well, becoming a regular at Norwich. Coming through the academy set-up at Spurs, Skipp has featured for the first-team on a number of occasions. So far in his Tottenham career, he has made 23 first-team appearances, with 15 of those coming in the Premier League.
KEEP AN EYE ON...
In order to gain regular first-team football, he joined Norwich on loan and has started every Championship game so far this season. Like Aarons, Skipp has been involved in England at youth level.

One of the dangermen in the Norwich attack, and someone to keep an eye on, is Argentine winger Emi Buendia.

He began his professional career in Spain with Getafe, featuring for the club’s reserve side, before becoming a member of the first-team squad in La Liga and Segunda Division. He then spent 2017/18 season on loan at Cultural Leonesa, also in the Segunda Division.
Finnish international Teemu Pukki has been a constant goal threat in England’s top two tiers since his arrival at Norwich in 2018. He started his career in his native Finland for KTP, before a small stint with Sevilla, and then a return to his home country with HJK. A move to the Bundesliga with Schalke followed, and he also spent time in Scotland with Celtic. After spending a couple of seasons in Denmark with Brondby, he signed for Norwich, and scored 29 goals as the Canaries were crowned Championship winners. The following season, in the Premier League, he netted 11 times.
The 23-year-old left Spain for England, joining Norwich in June 2018. His first season in Norfolk ended in title success, as the Canaries won the Championship. He made 36 Premier League appearances last season, and is a regular this season.

CLUB HISTORIAN ROGER WASH DELVES INTO HIS ARCHIVES...
After four games without a win, including a dismal 1-0 reversal at home to Aston Villa the previous week where the players were booed off at the end, the Town were slipping down the table. Another home game followed and with it the chance to put things right on the pitch. Visitors Norwich had gone eleven League and Cup games undefeated and had yet to concede an away goal – they also knew that a win at Kenilworth Road would take them to the top of the table. Goals had been hard to come by with record signing, Lars Elstrup, taking time to settle but the Danish international showed why all that money had been paid for him by being instrumental in all the goals in a 4-1 win and was a constant thorn in the Canaries' side. Goals from Kingsley Black, John Dreyer, Danny Wilson and Steve Williams made it an unexpected afternoon to remember. Tough centre-half Foster was paid £4-10-0 (£4.50) a week in the summer and the princely sum of £5-10-0 (£5.50) a week during the playing season. GABBY & JOSH GO ON LOAN! Hatters Gabriel Osho and Josh Neufville yesterday joined National League side Yeovil Town on loan until January. Defender Osho, 22, joined the Hatters as a free agent last month after turning down an offer to stay at fellow Championship club Reading in the summer. Having spent the past few weeks training with Nathan Jones’ squad and playing in three development friendlies, the manager feels going to one of his old clubs for competitive football will help his acclimatisation to full match fitness. He was plunged straight into his second debut for the Somerset side, after making six appearances during a loan spell from Reading last term, in last night's 3-1 home defeat to Eastleigh. Wideman Neufville, 19, has been with the Hatters from Under-10 level and was part of the youth team that won the EFL Youth Alliance Cup in 2018. He signed his first professional contract just over two years ago and has since spent time out on loan in the National League with Solihull Moors and Woking. Jones said: “Gabby has come in and proved to us that he can be a real good addition to the squad, we just felt he needed some game time prior to January and we were able to get him out to a good club in Yeovil. “With Josh, we want to get him experience and the higher we can get him that, the better he is. Going down to Yeovil means that he gets a good experience of staying away, he has a mate initially in Gabby, and I obviously know that they’ve got a good tradition with young players having been there myself, so he can only benefit and help Yeovil at the same time.”

Kazenga LuaLua’s utterly crucial late winner at Hull. Having no-one there to see Town defy the odds and stay up last term by beating Blackburn, moments like that deserve a crowd. Even walking up to the games, usually amongst a throng of supporters all discussing the 90 minutes ahead, team selection, or what they had for dinner the night before, it’s the little things you miss.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT Okay it’s only 1,000 spectators, but it’s a start and the cause for some genuine excitement for those who have been attending matches in recent months. I don’t know of any journalist who doesn’t feel privileged to have been allowed to watch games during the coronavirus pandemic when supporters, the lifeblood of clubs, have had to stay away. But, it’s not been the same, not by any means. Sitting at the Kenny and being able to hear every kick, every shout from the players, every Wycombe Wanderers director and staff member screaming, that's not what football is. Especially at a ground like Kenny too which is known for the vociferous atmosphere it can generate, the silence can be deafening.
There won’t be away fans for the home followers to bounce off, but for the here and now, any crowd is welcomed and after just over nine months of empty stadiums, it’s genuinely exciting to imagine a tenth of Kenilworth Road back this evening. For the players, it can only help as all they have been able to hear in recent months is the bellowing of manager Nathan Jones, whose instructions and dug-out antics have been as entertaining as ever.
Speaking about Jones, tonight is the first time he will meet up with the Town fans face to face since he returned as manager in May. There will always be a few who will still be unable to look past his departure to Stoke, but surely he is back in credit now after what were some pretty honest apologies. Oh, and masterminding a quite brilliant Great Escape last term. It sounds odd, but Jones just 'gets' the club and you just know he can't wait to have a full house back at the old girl again, roaring his team on. When that might be, who knows, but the signs are finally beginning to look promising, which for those who thought the entire season would be played behind closed doors, is something.
Travelling up and down the country to places like Huddersfield, Leeds and Hull without the prospect of witnessing a feverous away end also takes lots of the fun away that comes with this job, especially the scenes that would have greeted So, enjoy your first trip back to the place you and every Luton fan calls home once more this evening. I know I will!

Facing a Category 1 Academy side is always a tough ask, however, we go into the fixture buoyed by a 2-1 victory on Saturday away at Leyton Orient, with Tra Lucas scoring on his return to action following a spell out after suffering concussion in a recent game, and Ed McJannett also on the scoresheet, curling in a 25-yard free kick.
As always, plenty of learning for our young players and they now have a free week to regroup, work hard in training and go again when we host Crystal Palace at our neighbours, Hitchin Town FC, on Wednesday December 9th. Staff
Congratulations to Paul Reed (U12-14s Lead Coach) who has recently passed his UEFA 'A' Licence and to Paul Benson (U18s Assistant) who has passed his FA Advanced Youth Award.
The three points maintains our position at the top of the table, although the chasing pack are looming having closed the gap slightly in recent weeks.
With seven games remaining and fixtures against all four teams directly below us it will be an exciting and interesting few week's coming up.
Both Pauls have worked extremely hard in the difficult current climate to achieve their qualifications. Well done to both.

Finally, I just wanted to say that it is great to see some of our fans back at the Kenny tonight and although it's still not exactly how we would all like it, it's a start and hopefully now things will move in the right direction.

We are saddened to report the passing of three loyal Hatters in recent weeks... MIKE CONNOLLY
TERRY DINEEN
Mike sadly passed away on November 3rd, aged 72. His love of the Town began way back in 1958 when he was taken to matches by his older brother Tom. Eager to see them play, they saved hard to buy tickets and would take any mode of transport to get to the ground even if that meant cycling their bikes all the way from Welwyn GC! Mike’s love of all things Luton continued throughout his life which ever league the team has played in. His passion for the Town has been passed on to his own children, particularly Dave and Lou and even his grandchildren - they are all avid Hatters and will continue to follow LTFC far and wide.
We are also sorry to report on the passing of a long distance supporter, Terry Dineen, who died on August 15th at the age of 68. Terry (pictured below, right) was from Toronto, Canada but his family are from Hitchin
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT His cousin, Town season ticket holder Mick Murphy, got in touch with Our Town recently, writing: “Terry's mother from Henlow married a Canadian military man and settled in the Toronto area. Terry was born in September 1951 in Toronto and was part of a large family with six siblings. "My father was a big Luton supporter, which runs in the family to this day with myself, son and grandson season tickets holders. My father always kept in touch with the Canadian branch of the family with visits to Toronto and they visiting the UK. “Terry loved sports and was especially passionate about the Toronto Blue Jays and watching soccer. He travelled to England frequently over the years to watch his favourite soccer team, Luton Town.
“One of his most treasured memories was being there in person to watch them win the Littlewoods Cup Final and he also was at the JPT final.”

Grandson Matthew Collins wrote: "We’re sad to say that our grandad Cliff Thompson (pictured right) has sadly passed away at the age of 85. He was a Luton supporter all his life and started coming to the games with his dad as a boy. He has been a season ticket holder in the Kenilworth End for as long as we can remember, and we loved coming to the games with him. We will sorely miss him but are grateful for all the happy memories we have with him."

LUTON TOWN COMMUNITY TRUST HATTERS TRUST LAUNCH HEALTHY HATTERS PROGRAMME FOR LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS Last week Happy Harry joined pupils at Stopsley Community Primary School to launch the Hatters Trust’s latest health programme aimed at young children.
fit into a healthy and balanced diet while understanding the meaning of proteins and carbohydrates and their importance along with good hydration all as part of setting up the body to be able to enjoy regular physical activity.
It’s a strange dichotomy that while food poverty has hit the headlines thanks to Marcus Rashford’s free school meals campaign to ensure that children do not go hungry in school holidays, almost 1 in 5 children are overweight or obese when they start primary school, rising to 1 in 3 when they start secondary school.
Of course, as with all projects aimed at education and changing habits with young children it has to be fun, and as part of the programme our community coaches will be taking PE lessons to illustrate how much fun exercise can be – even for the most reluctant pupils. Happy Harry is always a popular visitor to get the kids in a good mood!
At the last count in 2018, 42% of school children in Luton were overweight or obese and yet 46% were living in poverty. Square that circle! No doubt poverty is a driver, along with diet and lower activity levels among communities and areas of the Town subject to aspects of deprivation. The Trust’s Healthy Hatters programme will attempt to address the worrying trend identified above through a six-week classroom and playground activity project that educates children on the body and the positive impact a healthy diet and regular exercise can have. Over the six weeks children will learn all about the body and its bones and organs, and how good and bad foods
James Hatch, the Trust’s School Sport manager who devised the project, said: “One of the Trust’s main aims is to encourage healthy exercise in the local community, and we hope this new programme will make a difference to hundreds of local school children we already come into contact with through our existing schools network that, pre-covid, reached over 40 schools each week.” If your school would like to become involved in the project, James can be reached by email at james.hatch@lutontown. co.uk during lockdown restrictions.

FIT HATTERS ACHIEVING MORE GREAT RESULTS – NEW FEMALE & MALE COHORTS STARTING IN JANUARY
That is the key as with our Healthy Hatters project for young children – making exercise fun! Obesity rates for adults in the UK do not make for good reading either, as the UK is both top of the European league for obesity and Covid mortality.
We’ve moved our current second cohort of FIT HATTERS online for the remaining four weeks of the 12-week programme with the stadium closed again and lockdown restrictions in place. Initial results were again looking very good and we’ve kept that vital contact going until we can all meet again and get the final weight loss results in and start our walking football sessions again.
The two are undoubtedly connected and to encourage change, it has to be something that people want to do as opposed to something they are told they have to do! So, the main aims of the programme are to improve eating habits, cut down on alcohol, increase activity levels and reduce weight and waistline and importantly, stay that way long term. We do this through the 12-week structured programme comprising 45 minute tutorials and 45 minutes of activity sessions in the stadium, once a week, designed to encourage long term behaviour change to support more inactive people over 35 to become active. Of course, the benefits of a change in lifestyle impact on general wellbeing and the social side of pour FIT HATTERS meeting and supporting each other each week (even via zoom!) is almost as important.
E M O C N O U YO TERS AT FIT HATTERS is our free health programme for men and women aged 35-65 who are looking to lose weight, get fitter and lead a more active life.
The 12 week programme is delivered by coaching staff from the Hatters Trust and Luton Wellbeing and is for Hatters fans who want to lose weight, learn about healthy eating and take part in an exercise programme that our existing cohort of Fit Hatters say they are too busy having fun to realise that they are exercising.

The game started evenly, Wroxham shading possession in the opening ten, but Town had their first clear cut opportunity a couple of minutes later, Leyah Maddix breaking from right-back and leaving it for Jess McKay, whose cross was put behind on the volley by Dionne Manning.

Nathan Jones was extremely positive following the Town's 1-1 draw with Birmingham, a point he felt could have been three on another day.
“We should have cleared the ball and we didn’t, then they crossed the ball in, I have no idea what the hand ball rule is now so I can’t actually say if the ref was right or wrong because I don’t have any idea about the rule.
“The performance level was there and I can’t ask for anyone more from them," said Jones. "As a team I thought we were excellent, moved the ball, we were brave and we showed that we are evolving as a very good footballing side and I’m very proud of that. We should have won the game, we had chances to win the game.
“We showed great character to get back at them and then we pushed, we created enough. Their keeper had a fine game but he needed to tonight, because I thought we were very good.”
“We needed our keeper to actually preserve the point at the end but that would have been an absolute travesty because I thought we were excellent, I really did. "It was totally against the run of play (Birmingham’s goal), absolutely totally against the run of play, but sometimes things can happen in the Championship like that.

Nathan Jones was "embarrassed" by his side's 4-0 defeat at the hands of Cardiff on Saturday. The hosts were 2-0 up inside nine minutes and added two more after the break to inflict Town's first defeat in five games. “We lost to Reading last year but I understood that, we had a big week and it was one of those things," said Jones. "Two games in my life where I have been a little bit embarrassed and that is one of them. The other one came a year and a half ago in the FA Cup, but this was embarrassing to be honest with you. “We knew what was coming, we thought just do the basics right and we build. We played not too differently to how we’ve been in recent weeks but when they put a ball to the back-stick and things happen that can’t happen. We were then done by a counter-attack, we didn’t work hard enough to stop it and then you’re nine minutes too late and you don’t know where it
has come from because we started okay. It is reminiscent of the Millwall game if I’m honest, in terms of the set-up. They played 4-4-2 and needed a result today. They worked hard for their manager which shows they are behind him but a little bit embarrassing for me and that has to stop. “We talked about making 11 changes today to freshen things up but sometimes you can’t do that. I’m just a little bit embarrassed today to be honest.” CC

WHO?
The Swans were relegated from the Premier League in 2018 after a seven-year stay, registering tenth and sixth place finishes in the Championship over the last two seasons ending in a play-off semi-final defeat to Brentford. Swansea’s last piece of silverware came in 2013 as they were crowned League Cup winners, beating League Two side Bradford City in the final.
GROUND?
Swansea moved to the Liberty Stadium in 2005 after 93 years at previous ground Vetch Field. With a capacity of 21,088, it is the third largest stadium in Wales behind the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff City stadium. The Swans share their ground with Welsh rugby union side the Osprey’s.
HAVEN’T WE MET BEFORE?
The two sides last met in June in what was the Hatter’s second game after the Championship restart. James Collins’ second-half header gave Luton a morale boosting three points in their ultimately successful survival bid. In the reverse fixture at Kenilworth Road, Andre Ayew scored a late goal to boost their promotion hunt.

Former Hatters keeper Keith Barber made 142 appearances for Luton in a seven-year spell at the club before moving to Swansea in 1977 at the age of 30. Whilst in the Conference, the Town signed former Arsenal youngster Jernade Meade on loan from Swansea, however he failed to make an appearance as the Hatters won promotion back to the Football League under the guidance of manager John Still.
