Deborah Riedel (1958 -2009)
The concert performances of Die Fledermaus to be given by London Lyric Opera at London’s, Cadogan Hall on June 16 & 19 2009 are dedicated to the memory of the inspirational Australian Soprano, Deborah Riedel, who sadly passed away on the 8th January this year at age 50. Her phenomenal voice and musicianship took her to Covent Garden, The Met, San Francisco, Rome, Vienna, Paris, Geneva, Munich and throughout Australia. She enjoyed the support of Dame Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge who conducted many of her greatest triumphs some during her courageous 10 year battle with cancer. LLO supports the UK charity Marie Curie Cancer Care. Marie Curie Nurses provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes.
