GENERAL FESTIVAL INFO BOOK SIGNING AND POLICIES
ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY
Authors will sign books immediately following their onstage event unless otherwise noted. Books must be purchased from a Festival bookstore in order to be signed, with the exception of one pre-owned book per author.
Literary Arts has a zero tolerance policy for harassment of any kind, including but not limited to: race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender presentation, sexual orientation, age, body size, disability, appearance, religion, citizenship, pregnancy, marital or familial status, and/or military or veteran status. Harassment includes but is not limited to: stalking, verbal or physical intimidation, offensive verbal comments, physical assault and/or battery, harassing or non-consensual photography or recording, bathroom policing, inappropriate physical contact, and/or unwelcome physical attention.
The Festival features satellite bookstores at every all-day Festival stage, where attendees can purchase a book and get it signed on site.
EVENT ENTRY INFO A Festival pass admits you to all Festival events. Entry to and seating at Festival events is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and standing in line does NOT guarantee entry to an event. Plan to arrive early to your desired events. Saving seats is not permitted. All rooms will be cleared between events. The schedule for the 2019 Festival has onstage events and pop-up readings starting every 15 minutes. If your desired event is at capacity, you can check out a different discussion, find a pop-up reading, explore the Portland Art Museum, or take a break at the food carts.

ABOUT LITERARY ARTS Founded in 1984, Literary Arts is a community-based nonprofit literary organization located in downtown Portland. Our mission is to engage readers, support writers, and inspire the next generation with great literature.

Portland Arts & Lectures brings the world’s most celebrated writers, artists, and thinkers to our community. In addition to broadcasting events statewide on The Archive Project podcast and OPB radio show, the program connects readers and writers of all ages through classroom visits and workshops.

Youth Programs inspires public high school students to write, publish, and perform their own creative writing. Writers in the Schools residencies bring working writers into classrooms. Students to the Schnitz gives young people access to great books and influential authors. The College Essay Mentoring Project pairs mentors with college applicants. And the annual Verselandia! poetry slam showcases high school spoken word artists. Oregon Book Awards & Fellowships supports, promotes, and celebrates Oregon’s writers and publishers. In addition to awards and fellowships for emerging and established writers, the program also offers writing classes and literary events at our downtown center and produces the Oregon Book Awards Author Tour, which connects writers and readers throughout the state. Delve Readers Seminars cultivates community around the shared experience of reading. By gathering around books, we engage in dialogues with authors we love, and artists who show us new perspectives. The Portland Book Festival brings writers and readers of all ages together to celebrate a shared passion for books. This daylong celebration features author events, readings, workshops, and an extensive book fair. Save the date: November 7, 2020.
