When we were commissioned to create a series of mini dramas for some staff training films we were determined to film as much of it as possible within our home town. We urgently needed locations, props, extras and a top of the range luxury car. Could Edenbridge come up with the goods? Read on… Mr & Mrs Smart, Mr & Mrs Dunn, and Mr & Mrs Cheshire allowed us to film in their homes. Harwoods provided a brand new Range Rover for our actor to drive. Kent and Surrey Golf Club, Hever Golf Club and Limpsfield Tennis Club allowed us to film on their courses, courts and bars. Something Special, Your Good Health and Contented Pets let us film scenes with our actors in their shops – Farringtons and Piper’s Florist lent us props and quite a few other props we bought from Bradfords (there’s almost nothing you can’t get in there!) What was notable was the helpfulness, flexibility and easygoing way in which people responded to our requests. We thought we’d celebrate that by writing this letter! So … THANK YOU EDENBRIDGE!

Dear Neighbours, With such a busy issue I've barely left myself any room for my editor's note. Of course you can keep up-to-date via the magazine facebook page of things happening around the area. My highlight over the last couple of months has been to find a picture which includes me (top right) in the Eden Valley Museum's "All the World's a Stage" exhibition from an evening out at the museum with friends a few years ago. We have an unusual cat ornament up for grabs in the Prize Crossword Competition so if you (or anyone you know) likes cats then you'll be wanting to get your hands on this prize courtesy of Lucky Cat Sitters. Complete the crossword on page 50 and send in your entry to be entered into the prize draw. I'd like to thank the 1st Edenbridge Scouts for another tremendous quiz night at the WI Hall last month. My team, The Chamber Pots, are moving up the rankings, coming second this time. Scouts Maddie and Alisha (pictured) did a super job selling raffle tickets - well done!

Clean for the Queen On Friday 4th March at 2pm a hardy bunch of volunteers clad in reflective jackets and clutching black polythene bags and litter picking sticks, gathered at the Leisure Centre Car park, Edenbridge to take part in the ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter picking campaign. The weather was very kind with beautiful sunshine all afternoon.

South East Open Studios Celebrates 20th Anniversary!
Celebrating 20 years of outstanding local art, the South East Open Studios event will run from 3rd-19th June 2016 between 10am and 5pm. On 1st April the team at the Business Innovation Zone celebrated one year at Norton House, our premises on Fircroft Way. I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has been supporting us throughout our first year. The Edenbridge Directory for letting everyone know what we're up to, the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce for using our admin support service, Keith & Jennie Steptoe for their help during the early stages, Mr & Mrs Ken Day who regularly use our online selling facility, Blackdog Microsystems for the IT support provided over the last year and Terry Blake who has helped in so many ways. Our ultimate thanks are to Sainsburys for the use of their building and John Surtees and his team for keeping us very comfortable in our space as without the space we would not be able to do the things we do.
WORKING JOURNEYS
This is a new specialist course for which we have recruited three young people from Edenbridge's surrounding
areas who feel they need support in getting a job. The workshop will help to raise self esteem, motivate and gain confidence to find work. The course will result in valuable work experience as well as a reference for future employment.
EUROPEAN DELEGATES COMING TO VISIT
We are preparing for a huge event taking place at the end of April where the BIZ Centre will be visited by a number of European Delegates who are interested in learning about what we have been able to achieve here in the hope that the idea can be rolled out in many places and not just Edenbridge. It's fantastic recognition for the team here and we are looking forward to having the space brimming with guests, including our MP Tom Tugendhat MBE.
