Note from the Editor... Dear Neighbours, Gosh, we are half way through the year already and summer is still deciding on whether it’s going to stay for a while. I do hope I’m going to find it when I go on holiday next week. I’ve decided to do something a bit different to my usual holiday and head off on a sailing holiday to Croatia with local company Nautilus Yachting. Do I get sea sick? I hope not but I have stocked up on sea sickness pills to take just in case! I’ll let you know next time. It’s been an interesting couple of months and I was unfortunately involved in a car accident recently. With a dry spell followed by rain, my car spun out of control on the A25 after the Godstone roundabout and I ended up hurtling backwards into the ditch which runs alongside that stretch of road. Luck was certainly on my side that evening as I missed two trees and when my car was pulled out there was no damage (other than minor scratches to the paint work from branches) at all! I really would like to give my thanks to all the lovely people who were out on that evening. A young man who had been following immediately behind me pulled over to check that I was fine, Tracy Carroll from The Market Place agency who also stopped (and it turned out her company represents one of the new advertisers in this issue). And finally a super big thank you to Reece and Donna Hook who managed to pull my car out of the ditch. Of course I had the car looked at by the guys at Accelerated Motor Repairs who gave it a thorough check over but could not find any damage. Phew!

I was sad to hear the news that Piper’s Florist on the High Street is closing it’s doors. I’ve always found it such a vibrant place and their displays always make the town look so welcoming when you enter the high street from the bridge end of town. But don’t panic, they will still have their shop in Oxted and they will continue serving Edenbridge with plenty of flower deliveries. You can order online www.pipers.florist. It only seemed right that they should be this issue’s Prize Crossword sponsor. Head over to page 42 and complete the crossword for your chance to win a bouquet worth £30. As regular readers of this magazine know, I spend much time at events that take place in the WI Hall in Edenbridge. Not only will I be there soon to be entertained by the latest production from The Forge Singers but I had a super time watching the last peformance by the Edenbridge Players - Duets, four romantic comedies. The cast and crew were fabulous and the short stories 14 | www.edenbridge-magazine.co.uk • info@edenbridge-magazine.co.uk • 01732 864 878
