KNACK Magazine is dedicated to showcasing the work of artists of all mediums, and to discuss trends and ideas of art communities. KNACK Magazine’s ultimate aim is to connect and inspire emerging artists, working artists, and establishes artists. We strive to create a place for artists, writers, designers, thinkers, and innovators to collaborate and produce a unique, informative, and unprecedented web-based art magazine each month.

Submission Guidelines

Photographers, Graphic Designers & Studio Artists 10–12 high resolution images of your work. All should include pertinent caption information (name, date, medium, year).
Writers
You may submit up to 5,000 words and as little as one. We accept simultaneous submissions. No cover letter necessary. All submissions must be 12-pt Times New Roman, single or double-spaced, with page numbers and include your name, e-mail, phone number, and genre. KNACK seeks writing of all kinds. We will even consider recipes, reviews, and essays. We seek writers whose work has a distinct voice, is character driven, and is subversive but tasteful.
All Submissions
KNACK encourages all submitters to include a portrait, a brief biography, which can include; your name, age, current location, awards, contact information, etc. (no more than 250 words). And an artist statement (no more than 500 words). We believe that your perspective of your work and process is as lucrative as the work itself. This may range from your upbringing and/or education as an artist, what type of work you produce, inspirations, etc. If there are specifications or preferences concerning the way in which your work is to be displayed please include them. Please title files for submission with the name of the piece. This applies for both writing and visual submissions.

KNACK Magazine is requesting material to be reviewed. Reviews extend to any culture related event that may be happening in your community. Do you know of an exciting show or exhibition opening? Is there an art collective in your city that deserves some press? Are you a musician, have a band, or are a filmmaker? Send us your CD, movie, or titles of upcoming releases which you’d like to see reviewed in KNACK Magazine. We believe that reviews are essential to creating a dialogue about the arts. If something thrills you, we want to know about it and share it with the KNACK Magazine community—no matter if you live in the New York or Los Angeles, Montreal or Mexico. All review material can be sent to knackmagazine1@gmail.com. Please send a copy of CDs and films to 4319 N. Greenview Ave, Chicago, IL 60613. If you would like review material returned to you include return postage and packaging. Entries should contain pertinent details such as name, year, release date, websites and links (if applicable). Cat Gundry-Beck is an Irish photographer fascinated with travel. She is a graduate of the Norwich University of the Arts and is currently living in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Chuck Kramer is a Chicago-based freelance photographer and writer. His photographs have appeared in Windy City Times, Nightspots, InChicago, and Show magazines. He has also shot book covers, album covers, and portraits of many Chicago writers and performers. In March 2019 his exhibition Faces: Out & Proud was featured at the Center on Halsted in Chicago. His photographs of poets reading at the weekly Weeds Poetry Open Mic were presented at the Dominguez Art Gallery in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood art community in 2016. Featured Artists Yuko Kyutoku is a Japanese artist who specializes in painting, drawing and printmaking. Her work has appeared in numerous exhibitions in the US and Japan, including the Yada City Gallery in Aichi, Japan, the Consulate General of Japan in New York, and at CafĂŠ Grumpy in Chelsea, NY. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Painting/Drawing & Printmaking at the State University of New York at Purchase.

Peter Miller is a full-time painter based in Auckland, New Zealand. He is inspired by Dutch Vanitas painters of the 16th & 17th centuries, a genre which expresses the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the inevitability of death. He is best known as a still life painter, and in particular a painter of old toy cars and trucks. Miller won the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award in 2015.

Jen Mundy is a Philadelphia-based artist who is inspired by European children’s book artists such as Beatrice Alemagna and Brianne Farley, especially their use of textures and shapes. Diagnosed with a learning disability at a young age, Mundy initially found verbal and written communication difficult. She found her own way to tell stories when she began creating images as a form of communication. Mundy has recently published her children's book Goodbye For Now on Amazon, and is due to graduate from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA this spring.

Peter Miller
Sometimes I paint an object purely because of a beauty I see within it, but I continuously use my work as a means of expression of what flows through me. Over time I have explored the human form more, as a means to create a stronger sense of narrative. Portrait painting has become a secret passion, as I enjoy the challenge of capturing the indefinable essence that creates an individual’s look and personality. My current ongoing series, under the general title, Endangered Species, involves native birds of New Zealand and uses human presence within the work as a means to express my feelings on humanity's effect on the environment we live in, and our role as protectors and guardians.

Ni Xin is a Chinese multidisciplinary artist who was born in Japan. Her art practice explores sex, gender, and politics through humor. Fashion, metaphors, cultural parodies, political news, consumerism, and her childhood in Japan have influenced her. In 2017, Ni Xin debuted a solo show at School 33 Art Center in Baltimore, MD, and was picked for a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. She earned a BA of Information Design at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and received a Multidisciplinary MFA at the Mount Royal School of Art at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
