Tomboys Rule! These days, there are more tomboys than there used to be. Now most girls don’t seem to like pink, Barbies and maybe not much nail varnish and make-up. If some of you are wondering what a tomboy is, it’s an energetic, sometimes boisterous girl whose behavior and pursuits, especially in games and sports, are considered more typical of boys than of girls. Now girls are really into sports. There are a lot of women in the Olympics now. I think most girls have realized how pretty they can be without make-up. Girls are really active now, which is really good. This is all I have on tomboys. I hope you enjoyed reading. -Submitted by: Tarisha S.

I created three rules for my life. Sometimes I follow these rules and sometimes I break these rules. I tried not to make my rules super strict or super easy. These rules are things that every person can do. My first rule is to never give up. I could have given up on many things in life, but I kept trying. For example, if I didn’t push myself to practice to learn how to ride a bike, I wouldn’t know how to ride a bike. I never gave up because I really wanted to ride a bike and I kept believing in myself. This is one thing that everyone can do—don’t stop believing in yourself! You will acheive. Sometimes I can’t complete my goal so I just set another smaller goal until I get to my big one. I always try my hardest to never give up. My second rule is to always be nice to everyone. At times this rule is really hard to follow. Someone that you dislike very much wants to play with you and your first answer is to turn that person down. Instead you allow them to play with you. This is an excellent example of how to be nice to everyone. The first rule goes along with the second rule because you have to keep trying to follow this rule and this rule is one that you can never give up on. My third and final rule is to be yourself. Never change you you really are inside. For example, if I didn’t fit in with the popular group, I wouldn’t care. I have my own friends and they like me for who I really am. Each day I follow this rule better and better. This one is really important to follow. My rules are very simple and I know anyone can apply them to their own life! NOAHARK A long-time KidzEra contributor, mostly in the realm of painting and drawing, NoahArk talks to KidzEra about art and another passion close to our hearts: cosplay! KE: Tell us your favorite snack, season and color. NA: Chocolate, autumn and blue! KE: What do you like to do on the weekends? NA: Watch TV—Cartoon Network, Fox movies, go online, draw and SLEEP! KE: Tell us about the cover image—you with the mask. NA: It’s a cosplay I did for a Movie Carnival Event. This event was the place where people who love movies and cartoons come to meet up with each other. There were books, posters, DVD, comics and graphic novels for sale. People were wearing their favorite character costumes. Some of them came from Rise of the Guardians, Captain America, Sherlock, Adventure Time, etc. It was just so AWESOME!!! I decided I must do something cool for this amazing event. However, I only had three days to be ready so I tried to think back to a character I like that’s easy to work with. I came up with this Zacharie character from OFF Game. It’s OK to cosplay a character from a game as long as you REALLY love the character! And I love him! Actually he resembles myself in many ways. He’s one of my most favorite characters. Kaonashi or No Face (from the movie Spirited Away) is my number one! :D

My advice is... give her a chance! She might be different with you. If she starts bossing you around then be bold about it and just tell her to back off! Grow a backbone, be confident and she probably wont boss you around!
My problem is... I like this boy at school and he likes the other pretty girls. I am pretty too, with a little make-up I put on in the morning, without my parents noticing. So, really I just need help about how to get his attention.

KE: Tell us your favorite snack, season and color! EK: My favorite snack is dried strawberries, my favorite season is winter, and my favorite color is turquoise. KE: What do you like to do on the weekends? EK: On the weekends, I like to rock climb, and take photos. KE: What advice to you have for other KidzEra artists? EK: A good way to get a great photo is to take pictures of regular things with a different perspective. Try getting on the ground, turning sideways, or looking at things with an unusual angle. This will make your photos more interesting! KE: Do you have a camera with you all the time or do you take it out deliberately on picture-taking missions? EK: I usually take out my camera on photo-taking missions! KE: What inspires you to take pictures?

“Trick or treat!” Summer practiced. Summer Holiday isn’t your average girl. It wasn’t her brown hair or her height. Summer LOVED holidays. She was in luck because today was Halloween. She needed a great costume. “I know, I’ll be a witch!” Summer exclaimed. She clawed and clawed at black fabric until she said, “Perfect.” Then she bought a black hat and tried it on. She looked at herself in the mirror. “Muahahaha!” Summer cackled. She could feel the power running through her body. She ran to her mauve, comfy bed and laid down because of how tired she was from making her costume. She stared straight and saw her calendar. It said November 1. “November first?! What happened to Halloween?!!” Summer exclaimed. She ran to her neighbor’s house. Her neighbor was Jack Oliver Lantern (a.k.a. Jack O’Lantern). Ding-dong! went the doorbell. Jack opened the door. His skin was orange-looking, he had brown hair sticking straight up, with black eyes, a black nose and a black mouth. “Hi Summer!” Jack said merrily. “Halloween is gone!” Summer told Jack. “What?” he replied. “Look at your calendar...” “November first! Why is it November first?!” Jack wondered. “I don’t know. I’m going to think about it on my bed, “ she answered. Summer rushed out of his house onto the sidewalk. She ran to her house, her hair flowing in the wind.
Summer laid down on her bed. Poof! Words of dust appeared: Halloween...needs your help...go through...the door it read, then disappeared. “What door?” Summer asked. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a door materialized. Summer shrugged and opened the door. Her eyes went wide and her mouth fell open. The view was like multicolored cotton candy, swirling and swirling. Summer walked through it in awe. When she got to the end of the vortex, she was in a gothic room with spider webs covering every open space. A flying woman with red hair, a black dress and pale skin floated into the room. “Get people to believe in Halloween! Believe...believe!” the woman said, her voice echoing in the gothic room. She waved her hands and a rainbow emerged. Suddenly Summer was back in her room. She put on her witch costume and ran out of her house. “Believe in Halloween!” Summer yelled, screaming her head off. “Believe!” she desperately cried. Summer ran down many blocks, trying to get to as many people as possible. By the time she got home, it was dark. “I hope it worked,” she said. When she looked at the other houses, they all had decorations, from pumpkins to ghosts to bats. Jack ran up to her. “You did it!” Jack congratulated her. Halloween was saved and they walked down the street together, trick-ortreating as they went. Fall is Here! Chirp! Chirp! sing the birds. The birds are singing, “Fall is here!” I could smell the breeze of autumn nature Going through my hair. I can feel the dry emerald grass And view the crimson leaves floating down As if it were a soft feather Falling onto the hard wood floor.

BOO! It’s Halloween! A chance for kids to run and scream. Halloween is so much fun—calm down! There’s enough candy for everyone! If you think you’re too old, then too bad for you, More candy for me and not for you! Just hope you won’t get scared and cry, Because if your friends find out It’s something you can’t deny. But don’t think of Halloween as Something to fear, Just try not to shed a tear. Have fun and stay strong, I promise you’ll have a good Halloween all night long!
