Studio Leaders

Bangkok I Thailand The course comes in two parts. One is in the form of a study trip to Europe provides an opportunity for students to analyse and evaluate western art, design and architecture directly at the location. The second part has the goal of our studio which is characterised by the sincerity of our projects. It is a continuous search for the best solution for societal issues and how to tackle it with best intentions in mind. It is based on experimentation, investigation and hopefully going beyond the assignment itself. Working with the concept of “Leaving no one behind” according to the UIA Golbal Student Summit theme, architechture students of Year 1 to 4 at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) has come together to create new conversations and implement existing and creative solutions into the studio project.

Sai Kaung Si Thu, Kaung Thant Nyi, Ye Min Thet , Kavin Kitcharoenyuenyong, Htet Khaung Min Swe I KMUTT Transitional housing refers to a supportive type of accommodation that is meant to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, supervision, support (for addictions and mental health, for instance), life skills, and in some cases, education and training. Transitional housing is conceptualized as an intermediate step between emergency crisis shelter and permanent housing. It is more long-term, service-intensive and private than emergency shelters, yet remains time-limited to stays of three months to three years. It is meant to provide a safe, supportive environment where residents can overcome trauma, begin to address the issues that led to homelessness or kept them homeless, and begin to rebuild their support network.

TRANSITONAL HOUSING

Zoning

Recent research has studied the plight of the homeless in Thailand in 2 main ways which are the cause of homelessness, and the way of supporting and returning homeless people back to society. the type of family culture in Thailand is a dependent family in which all members stay together, the family problem is still a major cause of homelessness. Many homeless people have traumatic pasts, such as being abandoned, kidnapped, attacked, banned or have and on top of this often suffer from unusual mental conditions. Therefore, the turning point to normal life may not have only one factor. o homeless people experiencing issues relating to their families or mental problems, the government’s assistance regarding food and shelter is counter-productive as it encourages them to become permanently homeless. They may feel that society and their families have a negative attitude towards them, so when sufficient food and shelter are provided by the government, they may decide not to return to their families or communities. The mission of returning homeless people to normal life in Thailand is not only about socioeconomic factors, but equally understanding their way of life, while feelings are also necessary.

User Analysis

The main problems at the core of homelessness is inequality and social diversion. Activities in the nature of being collaborative, inclusive and reflective to their daily lives and needs should be incorporated into our program. On the other hand, for feasibility, economic and social perspectives should be considered as well. Our main theme to solve misconception and improve relationship among homeless and general public also requires transparency and seamless accessibility to some part of facilities as well.

Transitional homless is for temporary which can be 1 year or 3 years. And We have to reduce the cost of constrcution as much as we can. So we design with the scafolding structure with metal sheet wall.

Open Space - this space can be the park which is covered with the vertical green screen and the food from this garden can feed to the homeless. Activities Space - This space can be workshop space and the local and homelessness can participate.

Concept , Zoning and Programs

The two spaces are to make the strong relationship between the homelessness and community. The advantage for the communities is they can relax and see the activities which can be encouraged to participate. For the homelessness, they can build their social life again.

Sustainability: Hollow pipe frames are often made from recyclable materials, such as steel. Modular construction itself is known for its sustainability benefits, including reduced waste, energy efficiency, and potential for future disassembly and reuse. By utilizing hollow pipe frames in modular construction, the overall environmental impact can be further minimized. Easy Integration of Utilities: Hollow pipe frames offer convenient pathways for the integration of utilities within the modular units. Pipes and wiring can be easily routed through the hollow sections, allowing for efficient installation of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
