Welcome to the amazing world of JMU Swimming & Diving, where we are ONE team with ONE goal: The Colonial Athletic Association Championship! There has never been a better time to be a JMU Duke, and we are excited to share our team and our vision with you as you make plans for your academic and athletic future. • Five-time CAA Diving Coach of the Year • Helped Kim Helfrich become first member of JMU Swimming and Diving to qualify for NCAA Championships in 201011 • Has sent divers to the NCAA Zone A Qualifying meet in each of her seven seasons • Coached four CAA Divers of the Year and four CAA Rookie Divers of the Year • Entering the 2014-15 season, Benson-coached divers account for the top eight one-meter scores in JMU history and eight of the top nine three-meter marks • In 2013-14 then-freshman Taryn McLaughlin was named both CAA Diver and CAA Rookie Diver of the Year • In first season in 2007-08, coached Jamie Coyle to one-meter school record and NCAA Zone qualification • Helped Coyle improve top one-meter score by nearly 80 points and three-meter by 60 points in one season • Diving coach at N.C. State for 2006-07 season • Six of seven divers at NCSU qualified for NCAA Zone B meet. • Collegiate diver at South Carolina and was National Independent Conference three-meter champion. • Metro Conference Diver of the Year in 1984 and NCAA semifinalist.

COACHING STAFF Jacy Dyer Assistant Coach First season Toledo ‘11

• Hired as assistant women’s swimming coach for the 2014-15 season on July 16, 2014 • Spent three years as the assistant swimming coach with Toledo women’s swimming and diving • Managed much of the operations for the Rockets in addition to her day-to-day coaching and recruiting duties • Prior to coaching, Dyer was a standout performer for Toledo, setting school records in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle and swimming one a pair of relay teams, the 400 and 800 freestyle, that also set school marks • Was named All-MAC all four seasons at Toledo

• All-CAA honors in the 50-yard freestyle after finishing third with a time of 23.00 • Part of relay teams that won CAA Championships in the 200 and 400-yard medley and 200 and 400-yard freestyle • Helped set CAA Championships meet record as part of 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle teams (also set JMU program records) • Finished ninth at the CAA Championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.51 • Placed 19th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.43

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Allison Keel held the JMU record in the 50 freestyle and the 100 and 200. She won a pair of CAA titles in 2006 in the 100 and 200 free races. Between her sophomore and senior seasons spanning 200710, P.J. Naber set four individual and five relay school records as a sprint freestyler.

Amanda Kuehl set the six-dive school record in the threemeter dive and won three CAA championships between the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Marcy Lipp won JMU’s first championship in the 1,650 freestyle, claiming the gold in 1992.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

The 1993-94 JMU women won the CAA championship by more than 200 points. The Dukes have won six CAA titles since 1986.

Wendy Bryant won consecutive CAA golds in the 200-yard backstroke in 1995 and 1996. She was also a member of seven championship relays.

Cindy Walker was the CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1993 and Outstanding Meet Performer in 1992 and 1993. She won 14 combined individual and relay gold medals in the CAA.

Sin Hye Won became the first JMU swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Championship, qualifying in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. She finished 43rd nationally in the 100 and 49th in the 200.

Erin McDonnell earned five individual and nine relay gold medals at the CAA championshps from 1991 to 1994.

Jenny Simmons won five CAA relay races in 1992 and 1993. Her 1992 400-yard freestyle relay squad held the record until 2008.

As a junior, Jessie Everett set new school records in both the six-dive one-meter and three-meter events.

Mary Sink won the one-meter dive in the CAA in 1992 and later served as JMU’s diving coach.

As a sophomore in 2010-11, Kim Helfrich became the first member of the JMU Swimming and Diving team to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She finished 24th nationally in the one-meter dive and 28th in the three-meter dive.

JMU’s beautiful campus includes 148 buildings on 721 acres. The original campus is built around the Quadrangle, where buildings are constructed of native blue limestone and have ivy coverings. The University’s 20, 181 students may choose from 115 degree programs in eight colleges -- College of Arts and Letters, College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Behavioral Studies, College of Integrated Science and Engineering, College of Science and Mathematics, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Graduate School.
