Welcome to the 11th annual Silver Smith Farms, and Mappin Simmentals Bull Sale. A slightly different name, but the same people offering the same high quality cattle you have come to expect. Even though our operation has changed over the last year with Eric leaving his offfarm job to help operate the farm full-time, and Albert and Jean leasing the cowherd to us, rest assured very little else has changed. We are fully committed to bringing the best bulls we can raise to town and stand behind them 100%. Our sole focus continues to be Agriculture, and we are excited to be in this business for the long haul. Wow what a fall run. If selling your calves for $2.50-3.00/lb. didn’t put a smile on your face, check your pulse! With calves bringing more dollars per pound it truly pays HUGE dividends to ensure you are weaning heavy calves. I can’t keep track of the number of guys that have told me over the past few falls that their Simmie calves outweighed their British calves and netted hundreds of dollars more on their cheque. The quickest way to directly increase your profitability in this market is to increase your pounds weaned and quality of your calves, and high quality bulls are an excellent start. We work very hard to continue to improve our offering every year, to help you make your herd longer lasting and be more profitable in the process. Walking high quality Purebred herd-bulls forms the base of our breeding program. This ensures on sale day you have your choice of multiple half-brothers, and you will notice their uniformity and consistency. These traits will translate into your herd as well and make you money. We are so confident in what these bulls are able to do for you, we keep their sisters and breed them to raise the next generation of bulls. We utilize a 45 day breeding season, so fertility is very important-the cows have to calve, clean up, raise a big calf and rebreed to do it all over again, just like at your place. Our bulls have been developed on a high roughage TMR ration of barley silage, ground hay and a high protein prepared bull grower ration. Terms: The terms of this sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Payment due in Canadian Dollars. Bid: Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Disputes: In some cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. Purchaser’s risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. Announcements: Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Bidders are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. Certificate of registry: The proper registration or recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after the settlement has been made. Breeders Guarantee: Should any bull fifteen months of age or older fail to prove a natural breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders and free of any venereal disease, the buyer shall report in writing to the seller and provide a report of a complete examination by a qualified veterinarian. This notification shall be provided to the seller no later than four (4) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fifteen (15) months of age, whichever is later. The buyer shall return the bull to the seller at the buyer’s expense. The seller shall have the opportunity to have the bull examined by the veterinarian of his choice. In the instance of a fertility re-test by the seller the bull must weigh the same or more than his posted adjusted 365-day weight. If the bull falls short of

his weight then he must be reconditioned to meet the weight and then re-tested. The seller will then have 45 days to prove this bull a breeder. If this bull proves to be a satisfactory breeder, the bull shall be returned to the buyer. In the event the seller fails to prove the bull a satisfactory breeder the buyer has the option to either accept a replacement F.O.B. the seller’s ranch or a credit equal in value to the actual purchase price. No incidental expenses such as feed, vet charges, interest, etc. will be charged by either party. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price. All warranty and responsibility is limited to replacement of the bull in question and is acknowledged by the buyer as a condition of sale. No guarantee is given that the semen collected from the bull will be suitable for freezing and/or artificial insemination. Once the bull is in buyer’s possession, the Seller provides no guarantee to cover health issues which may include but are not limited to: illness, disease, malnutrition, injury or death. Exception to guarantee: In cases where the animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. Bull Semen retention: Mappin Simmentals reserve the right to collect semen on any bull sold for in herd use. This semen will be collected at the buyer’s convenience and at the seller’s expense. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, Auctioneer, or Sellers assume any responsibility in this manner and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of the accident or loss of property. Rights and obligations: The above terms and conditions shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
