Mader Ranches 2020 Edition Ladies Night Female Sale

Page 1

WELCOME

2ND EDITION

Welcome to the 2020 edition of, Mader Ranches Ladies Night! Once again, It is with great anticipation and excitement that we open up the herd to share with industry, and offer some of our very best stock for your appraisal. We feel the set of bred heifers we have put together should work very hard for their new owners, the consistancy runs very strong this year in terms of quality, and we would be happy to retain any of them in the herd. We also wanted to add the excitement of some new embryo mating’s we have created, out of some of very top, and most proven donor females! The October sale works well for us timing wise, we feel it is more beneficial for the longevity of the females as it means less days on feed preventing potential calving and milking issues, it eliminates females that are calving early January to have to be loaded on a trailer and trucked in that final month, and it will give a more realistic look to what these females can look like coming off of green grass in their working clothes. It is also critical to us to know, that whichever direction or conditions these females sell, the new owner has ample time to get them home and adjusted onto their own feeding and management program well before they lay down and have a calf. We strive ourselves on not pampering our herd. The cowherd never sees any grain, they graze for at least 6-7 months of the year, are fed a full roughage TMR ration, with mineral being our key component for health and reproduction. The herd, including every animal in this sale is on a full herd health management program. We vaccinate with Bovashield Gold, 8 way, and Ivomec. All bred heifers were done with these twice, as 3 month old calves, and again at weaning. Our protocol is then to do all the bred females again early November prior to calving, so this allows the new owner to get them onto their own vaccination program once purchased. These heifers have been on a TMR ration consisting of barley/oat/wheat/pea based silage, chopped hay, and the Bullseye pellet. The service sires to these bred heifers are super exciting! Mader Walk This Way will be the service sire to a large bulk of the sale bred heifers. A bull we are proud to have raised, enjoy watching him work so well in many other herds, and are super excited to utilize him heavy in our own program. Mader Lieutenant and Mader The National were also used extensively in AI’ing and natural service to many of the heifers, and we are extremely happy with how these sires are calving and adding extra grow, style, and performance to thier offspring. Check out the EPD profile for those 3 bulls, all excelling in calving ease, and in the top 1-2% for WW and YW! MRL Crown Royal also contributes excellent calving ease, and we were super happy with how well his first calf crop was accepted at our spring bull sale. You will notice many of the embryos lots include the newest and hottest bulls to the breed such as RF Supercharged, SVS Dynasty, and Walk This Way! We invite customers, friends, and family to join us on October 22nd on the ranch, for the Second Edition of Ladies Night! It will be a 5pm sale, with a steak supper and refreshments to follow. Please do not hesitate to call any of us at Mader Ranches for more info or a viewing of the heifers at the farm. Online bidding will be available, or please call any of our sales staff to assist on sale day. This is the night we celebrate the ladies of our program, please make sure to bring the ladies of yours!

From an early stage, we could tell Walk This Way was going to be something special! With his excessive hip structure, his softness through that middle third, his proud and extensive front end, and maybe most importantly his great foot size and flex in his joints. Stemming from one of our most influential donors cows, Iron Sugar 7X. A cow responsible for just under 60 registries in the system, many of which have gone on to very influential throughout the industry. The neat part about Iron Sugar is that she also has the influence of Opal 652S bred into her. Two cows we have built around for their near perfect udder suspension and teat size, their athleticism in foot and leg functionality, and their ability to produce terrific natural Offspring, flush multiple embryos showing fertility, and the quality of their transplant progeny! His daddy Cobra writes his own page in history within the breed for producing the right kind! Over the past few years, the WTW progeny have made a statement... to mention a few... a $33,000 son in our bull sale, a $32,000 Heifer calf at FNL, and to top it off the highest selling animal in FNL was a bred for $75,000! Walk This Way progeny have the skeleton, the functionality, the hair coat, and maternal traits to continue pushing the breed in the right direction! Many of the sale heifers are serviced this way and it should make for a quick ROI for the purchasers! His semen recently demanded $350 a dose!

AI bred March 28th to Mader The National 43E. Exposed April 21 - June 2 to MRL Crown Royal 32E. Preg tested safe to AI for January 7th calving.

This beauty stems right from the heart of our program, out of the foundation female, Erixon Lady 202S. It’s been numerous years since we have let a female go out of this family, as we have been hoarding them into the herd, increasing the strength in the red program. The udder quality, teat size and placement, structural soundness, and productivity are all credentials you acquire when retaining daughters out of this lineage. Sired by the famous Cobra, adds even more maternal greatness to this young matron, and we feel she will be donor quality to whichever herd she is destined for. Lady is serviced to the 2019 Agribition Reserve Champion Bull, Mader The National 43E, for an early Jan calf. She has great extension, loads of middle third and body capacity, is very athletic in her skeleton, and she is our special lady, lot 1! 15 January 2019 • CE 12.4

AI bred to Mader Walk This Way 224B on March 29th. Exposed April 21 - June 2 to MRL Crown Royal 32E. Preg tested safe to AI for January 8th calving. Very maternal traits such as femininity, capacity, easy fleshing ability, great udder attachment, and an extremely functional set of feet and legs, sum up this heifer! She is flat out good! Bred up from one of the breed legends, TNT Miss Sadie. She is an embryo progeny off of the power house Captain Morgan daughter, Rust Miss Sadie 505C. We purchased her dam as the high selling and lead off female out of Rust Mountain View’s production sale. She was noted by many for her huge foot, her extra softness, and her broodiness. She has not disappointed as a donor matron. Cross that style of cow with Limitless’s style, eye appeal, hair coat and calving ease, and you have hit the jackpot. Dropping a tremendous udder and bred early the proven, Mader Walk This Way sire!

AI bred to Mader The National 43E on April 8th. Exposed April 21 - June 2 to MRL Crown Royal 32E. Preg tested safe to AI for Janaury 18th calving. Typed a bit different than her maternal sister above, this female screams broodiness. With the power of her dam, crossed with the performance sire Westcott, you get a big footed, huge barrelled female, with tons of easy fleshing ability. A favourite female all summer long as a heifer calf, one who which we said was a for sure keeper... well here she is! Serviced early to calving ease sire, “The National,” should result in a quick return. This hetero black sire is throwing calves with vigour, lots of grow, extreme softness, and lots of eye appeal. Her full brother was a higlight of the 2020 bull sale, selling to Willow Creek Colony.

Without even looking back at the records, I know this female was one of the highest performing heifer calves coming off her young dam as a heifer calf! She has that desired dark cherry red colour and has always been a standout! Deep ribbed, huge topped, fluid in her stride, and super docile. On the bottom side of her pedigree you will see Mader I’m a Gangster, he was a past high seller for us for $35,000, and he also stems back to the Erixon Lady 202S female, just like lot 1! Sired by the $33,000 past high selling bull to Oakview Simmentals. Mader Lieutenant is uniquely bred by two black parents, Mader Walk This Way and a FBF1 Combustible female. An outcross sire we are pleased to use in our herd, and he was also successfully accepted in the show ring, being named either Champion or Reserve Champion yearling bull at over 3 shows! This long fronted heifer expresses lots of length and grow, and if she works hard like her mother, will bring in a 800 lb + bull calf like her maternal brother just weaned off at! A very exciting mating to her for us, crossing two of the very best bulls we have raised together!

Much like her maternal sister above, her udder attachment appears like it will be excellent like their dams, and we have to say we are very pleased with all the Riddler udders and the milk production that they have! With over 30 Opal 652S influenced daughters in the herd, there is always one that shines to the top! Opal 210B is that cow! Her udder is built exactly like her mommas, perfect suspension, great little teats, and full of butter fat! She is so correct her structure, her foot, her movement, and she offers that tremendous extension. Her first son was a lead off and high selling Riddler son in the bull sale, her next daughter was retained in the herd and has turned out awesome, and her third daughter we wanted to offer for sale to show off and introduce her terrific dam! No this young female has never won a banner or sold for huge dollars through a sale, but the predictability has been enhanced through her production, and the genetic makeup has been carefully put together on this embryo mating to create $$ in these calves! Calves will be homo polled by parentage.

With just shy of 70 registries out of this matron, it’s no wonder she has built a pedestal within our program! Opal 652S has over 30 daughters or granddaughters in our herd now, all with her great fertility, foot size and functionality, and that udder suspension and perfect teat size. It doesn’t matter what bull we cross her with, we have never been disappointed! Combining her with Supercharged was a no brainer... you combine even more great maternal traits into these offspring by adding in the matron RF 202Z cow, who is responsible for being one of the most famous black Simmental cows in the world! Supercharged is one of the hottest young prospects on the market right now as he demanded $130,000 this past spring, and will most likely even out breed his dominant sire, RF Capacity. Calves will be homo polled and homo black by parentage.

I have to brag again on how much we like our Heavy Hitter progeny! To get this kind of dimension and angularity in progeny, let alone a female, is not an easy feat! Love the pin spread, the muscle expression, the lower rib, yet coming to you with ample neck extension and skull refinement. I remember the day we purchased her grandam, Sheila 82A, and this is pretty close to a spitting image! The Sheila cow family has had a large impact on our herd and will continue too through progeny retained! I snuck this ”for sure replacement” past Jill, and we are proud to offer her up to the industry!

To mention a few calves out of her... a $20,000 daughter sold at FNL, an $11,000 son sold in the bull sale, and last year she had another $12,000 son! Huge foot under her, great udder type, so massive in her rib shape, and backed by breed legends. Stacking great cow families on top of each other is what increases our breeds maternal power, and with Supercharged and 202Z and Mader Walk This Way, and Iron Sugar 7X, this should be a home run! Calves will be homo polled by parentage.
