In October 1982, at 24 years old Sonya D. Swinton joined the US Marine Corps eager to become a photojournalist. She is also the publisher and national radio host of Internet Celebrity TV™ Magazine & Radio Show. Swinton has been called upon to be a panelist in entertainment marketing for several film festivals and a competition judge for the Web Marketing Association’s Internet Advertising Competition (IAC).

Swinton served as one of the first African American senior staff members to develop the first campus of the National Community Civilian Corps NCCC*AmeriCorps programs in 1994 in Perry Point, MD.

Dr. Sonya Swinton proudly presented Chancellor Hansell Gunn with the Distinguished National Excellence in Educational Leadership Award at the Gunn Christian Academy’s Commencement Ceremony at the Bessemer Civic Center in AL. Dr. Swinton is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC. She has a Doctor of Divinity in Biblical Studies from a National Christian Seminary with a Masters Degree in Education from Penn State University. She is also a distinguished alumni with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. On June 25 2017, Dr. Swinton celebrates over 20 years in Global Christian Missions Outreach by serving in the Mission America Coalition’s L.O.V.E 2020 Campaign Media Ministry for the 2020 Missions to Tokyo Japan Olympics. She is also a member of the Women Mission Union (WMU) Women on Mission© at 1st Baptist Church.
