THE GLASS PLATE PROJECT
A note from curator John Baker. ‘In the late 1990's I used to visit a second-hand bookshop in Dufftown, the whisky capital of Speyside in Scotland. The owner got to know me quite well as I was a regular while amassing a collection of photography and movie related books. One day I was asked if I wanted to buy a collection of glass plates by an unknown photographer from England - I jumped at the chance.
Now it is time to reveal the project which entails the conservation, preservation, indexing, scanning, and archiving of the entire collection.
