It# seems# that# the# world# of# skin# designers# has# exploded# over# the# past# year# with# more# and# more# designers# and# stores# popping# up# every# day# around# the# grid.# Several# of# them# are# talented# and# do# well# with# their# business,# but# only#a#handful#of#skin#designers#these#days#are# true# originals;# artists# who# don’t# use# skin# templates# as# their# base,# but# create# everything# from#scratch. It’s# difficult# and# tedious# to# create# a# skin# from# scratch# that# mimics# real# life# so# gracefully,# but# Tricky# Boucher# from# Belleza# seems# to# have# mastered# it,# even# early# on# in# his# career,# and# has# only# gotten# better# with# each# skin# he# has# released.# “I# think# it's# always# better# to# do# your# own# stuff# and# not# use# templates,”# Tricky# advises.# “Everyone# should# try# to# be# original# and# if# you# want# success,# do# your# work# with# passion# instead#of#doing#it#for#the#money.” Each#detailed#skin#that#Tricky#releases#is#created# with# love# and# passion,# and# he# puts# an# enormous# amount# of# time# into# each# one.# From# creases#in#lips#to#curves#of#breasts#or#hips,#each# skin#is#flawless.# “The# personal# satisfaction# time# after# time# is# so# rewarding# for# me,”# Tricky# explained.# “Being# able#to#improve#from#skin#to#skin#even#if#it’s#just#
a# little# is# worth# it.# Good# discipline# is# key# to# just# about# everything# in# life.# Yes# it's# nice# to# be# your# own# boss,# but# it's# hard# to# be# productive# if# you# don't# have# good# discipline.# # When# I# am# working# on# a# skin,# I# have# a# real# passion# for# it,# and#put#my#all#in#it.##If#I#find#it#becomes#tedious# to# work,# and# I# am# struggling# with# an# idea,# I# take# a# good# break# and# always# come# back# stronger.” Spending# so# much# time# designing# skins# has# paid#off#big#for#Tricky,#but#he#sometimes#misses# the# relaxation# aspect# of# Second# Life.# For# new# designers,# he# cautions# that# work# can# consume# your# time# in# Second# Life# and# you# need# to# be# prepared#for#that.# “I# think# the# biggest# drawback# is# not# having# the# time#I'd#like#to#spend#exploring,#or#going#to#live# music# events,”# he# cautions.# “I# find# whenever# I# am# in# SL# lately# I# am# working,# so# it# would# be# nice#to#be#able#to#‘enjoy’#my#time#a#little#more.” Though# he# doesn’t# get# out# from# the# walls# of# Belleza# much,# Tricky# said# he# has# enjoyed# meeting# his# customers# and# fans# from# around# the# grid.# However,# he# explains# that# the# intimidation# factor# of# being# such# a# well-known# skin# designer# has# hindered# his# social# game# a# bit#outside#of#the#store.

For# most# people,# boredom# brings# on# negatives# –# negatives# such# as# over# spending,# indulging# in# activities# that# they# shouldn’t,# and# messing# around# in# places# they# shouldn’t.# But# for# Lulu# Jameson,# SL# photographer,# graphic# artist# and# most# recently# skin# designer,# boredom# brings# on# the#drive#to#challenge#himself#in#new#ways.# “I’m# one# of# those# people# who# needs# to# do# new# things,”# he# explained,# “who# quickly# gets#bored#if#there#isn’t#any#challenge.” His# new# drive# in# SL# is# his# store# venture,# Vaya# Con# Dios,# a# skin# and# body# shop# that# is# quickly# gaining# attention# and# is# growing# at# a# rapid# pace.# Lulu# started# his# store# as# a# way# to# express# his# creativity# and# share# it# across# the# grid.# He# most# enjoys# seeing# people# use# his# designs# to# express# themselves.# “I# like# the# idea# of# helping# people# get# their# own#style,”#Lulu#stated.#“That's#the#best#way# to#see#how#creative#avatars#can#be.” Starting# up# the# store# has# been# a# challenging# venture# for# Lulu,# and# he# explained# that# the# first# challenge# he# had# was#naming#the#store.#
“Vaya# Con# Dios# is# a# great# way# to# think# –# positive.# It# means# nothing,# or# no# one,# can# make# you# feel# bad,”# he# said.# “It# should# be# something# you# wish# for# yourself# and# for# others.#And#I#have#to#thanks#my#RL#sister#for# her# help# and# my# Spanish# blood# for# help# in# naming#the#store.#I#was#born#in#France,#with# 50%#Spanish#blood#and#50%#Italian.”# So# far# Lulu# has# had# a# huge# amount# of# success# with# his# store# opening,# but# his# biggest# success,# he# explains,# is# hearing# that# his#customers#are#happy.# “Making# a# client# happy# is# very# important# for# me,”# he# said.# “It's# really# pleasant# to# get# encouragement# or# advice# to# get# better.# Glory,# power,# money...# all# this# stuff# is# quite# fake# in# SL.# # My# challenge# is# more# about# opportunity# and# doing# something# new.# People# may# like# it# or# not,# but# the# important# thing#is#to#do#it#your#own#way.” Though# he# has# created# several# different# designs,# so# far# Lulu’s# favorite# design# is# his# Rafael#skin#because#of#its#versatility.# “I# love# the# Rafael# Skin# and# Express# yourself# hairbases,# also# all# tintable# items# (eyebrows# add-ons,# freckles,# scars# &# cut# for# lips,# eyes,# eyebrows)#because#it's#something#people#can# use#no#matter#the#style#they#wear,”#Lulu#said.#

Ever#since#his#early#days#in#SL#Gospel#Voom,# owner#of#GOS,#knew#he#wanted#to#create#–#he# just#wasn’t#sure#exactly#what#his#niche#was. “When#I#first#came#into#SL,#I#just#ambled# around#the#place#giving#noobs#a#bad#name.#I'd# read#a#lot#of#marketing#hype#in#the#press# concerning#Second#Life#and#I#was#intrigued.# The#demise#of#gambling#and#banking,#the# boom#and#bust#of#big#business#and#to#a#lesser# extent#'Land#Barony'#was#something#I#watched# with#interest.#I#felt#that#the#real#'enablers'#of# Second#Life#were#the#content#creators#and#the# entertainers#–#and#they#were#lost#in#the#noise,”# he#explained.#“I#had#every#intention#of#creating# but#I#was#looking#for#a#niche.#It#then#dawned# on#me#that#the#real#trick#was#to#make#things# better#and#evolve#the#experience.#I#think#a#lot#of# professional#designers#had#the#same#idea.# When#I#look#around#at#established#brands# today#it's#no#surprise#how#many#started#out#in# 2007.”

Music#has#always#been#Stephen#Venkman's#outlet# for#creativity#after#an#injury#made#him#give#up# playing#the#drum#kit.#Looking#for#something# different#to#do#one#night,#he#stumbled#upon#Second# Life#from#an#online#advertisement#as#he#was#surfing# the#web.##Once#Stephen#realized#the#creative#nature# of#SL#he#started#taking#images#to#chronicle#his# experience.#Stephen#was#introduced#to#post# processing#software#from#a#friend#he#had#made#on# a#secondary#website#where#a#community#of#avatars# had#gathered#showing#off#their#creations.#The# realization#of#pushing#the#envelope#with#his#images# was#born.#He#had#found#his#muse#in#the#creative# minds#inhabiting#Second#Life.
From#the#SL4B#artist#ghetto#comprising#of#many# new#faces#on#Flickr,#a#community#was#born.##They# came#from#all#over#the#world#and#were#in#awe#of# what#they#saw#and#how#they#could#express#that# wonderment#in#the#images#that#they#posted#daily# on#their#streams.#%It#was#magical,#the#place,#the# time,#the#people#and#I’ve#not#experienced#anything# like#it#since.%#Stephen#found#himself#curating#an#inworld#gallery#which#consumed#him#for#almost#two# years#before#he#finally#stepped#away#to#relax,# explore#and#taking#pictures#again.##Since#that#time# he#has#been#involved#with#several#in-world# publications#as#photographer,#writer#and#art# editor.#
