“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela

Orange County Welcomes Emirates to Orlando International Airport

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joins His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief E thority Chairman Frank Kruppenbacher in a cake-cutting ceremony.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined regional leaders to celebrate Emirates Airlines’ newest gateway to the United States: Orlando International Airport. The Dubai-based airline began its daily nonstop passen-

ger service from Orlando to Dubai this week. Not only is the new passenger service the first of its kind in Orlando, it is also the first time an Airbus A380 aircraft has ever landed in Orlando

Orlando Is Emirates’ 10Th U.S. Destination. This new passenger service, and its global gateway to the Middle East and Asia, is expected to impact Central Florida’s economy significantly. “The benefits of this new service will be measured not only financially with a $100 million economic impact annually to the region, but also for decades to come as our business community takes advantage of efficient access to new destinations on several continents,” said Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA).

Emirates is the newest international airline to launch service to Orlando International Airport. The airline will add to the airport’s growing international traffic, which Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, and Greater Orlando Aviation Auincreased 9.6 percent in 2014, representing 12 percent of the airport’s total traffic activity. Last year, Orlando welcomed more than 1,000 new international passengers every day and Emirates’ will further boost that number.

“With Emirates’ new daily service to Dubai and other popular destinations throughout Asia and Africa, we will be able to extend out world-famous brand to even more potential visitors and guests, as well as corporate leaders and executives,” said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs. “Since 2004, Emirates has carried more than 11 million passengers on its U.S. flights and this new route will open up even more options for passengers traveling to Orlando,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group. “Additionally, the aircraft on this each direction every day, which route has the capability to car- will support Florida’s export marry more than 17 tons of cargo in ket.”

The launch of Emirates’ passenger service through Orlando International Airport is perfectly timed, as the state is investing $145 million in the world-class airport for an expansion of the South Terminal Complex, which will boost domestic and international passenger service. Emirates’ inaugural flight to Orlando flew a VIP delegation, a contingent of international media and passengers from 29 different countries to Orlando. Journalists embarked on a familiarization tour upon arriving in Orlando, which was hosted at the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) College of Medicine in Lake Nona. The agenda included an overview of Orlando’s economy and regional developments as well as tours of UCF’s College of Medicine and the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute..

Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Orange County’s Office of Economic Development recently met with leaders of the Central Florida Brazilian American community to discuss business and tourism partner opportunities in the region. Laiz Rodrigues, president of the Central Florida Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce (CFBACC), discussed additional opportunities that could enhance and strengthen ties with the Brazilian American community, including more local events that could attract Brazilian tourists and potential new business partnerships. “We are committed to connecting the global tourism marketplace with the thriving hospitality, business and trade sectors in Orange County, Mayor Jacobs said.

Central Florida Brazilian-American Community Leaders Visit Orange County

“We have an incredibly strong relationship with Brazil, already one of our top international tourism partners, and we remain focused on strengthening and growing that important cultural and economic connection.” The Central Florida Brazilian community leaders also discussed developing support and partnerships among business and community leaders in Orange County. To encourage more Brazilians to explore business and tourism in Central Florida, the CFBACC is embarking on an economic development mission to Brazil in October called “Doing Business in Brazil.” The mission team will bring information on the new regional branding campaign – “Orlando. You don’t know the half of it.” – to Brazil. The branding initiative is designed to boost awareness of Central Florida’s businesses and

innovation assets among targeted industry leaders and site selectors to encourage economic development and job creation. The U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office named Brazil one of the top 20 tourist generating countries in the United States in 2014. Almost 770,000 guests from Brazil visited Orlando in 2013. In May, Central Florida’s tourism economy further solidified the region’s position as the No. 1 global destination with Visit Orlando’s momentous announcement of 62 million guests visiting the region in 2014.

Mayor Jacobs Reads to Orange County Head Start Pre-Schoolers to Support Just 1 Book More than a dozen children from Orange County’s Head Start program joined Mayor Teresa Jacobs recently in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers for a reading of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. The reading took place in support of Just 1 Book, a charity that collects and distributes books to children in need, including Head Start Programs and other community organizations.

Teresa Jacobs. “It was such a delight to read to these bright and inquisitive children at our Orange County Head Start program. According to literacy organizations, less than half of young children in this country are read to regularly – so it’s imperative that we spend 10 or 15 minutes per day on this little investment that goes a long way.” Orange County has proudly supported Dewitz throughout her charitable journey, including the donation of the Just 1 Book Mobile, the van used to distribute books to families across Central Florida.

Founded by Sarah Dewitz when she was only 10 years old, Just 1 Book has donated more than 200,000 books to children in Florida since its founding in 2010. The charity is thriving and plans to expand services to New Head Start is a readiness program Jersey this year. that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent Reading to children is vital to their involvement services to pre-school development. World Cup Champion Uswnt To Face Brazil At Orlando Citrus Bowl On October 25

The Friendly Is Part Of A 10-Match Victory Tour Central Florida soccer fans can chalk up another milestone this year as the U.S. Women’s National Team returns to the Orlando Citrus Bowl for the first time since 2013, as part of the 10-match Victory Tour to celebrate the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship. The Orlando City Soccer Club and the City of Orlando, with the support of the Cen-

tral Florida Sports Commission and Florida Citrus Sports, have partnered to host the World Cup champions as they face historic rivals and current sixth-ranked global soccer power Brazil on October 25. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. ET.

Tickets are on sale through ussoccer. com and by phone at 1.800.745.3000. Groups of 20 or more can obtain an order form at ussoccer.com or call 312-528-1290.

Ultimate Fan Tickets (special VIP packages that include a premium ticket, a custom-made official U.S. National Team jersey with name and number, VIP access to the field before and after the game, and other unique benefits) are also available exclusively through ussoccer.com. Tickets are also available at all Ticketmaster ticket centers (including most Walmart locations) as well as the Chase Box Office at Amway Center (open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) [Note: Tickets are not sold at the Orlando Citrus Bowl except on the day of the event. Orlando City Season Ticket Members will receive a special pre-sale offer for this match. “Central Florida continues to grow into an international hub for professional soccer and it’s a great honor for us to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup Champions with our partners,” said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins. “Considering the massive support for top-caliber soccer in Central Florida, we will continue evaluating all opportunities to bring the highest levels of the sport to the market.” The U.S. team has a long history in Orlando, which was the training base for the U.S. team for the 1995 and 1999 Women’s World Cups and the 1996 Olympics. The USA played two matches at the Citrus Bowl during the 1996 Olympics. In November 2013, in front of 20,274 fans at the Orlando Citrus Bowl, the USA defeated Brazil 4-1 in the last friendly that year with two memorable goals from Sydney Leroux and a penalty kick from Abby Wambach. At the time, it was the largest crowd to see the USWNT in a stand-alone friendly in the southeast, as well as the highest attended home match for the women’s team of that

year. In late June, an international friendly between Mexico and Costa Rica took place at the Orlando Citrus Bowl – marking the Mexican team’s first visit to Orlando since the 1994 World Cup. Over 54,000 supporters attended that event. It is anticipated that Central Florida will once again show their support for the reigning Women’s World Cup champions on October 25. “We are proud to continue giving our community the soccer it craves,” said Mayor of Orlando Buddy Dyer. “It’s very evident that the soccer legacy has grown exponentially over the years, and opportunities like this one with the U.S. Women’s National Team will only strengthen Central Florida’s prominence on the global soccer scene.” “We’re so excited that the world-champion U.S. Women’s Soccer team and their Brazilian counterparts are coming to Central Florida,” said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs. “The physical fitness and capabilities of these athletes is simply remarkable, and their commitment to teamwork sets a wonderful example for us all – especially for our young people. It’s such an honor to have been selected as the location as part of their Victory Tour. I can’t wait to help fill the Citrus Bowl on October 25th for these world-class athletes.” Orlando City boasts one of the nation’s most competitive girl’s youth clubs featuring high-performing teams in the prestigious Elite Clubs National League (ECNL)—the highest level of play for girls in the United States. Orlando City’s U-14 girls’ team won the Florida Premier League title, while the U16 girls’ qualified for the ECNL Champions League National Finals.

As sports arenas rise up around them and the houses of neighbours are reduced to rubble, more than 20 families refuse to leave their favela, or squatter settlement, on the border of the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, vowing to fight eviction whatever the cost.

With just a year to go before the Games come to Brazil, over 90 percent of residents in the slum of Vila Autodromo have already left after accepting compensation and their homes destroyed. Some 50 or so families remain, living in a ghost town with spora dic access to water and electricity and having suffered violent run-ins with police. About half of those families are digging in their heels. The 450 families that have already been moved from the favela are just a small

part of more than 20,000 families re-located since 2009 in the state of Rio de Janeiro alone, many of them to make way for Olympic projects. Around half of the families still living in the favela say they are open to negotiating with local authorities about their resettlement. The holdouts of Vila Autodromo have become a powerful symbol against the use of the Olympic Games to modernise Rio, a move critics say is only benefiting the rich. The run-up to the World Cup last year was marked by the largest street protests in decades by Brazilians angry about the billions spent to host the event. While few are predicting similar demonstrations against the Olympics, social discontent is bubbling just below the surface.

The Olympic Dilemma for Rio Residents in Brazil demolished. "We have the right to stay and I think that those rights need to be respected," Penha said, referring to land titles given to resi dents by the state government in 1994. Rio's City Hall says some of these titles are invalid as the properties are in an area under environmental protection, while other parts of "I don't want to leave, I don't want to negotiate the sale of my house. I want to stay," said Maria da Penha,

50 years old, who has lived in Vila Autodromo for nearly half her life. She recently had her nose broken in a scuffle with police as holdouts tried to stop a home from being the favela need to be cleared to make way for access roads into the Olympic Park. The Mayor's office said fami lies who are neither inside the environmental zone nor where the roads will be built can stay. Residents say tactics on the ground go against such assurances.

Located off a main avenue in Rio's accusations it used violence or disprosperous beachside suburb of respected residents. In interviews with a dozen holdouts, residents described the neighbourhood as a "paradise” compared with other poor areas of Rio. "It is a community where there is no violence and where a lot of the residents have lived for Barra da Tijuca, Vila Autodromo is over 40 years. Most of them have a small strip of houses and unpaved gone now, but those that remain roads bordering a lagoon. make me want to stay,” said Jose Gomes, 65. “Money won't buy me.” The buildings vary from ramshackle cinder block homes, typical of squatter settlements, to well-built spacious houses overlooking the water. The City Hall says the negotiation process has been transparent and denies any

"Several countries are going through serious crisis, but Brazil, I think, has a special characteristic: we are, in fact, going through an extremely difficult moment," Rousseff said. However, she believes the country will be able to weather the downturn quickly. "We believe Brazil has the structural fundamentals to recover quickly. It isn't just a matter of believing it or not. We're betting on this, not because we have a rosy outlook of the situation. We don't. We believe Brazil has solid fundamentals because we know that what pushes inflation is conjectural, not structural. Inflation is being pushed

by relative price readjustments," she added. Brazil's annual inflation rate rose for a sixth straight month in June to 8.89 percent, up from 8.47 percent in May and nearly twice as much as the government's target of 4.5 percent. Inflation in Latin America's largest eco nomy has spiked in recent months after the president authorized hikes in utility rates and other government-set prices following her re-election to shore up public finances and fend off fears of a credit downgrade. Brazil is on the verge of recession and is also seeing rising budget deficits.

Brazil poses a larger threat of contagion for global financial markets than other emerging economies, far eclipsing Russia and China, Fitch Ratings said on Wednesday, giving highlights of an upcoming survey of European fixed-income investors

Although the investors did not elaborate on the reasons for their choices, Fitch analysts Shelly Shetty and Monica Insoll noted that foreigners are heavily invested in Brazil's debt at a moment when the country faces severe economic headwinds.

The investors, who manage an estimated 7.8 trillion euros in assets, considered economic imbalances, political challenges and U.S. interest rates to select the two biggest contagion threats from a list of five major emerging market countries that also included Turkey and India.

An expected recession, coupled with rising inflation and budget deficits, is making it tough for President Dilma Rousseff to meet her fiscal savings goals, putting at risk Brazil's coveted investment-grade sovereign rating.

Seventy-six percent of the respondents selected Brazil, while 38 percent picked Russia and 36 percent chose China. Turkey and India were chosen by 30 percent and 7 percent of investors, respectively.

With the country hobbled by legislative gridlock, a lack of viable alternatives to the established political parties and an economic reversal so complete that its currency is trading at a 12-year trough, there are no easy or fast fixes. The latest in a round of demonstrations across Brazil this year came as the economy reels from its sharpest slowdown in three decades, a vast corruption scandal ensnares political and corporate kingpins and a federal audit considers rejecting the government’s 2014 book-keeping.

Harbor House CEO Carol Wick said this past February when her organization received this financial support. “What this allows us to do is not only shelter everybody that needs that shelter but also help them get back on their feet. “We really feel this is a great influx of funds to be able to help us build a rapid rehousing program and get it going as a best practice here in Florida,” Wick added. The Harbor House of Central Florida was one of 21 organizations in Central Florida that received financial assistance from OMYF-MFF. A total of $1 million was distributed. One of the amazing aspects of the Harbor House is how quickly they offer their support for victims. In fact, they make sure they are involved before those desperate calls to the police

and before abusers lash out in anger. Right from the get-go, Harbor House is ready to educate and evacuate.

Just two months after receiving funds from the Magic, Harbor House was able to move 19 families (52 people total) out of shelters into permanent homes. The startling statistics emphasize just how common and prevalent domestic violence has become in the United States: Ending domestic violence starts with education and prevention. Many victims of abuse are desperate for help, but often don’t know how to tell their story or admit there is a problem.

Domestic violence is the third leading cause of homelessness among families, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development More than four million women experience physical assault by their partners More than three million children witness domestic violence in their homes every year In the past five years, OMYF-MFF has granted nearly $5 million to various organizations throughout Central Florida. In the past 25 years, OMYFMFF has given $19.8 million to 500 nonprofit organizations – funding that has impacted more than two million children and people in need.

There is one local organization, however, that is making it much easier for domestic abuse victims to escape danger and improve their overall conditions. “One of the fundamentals of my parents and my family is us giving back with your time, treasure or whatever you have,” said Dan DeVos, son of owner Rich DeVos. “Everybody needs to give a little bit back because we all benefit so much from this community.” The $1 million in funds given to the Central Florida difference-making organizations is raised by Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, and the match provided by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. After an extensive five-phase process, which began in April of 2014, the beneficiaries were recommended by the OMYF Board and then approved by the McCormick Foundation’s Board of Directors. 2015 OMYF-MFF GRANT RECIPIENTS: Aspire Health Partners – Zebra Coalition, Apopka Family Learning Center, BETA Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Children’s Home Society of Florida, City Year Orlando, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Elevate Orlando, Florida Hospital for Children, Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, Foundation for Seminole State College of Florida, Harbor House of Central Florida, Hope Community Center, Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando, Junior Achievement of Central Florida, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Osceola County Council on Aging, The Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families and the University of Central Florida Foundation, Valencia College Foundation.

The Love Pantry is an initiative of the Christian Service Center in partnership with Orange and Seminole County Public Schools. Since program inception in 2011, more than 8,000 family members across 63 different Love Pantries in Orange and Seminole County schools have been provided food, hygiene items and community resource information. Each participating school is provided with a lockable cabinet supplied with emergency food and basic hygiene items which is replenished on a weekly basis by volunteers. When a student or family is in need, the school’s staff member can go to the cabinet to provide enough food for one or several family meals.

Infelizmente, a realidade atual é outra.

Copos De Plástico Os Treinadores No Brasil Daniel Braune http://danielbraune.blogspot.com.br
