Coming Home to the Poore House

With a beautiful thirty-nine acre farm, Ricky and Sherry Poore knew there was only one thing still missing to complete their dream homestead in Albany, Kentucky. The Poores always had a faint vision of a rustic log home sitting in a wide open field. This dream was

only heightened after vacationing in a log cabin in Gatlinburg, further advancing their desire for a log home. Although they had looked at many companies, they eventually settled on Honest Abe because of its past history of satisfied customers and the unique relationship they had began to build with the people that worked there. The sales team, Edd White and Greg Watson, were involved very early on in hammering out every step of the process, making sure the final result was exactly what the Poores envisioned for. As the plans were drawn, Ricky and Sherry were actively involved in the process of designing their home, even attending several log raisings to get a better idea of all the options available to them. On April 27, 2009, they signed the contract to begin the process of erecting their home. With the base-

ment dug in early May, construction on the house began almost immediately following. What was once just a vague dream in the mind of the Poores was now beginning to materialize right before their eyes. Construction, often times a very difficult and frustrating part of the process in many houses, came together with relatively few problems because of the professionalism of Joe Isenberg and his crew. Rarely missing any days, communication between the builders and occupants ensured the complete satisfaction with the final result. It was obvious Ricky had a special bond with this house because he not only general con-

their home an impressive eleven months after signing the contract. The Log Home was a custom, single story house made with Milled D Logs. The basement along with a loft

gave the house a spacious, comfortable look adding much needed space for Ricky and Sherry to host friends and family. Overlooking a small lake, the beautifully decorated loft was designed specifically to take advantage of this breathtaking view. Stepping outside, the uncluttered property, combined with a dream log home and garage, give the feeling of a vacation home. However, the real beauty of it is unlike the cabin in Gatlinburg, the Poores get to come home to it every night! Article by: Greg Watson & Ed White, Sales Representatives for Honest Abe Log Homes.

tracted the house, he also did the vast majority of the finishing. With the house finally completed, the Poores were able to move into

Little Details Equal Big Differences

It’s the little details that count up to BIG differences that you want to look for when comparing the quality of log home packages. Consider a few of the special touches we add to our log packages:

1. We have recently added Sill Seal to our subfloor system – just

one more barrier between the foundation and subfloor system. 2. Most log homes put some type of gasket or seal between the logs, most of the time using a PVC type product – but Honest Abe goes a step beyond ordinary and uses a urethane gasket, The difference is that the urethane gasket has “memory” and will not stay compressed, thus maintaining an air-tight seal between logs. 3. Our logs are KILN dried at OUR plant and PRE-CUT just for YOUR home. We even PRE-CUT the door and window rough opening jambs. After all, YOUR log home is one of a kind, and your design is unique. 4. We use the highest quality materials. For example, in our heavy timber roof and ceiling beam system we use #1 AND BETTER Doug Fir timbers and Premium Select 2x6 Spruce T&G. And, we use the highest grade of ISO rigid insulation (R-30) in the roof. 5. We provide all the doors (interior and exterior) and windows, including any FIXED windows. Plus, we provide ALL of the interior AND exterior TRIM around the windows and doors. 6. If you are building within the 150 mile radius of the plant, we bring an off-loader to assist in the delivery of your package. 7. If you are within our 300 mile labor zone and you use Honest Abe labor for your dry-in, you have the security of knowing that the labor is 100% guaranteed by Honest Abe. So when it is all added up, including the quality of all the “little things”, the sum total is a terrific log package with guaranteed value and outstanding service. Bill McKee’s log home located in Lenoir City, Tennessee has a lot of things going for it. Big arch windows to enjoy the nice view, and a spacious porch to enjoy the weather relaxing in the porch swing are just a couple. Honest Abe Log Home owner herself, and the Sales Consultant at Crossville, Tennessee. It didn’t take him long to get things running, five months later plans had been approved, landscaping done, foundation completed and Joe Isenberg and crew had the house in the dry.
