S
otogrande se posiciona en un escalón privilegiado del escaparate internacional, como referencia y defensor de un estilo de vida único, ubicado en uno de los enclaves más selectos e insuperables en el panorama del sur de Europa. Amante de los caballos desde niña y embajadora de la doma clásica en Sotogrande, Anunciada Torras nos abre la puerta de Dos Lunas para hablarnos de este noble arte y de los orígenes de su exclusivo club ecuestre.

"La doma es un arte, es darle a un ser vivo la mayor expresividad y eso necesita una dedicaciÓn diaria" • Anunciada, es un auténtico placer tenerte en las páginas de nuestra revista y acogernos en este maravilloso lugar como es Dos Lunas. Para comenzar, vayamos al inicio. Cuéntanos, ¿de dónde viene tu gran pasión por el mundo del caballo?
Creo que la pasión la llevaba yo dentro, porque en mi familia no había nadie que montase a caballo. Mi amiga -Rocío Arango Belmonte, que es la nieta de Juan Belmonte- fue quien me introdujo en el mundo de los caballos, aunque siempre me habían llamado la atención. Desde pequeña, con catorce o quince años, empecé con el salto. Luego tuve un parón antes de casarme, hice jardinería y paisajismo, puericultura, me fui a aprender idiomas… No fue hasta después de tener a mis hijos cuando pensé voy a volver a montar a caballo. Mi marido Álvaro me dijo entonces: por qué no haces doma clásica. Así fue como empecé y me enganchó. Yo creo que la doma es como la música clásica, cuando la empiezas a entender y a ver el mundo que hay dentro te enloquece, ya no quieres hacer otra cosa. • ¿Qué aspectos dirías que son más importantes en la doma clásica?
Lo más importante es pensar todo el tiempo en qué es lo mejor para el caballo. El caballo es lo principal. Tenemos que cuidarlo todo:

dónde pisan, qué comen, su estado mental, equilibrarlos para que te den lo mejor de sí. Una doma forzada es muy fea. Todo tiene que ser fluido, bonito. La doma es un arte, es darle a un ser vivo la mayor expresividad y eso necesita una dedicación diaria. • ¿Dónde disfruta más: en ese entrenamiento del día a día o durante una competición?
Para mí lo más bonito es el día a día. En el fondo los concursos son el examen final. Ahora sí tengo muchas ganas de que lleguen las Olimpiadas, se van a celebrar en Francia, en Versalles. Para mí van a ser muy especiales porque se unen dos de mis aficiones: la doma y el paisajismo. • ¿Cómo empieza el sueño de Dos Lunas Dressage & Polo?
El sueño de Dos Lunas fue algo que surgió cuando venía de veraneo. Yo traía a mis dos caballos y no encontraba un sitio adecuado para tenerlos. Al principio empezamos a pensar en tener algo para el polo pero luego pensé: puedo hacer algo para doma. Desde entonces ha ido evolucionando gracias a un equipo muy bueno que tengo desde el principio. Todo se ha ido dando sin buscarlo. Hasta yo misma me sorprendo.

• Anunciada, it is a real pleasure to have you among the pages of our magazine and to be welcomed in this marvellous place, Dos Lunas. To begin with, let´s go the start. Tell us, where does your great passion for the equestrian world come from?
everything: where they step, what they eat, their mental state, balancing them so they give their best. Forced dressage is very ugly. Everything has to be fluid, beautiful. Dressage is an art, it is giving a living being the greatest expressiveness and that requires daily devotion.
I believe that I had the passion in me, because there was nobody in my family who rode horses. I have a friend -Rocío Arango Belmonte, who is the granddaughter Juan Belmonte- and she was the one who introduced me to the world of horses, although they had always attracted me.
• Where do you most enjoy yourself: in the daily training or during a competition?
At a young age, fourteen or fifteen, I started show jumping. Then I had a break before getting married, I did gardening and landscaping, childcare, I went to learn languages... It wasn´t until after having my children that I thought I am going to return to horse-riding. Then my husband Álvaro told me: why don´t you do classical dressage. That is how I got started and I was hooked. I believe that dressage is like classical music, when you begin to understand and to see the inner world, you become crazy about it, you no longer want to do anything else. • Which aspects would you say are most important in classical dressage?
The most important thing is to think all the time about what is best for the horse. The horse is the main thing. We have to take care of
For me the daily training is the most beautiful part. Ultimately, competitions are the end exam. However, now I am really looking forward to the Olympic, which are going to take place in France, in Versailles. For me, they are going to be very special because they are combine two of my passions: dressage and landscaping. • How did the dream of Dos Lunas Dressage & Polo begin?
The dream of Dos Lunas was something that emerged when I came for summer holidays. I brought my two horses and I couldn´t find an appropriate place to keep them. To begin with we thought about having something for polo but then I thought: I can do something for dressage. Since then it has gradually evolved thanks to a very good team which I have had since the beginning. Everything has come without looking for it. Even I am surprised.

• Hoy sois un punto ecuestre de referencia en Europa.
No sé si tanto, pero hemos llegado a un punto en que a la gente le gusta venir aquí, disfrutar de los concursos y eso, la verdad, me da mucha alegría. Nos entusiasma para seguir. Lo que más me sorprende es que la gente viene ahora en invierno, justamente es la época en que más hace falta. • ¿Puede Dos Lunas, con el apoyo adecuado, llegar a ser escenario de un gran concurso internacional?
Claro. Me lo han propuesto muchas veces, me da miedo porque en la época de febrero es cuando más suele llover aquí. Pero sí, yo creo que el futuro puede ser un internacional. Aquí en el sur de Europa no teníamos antes buenas competiciones, pero ahora Portugal está haciendo internacionales buenos. Tenemos que hacer competiciones buenas para que la gente buena quiera venir. • ¿Recuerdas todos caballos qué has tenido?, ¿qué importancia tiene el caballo para ti?
Recuerdo casi todos los caballos. A mí el caballo me ha dado muchísimo, ha sido un apoyo muy importante para superar dificultades. Para mí subirme a un caballo es esa sensación de unir dos almas, caballo y jinete, es precioso. Cualquier persona sensible lo aprecia, aunque no haya visto nunca la doma. Hay algo especial, una conexión.

• Today you are a benchmark equestrian point in Europe.
I don´t know if we are that, but we have reached a point where people like coming here, enjoying competitions, and honestly, that brings me a lot of joy. It motivates us to keep going. What most surprises me is that people now come in winter, which is precisely the team when it is most needed. • Can Dos Lunas, with the right support, become the setting for a major international competition?
Of course. I have been proposed that many time, it scares me because February time is when it rains most here. But yes, I think the future could be an international. Before, we didn´t have good competitions in southern Europe, but now Portugal is doing good internationals. We need to do good competitions in order for good people to want to come. • Do you remember all the horses you have had? What importance do horses have for you?
I remember almost all the horses. Horses have given me so much; they have been an importance source of support to overcome difficulties. For me, getting on a horse is the feeling of uniting two souls, the horse and rider, it is beautiful. Any sensitive person feels it, even if they have never seen dressage. There is something special, a connection.

• ¿Crees que has sabido transmitir a tu familia esa pasión por el caballo?
• ¿Qué deseo le queda conseguir en el mundo caballo?

• Ya para terminar, ¿qué ha significado Sotogrande para ti y tu familia?
No sé si les he transmitido tanto, pero desde luego a mi hijo - Pascual Sainz de Vicuñayo sí le veo cuando juega al polo que es muy sensible con los caballos, que tiene mucha conexión con ellos. Esto es como los amores, tienes un caballo con el que te compenetras, con el que te llevas bien, sabes que es especial. Es igual que cuando te enamoras.
Un internacional, terminar haciendo un gran premio. No por ganar, sino por sentir que he podido llegar al público, que he podido sentir en la pista lo que tengo que sentir, eso es lo más bonito después de un entrenamiento de tantos años.
Sotogrande cada vez lo valoro más, porque creo que lo tiene todo. Está creciendo muy bien y eso es bueno. Ves mucha gente de fuera que se está viniendo a vivir aquí. Antes Sotogrande solo era un sitio de verano, ahora también es un sitio de invierno.
• Do you believe you have been able to pass on that passion for horses to your family?
• What wishes do you still have to fulfil in the equestrian world?
• To finish, what has Sotogrande meant for you and your family?
An international, to end up doing a grand prix. Not to win it, but rather to feel that I have been able to reach the public, that I have been able to feel in the arena what I need to experience, that is the most beautiful thing after training for so many years.
I increasingly value Sotogrande, because I think it has everything. It is growing really well and that is good. You see a lot of people from abroad who are coming to live here. Previously, Sotogrande was only a summer place, now it is also a winter place.
I don´t know if I have passed on much, but of course my son -Pascual Sainz de Vicuña- I can see him playing polo because he is very sensitive to horses, he has a real connection with them. This is like loves, you have a horse that you have a real connection with, that you get on well with, you know that it is special. It is like when you fall in love.

Entre ellas se encuentra el nuevo ‘Island Chambao’, una isla privada en el interior de la laguna para grupos de hasta 12 personas y que cuenta con una zona de playa doble y un espacio privado con camas chambao, perfectas para relajarse con privacidad y exclusividad garantizadas. Aparte de eso, este refinado concepto de club de playa dispone de diferentes espacios de descanso, adaptados a las necesidades de su clientela, con una zona de hamacas familiar para padres y niños y otra solo para adultos. Los

visitantes pueden elegir entre reservar las hamacas o vivir una experiencia completa optando por cualquiera de los paquetes especiales que incluyen desde deportes acuáticos, almuerzo en el restaurante, sushi en la hamaca y champán premium. Con el planeta entero encerrado en casa y el tráfico aéreo bloqueado, sus clientes vieron inviable la posibilidad de viajar a España y conocer en persona aquellas propiedades que más les interesaban, así que ellos decidieron ponérselo más fácil. ¿Cómo? Mostrándoselas en vídeo. Así es como nació MaroBrothers, el original proyecto de estos dos hermanos que se propusieron revolucionar el

“Todo empezó de forma amateur, no profesional. Hicimos nuestro primer video con el móvil. Intentamos hacerlo lo mejor posible para que el cliente sintiera de verdad cómo era la casa y le encantó. Realmente había podido percibir cómo era la vivienda, qué era lo que iba a encontrar, sin necesidad de venir aquí. Fue entonces cuando nos dimos cuenta de que era el camino a seguir”, explican a La Revista de Sotogrande.

“Everything began in an amateur, nonprofessional way. We did our first video using our mobiles. We tried to do it as well as possible in order for clients to truly feel what the home was like and they love it. They were actually able to perceive what the home was like, what they were going to find, without the need to come here. That was when we realised that it was the path to follow” they explain to Sotogrande Magazine.

Pero esto fue solo el principio, de manera autodidacta los hermanos empezaron a adquirir más destreza en el rodaje y preparación de los videos, pasaron de grabar con el móvil a utilizar drones y cámaras de alta resolución. Patrick, como director creativo, se ocupa de la dirección y el montaje. Dominik es la cara visible, el encargado de acompañar a los espectadores por un tour único a través de viviendas millonarias y exclusivas –sus precios oscilan entre los cinco y los dieciséis millones de euros-, la mayoría ubicadas entre Sotogrande y Marbella, donde ellos residen. A día de hoy los MaroBrothers ya no se dedican a la venta, se han especializado en exclusiva en este tipo de marketing inmobiliario, pionero en España. “Nos enfocamos sobre todo en grabar propiedades que tengan una arquitectura interesante, tanto si tienen un toque más contemporáneo, como si mantienen el estilo clásico arquitectónico andaluz. Lo importante es que sean casas únicas. Por ejemplo

hicimos hace un año un video de un castillo en Ronda. Para nosotros es importante enseñar ese tipo de propiedades tan poco conocidas. Así ayudamos a los propietarios a vender la casa y nosotros podemos generar un buen contenido”. Quienes los siguen en redes lo saben, sus videos nunca son un simple tour visual. However, this was only the beginning, in a self-taught way the brothers began to acquire more skill filming and preparing the videos, they went from recording with their mobiles to using drones and hi-resolution cameras. Patrick, as creative director, is responsible for management and production. Dominik is the visible face, the person responsible for accompanying the viewers along a unique tour through exclusive properties worth millions -their prices range between five and sixteen million Euros-, mostly located between Sotogrande and Marbella, where they reside.
At present, the MaroBrothers no longer sell, they have exclusively specialised in this type of property marketing, which is pioneering in Spain. “Above all, we focus on recording properties that have interesting architecture, whether they have a more contemporary touch, or if they maintain a classic Andalusian architectural style. Su objetivo, al fin y al cabo, es conquistar a cuantos más seguidores mejor y hasta ahora la estrategia funciona. “Hace poco un adolescente nos contactó porque había visto nuestros videos en Youtube. Sus padres tenían una casa en la Zagaleta y estaban interesados en que hiciésemos un video de la propiedad. Fue realmente a través del hijo como llegamos a los padres, por eso las redes sociales tienen tanto potencial”. Tras grabar algunas de sus últimas propiedades en Sotogrande –como es el caso de Villa Blue en La Reserva, diseñada por ARK Arquitectos-, los MaroBrothers aspiran ahora a ampliar sus fronteras, grabar también fuera de España. El sur de Andalucía seguirá siendo su base, pero sin duda el éxito cosechado hasta ahora impulsa a estos dos hermanos a continuar creciendo y seguir mostrando a sus seguidores el corazón de estas viviendas asombrosas.

Sólo los más privilegiados pueden adentrarse en este santuario donde hoy se conservan casi un millar de gorilas de montaña, gracias a un importante esfuerzo de conservación.

The adventure of searching for the last mountain gorillas in the impenetrable rainforests of Rwanda. Despite its conflictive past, in recent years this country has been recognised as one of the safest in Africa and an essential destination for those who love nature. Only the most privileged can delve into this sanctuary which is currently home to almost one thousand mountain gorillas, thanks to a significant conservation effort. Next to the mountains where these large primates live and opposite a nature site scattered with extinct volcanoes is Bisate Lodge. A complex system of forts was erected on the site where the town centre now stands -their remains are still preserved in the forts of Santa Bárbara and San Felipe- called “the Lines of Contravallation”. A name that years later would result in La Línea de la Concepción, in honour of the patron saint of the infantry.

Una Línea UNA LÍNEA DE SABORES
La gastronomía de La Línea de la Concepción sin duda merece un capítulo aparte. Agrupada bajo la nueva marca gastronómica “Una Línea de sabores”, la ciudad pretende convertirse en referente del turismo gastronómico gracias a una cocina que parte –como no podía ser de otra forma- del mar. Se trata de una gastronomía que combina la excelencia de los productos de la tierra y el mar para conformar platos tan exquisitos como variados, con reminiscencias que van desde la tradición mediterránea a la árabe, aderezada con el fuerte influjo de su tradición pesquera. Algunos de sus platos más populares son las navajas a la plancha, el potaje de jibia, el choco
frito, el calamar relleno, el pulpo a la brasa, las almejas fritas o el espeto de sardinas.
La mejor manera de adentrarse en los ricos sabores de La Línea es ir probando poco a poco. La ciudad es todo un referente del tapeo como bien saben la mayoría de los campogibraltareños. En cualquiera de los bares del casco urbano el buen tapeo está más que asegurado, pero uno de los sitios por donde sí o sí hay que pasar es el típico Barrio de la Atunara, situado en primera línea de playa y considerado el más antiguo de la ciudad. En el año 2010 fue declarado Barrio Gastronómico Marinero.
El tapeo es un acontecimiento tan importante en La Línea que hasta tiene su propia ruta. Cada año el Ayuntamiento organiza entre finales del mes de octubre y principios de noviembre su tradicional Ruta de la Tapa. Una cita ineludible tanto para los vecinos de La Línea, como para sus visitantes, en un evento que durante cuatro días conjuga comida y espectáculos llenando de vida las calles de la ciudad. A esta ruta se suma otra de reciente incorporación, la Ruta del Atún, que tendrá lugar desde el 29 de abril hasta el 2 de mayo y que propone un nuevo recorrido por las tapas de la ciudad pero todas ellas con el atún rojo de Barbate como materia prima.

The gastronomy of La Línea de la Concepción undoubtedly deserves a separate chapter. Grouped under the new gastronomic brand “La Línea of Flavours”, the city aims to become a benchmark in gastronomic tourism thanks to cuisine that is based -as you would expect- on the sea. It is a culinary selection that combines the excellence of the products of the land and sea to produce dishes that are as exquisite as they are varied, with reminiscences that range from the Mediterranean tradition to the Arabic, seasoned with the strong influence of its fishing tradition. Some of its most popular dishes are the grilled razor
clams, the cuttlefish stew, fried cuttlefish, squid, grilled octopus, sardine spit and the unique flying fish.
The best way to delve into the delicious flavours of La Línea is to gradually try things. The city is a real benchmark for going out for tapas as most people in Campo de Gibraltar know. In any of the bars in the city centre, good tapas are guaranteed, but one of the places that you simply have to visit is the typical La Atunara neighbourhood, located on the beachfront and considered the oldest in the city. In 2010 it was declared a Maritime Gastronomic Neighbourhood.
Tapas is such an important event in La Línea that it even has its own date marked on the calendar. Each year, the traditional Tapas Route takes place between the end of October and the start of November. An unmissable event for both the residents of La Línea and its visitors, in an event that brings together food and shows over four days, filling the streets of the city with life.
In addition to this route, another has recently been added, the Tuna Route, which will take place from 29 April until 2 May and it offers a new route around the tapas of the city but all with the bluefin tuna of Barbate as the raw ingredient.

Ensaladas, fruta, quesos, crepes. Cuando llega la primavera las terrazas y piscinas se convierten en el “territorio brunch” por excelencia. Para acompañar estas comidas ligeras lo más recomendable es echar mano de un vino fresco y afrutado. El Marqués de Riscal Rosado, con su bonito color rosa pálido y sus aromas fragantes de fruta roja, tiene un estilo refrescante y fácil de beber, ideal para un aperitivo a media mañana. LA EDAD DE ORO DEL CINE ESPAÑOL EN HOLLYWOOD / L A E DA D D E O R O D E L C I N E E S PA Ñ O L E N H O L LY WO O D • Tras cinco años de sequía en nominaciones y premios, Fernando Trueba y su Belle Époque dieron la campanada en 1994 haciéndose con el premio a la mejor película de habla no inglesa e inaugurando una época dorada del cine español en Hollywood que aún perdura: Tras ella llegaron las nominaciones a Secretos del corazón (1998), de Montxo Armendáriz, El abuelo (1999), de José Luis Garci y Tango (1999), de Carlos Saura, preludio del primer Óscar para Almodóvar por Todo sobre mi madre en la gala del año 2000. • Después de que Javier Bardem fuera por primera vez nominado por su papel protagonista en Antes que anochezca (2001), 2003 alumbró una polémica repetida casi veinte años después en nuestros días con los mismos protagonistas: la Academia Española decidió mandar a concurso Los lunes al sol de Fernando León de Aranoa en lugar de Hablé con ella, de Pedro Almodóvar. La primera no pasó el corte
final mientras que el film del manchego, que también fue nominado a mejor director, acabó llevándose la estatuilla al mejor guion original. • 2005 fue el año de Alejandro Amenábar. Two years again Bardem would win the best Oscar for a Spanish actor in history: the one corresponding to best supporting actor for the Coen brothers film No Country for Old Men. A year later, his current partner Penélope Cruz won the same award for her work on Vicky Cristina Barcelona, by Woody Allen. Nor should we forget the two awards received by Spaniards in 2007 thanks to the successful Pan's Labyrinth: David Martí and Montse Ribé for best makeup and hair and Pilar Revuelta and Eugenio Caballero for best art direction.

La que acaban de leer es una de las frases que componen el último libro del escritor y periodista manilveño Paco Gil Mora. Una colección de relatos que, bajo el título ‘Ángeles Caídos’, constituyen –como la frase anterior- una banda sonora sentimental de que lo ha supuesto este excepcional periodo histórico del que aún no hemos acabado de salir. Sus veinticuatro historias conforman un retrato colectivo capaz de captar el instante preciso, la emoción exacta de este momento como el cuadro de un incendio o de una tormenta embravecida. Ahí es donde reside su fuerza y su verdad. Los tres -la ciudad, las carreras y el reloj- son parte indisoluble de una larga leyenda marcada por la pasión y la velocidad. Todo comenzó a principios del siglo XX cuando las playas de Daytona lograron fama mundial como pistas de carreras, albergando algunos de los principales records del mundo de velocidad. El más importante, en 1935, alcanzó los casi 450 kilómetros por hora a manos del piloto británico Malcolm Campbell. En 1950 comenzó a construirse el que sería el gran templo de la automoción: el Daytona International Speedway, el circuito más rápido de Estados Unidos con 2,5 millas de largo (4 km) y curvas con más de 10 metros de desnivel. Aquí fue donde nació en 1962 una de las carreras de resistencia más prestigiosas del mundo junto con las 24 Horas de Le Mans, conocida primero bajo el nombre de Daytona Continental y más tarde como la Rolex 24 At Daytona.
All three -the city, the races and the watch- are an integral part of a long myth marked by passion and speed. Everything began at the start of the 20th century when the beaches of Daytona gained worldwide fame as race tracks, hosting some of the main worldwide speed records. The most important, in 1935, reached almost 450 kilometres per hour, with the British driver Malcolm Campbell. In 1950, construction began on what would become the great temple of motorsport: the Daytona International Speedway, the quickest circuit in the United States, 2.5 miles long (4 kilometres) and with bends with height changes of more than 10 metres. Rolex gave its name to the race -in fact it is known commonly known as “The Rolex” and, in exchange, it borrowed the name of Daytona for a new and exclusive model created in 1963, almost at the same time as the competition. More than a watch, the Cosmograph Daytona by Rolex is a competitive tool. With its tachymetric scale, its three counters and its pushers, it was designed to meet the timing demands of endurance racing drivers. The chronograph allows drivers to measure the time elapsed. The hours and minutes are read on the unmistakeable counters of the watch, located at 9h and 3h respectively,
and the seconds are displayed on a 60-second scale on the edge of the face, indicated by the central needle which ends in the date. The bezel has a tachymetric scale which makes it possible to read the average speed at a specific distance according to the time elapsed. This scale offers optimal readability, which makes the Cosmograph Daytona the perfect instrument for measuring speed up to 400 units per hour, whether kilometres or miles.

Todas ellas se disputarán en fines de semana largos (entre jueves y domingo), con equipos entre 6 y 8 goles de HCP. La Copa de Bienvenida (12-15 de mayo), dará el pistoletazo de salida, seguida de la Copa San Enrique de Guadiaro (1922 mayo) y Copa KE Sotogrande, entre el 26 y 29 de mayo.
La Copa Joseph McMicking despierta el mes de junio con la presentación de un torneo de doble categoría, con equipos de 6/8 y 12/14 goles de hándicap que se disputará entre el 2 y 12 de junio (nada menos que dos semanas de competición). La Copa de España, con idéntico formato y categoría dual, se celebrará posteriormente entre el 16 y 26 de junio.
Con el inicio del mes del verano, por excelencia, el último fin de semana de mayo y el primero de junio arranca con la Copa Memorial Fundador Enrique Zobel, una cita de larga duración (hasta dos semanas), que reunirá dos categorías en la competición (equipos de 6/8 goles y de 12 a 14). Ésta tomará lugar entre el 30 de mayo y el 10 de junio. Sin duda, una antesala de categoría para el inicio del 51º Torneo Internacional de Polo en Sotogrande que arrancará con su Copa de Bronce el 25 de julio y que presentará más de un mes de altísima competición con equipos de Alto y Mediano HCP (entre 12/14 y 18/20 goles de hándicap, respectivamente).

An edition where old friends are returning and that now has a venue for the Grand Finale: the historic Real Club de Golf Sotogrande (18 November). The adventure gets underway on 4 June at La Reserva Club Sotogrande, an eagerly awaited return for the players.
The second event is taking place at Almenara Golf – SO/ Sotogrande (9 July), it continues with a course that is new on the circuit, nothing less than the New Course at La Zagaleta (20 August). Competiciones infantiles, embarcaciones de recreo, lujosos yates, regatas internacionales, su reconocibles catamaranes frente a la Escuela de Vela o incluso practicar el esquí acuático o el moderno paddel surf son parte de esa vida latente en Sotogrande durante todo el año pero son precisamente en aquellas temporadas en las que el sol coincide más veces en las que muestra su mayor esplendor. Por supuesto, al hablar del mar, es imposible no recordar la figura de Antonio Muñoz y su pasión por el mar y amor a Sotogrande. Él como principal promotor y algunos amigos más se encargaron de adquirir la primera flota de catamaranes en Sotogrande, aquellos famosos Hobie Cat, que aún pueden verse como parte del paisaje en la zona costera de la urbanización (podemos ver fotos de hace más de cuarenta años con dichas embarcaciones como telón de fondo durante un partido de polo en las canchas de la playa).

Children’s´ competitions, recreational vessels, luxury yachts, international regattas, the recognisable catamarans in front of the Sailing School and even doing water skiing or the modern paddle surfing are part of the underlying life in Sotogrande during the entire year but it is precisely in the seasons where the sun coincides most that it shows its greatest splendour. Of course, when talking about the sea, it is impossible not to remember the figure of Antonio Muñoz and his passion for the sea and love of Sotogrande. He was the main promoter and some other friends were responsible for purchasing the first fleet of catamarans in Sotogrande, the famous Hobbie Cats, which can still be seen as part of the landscape in the coastal area of the resort (we can see photos from more than forty years ago with these vessels in the background during a polo match on the pitches of the beach).

Destacar también, obviamente con el impulso de Muñoz y el apoyo de otras figuras como Felipe Oriol y la colaboración de entidades como el Puerto de Sotogrande o el propio Sotogrande, la constitución en la década de los 90 del Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande (entidad que llegó a acoger en 1997 un Campeonato del Mundo y que cada verano, en el puente de agosto, celebra al prestigiosa Regata Copa Sootogrande). Y es que Sotogrande siempre ha vivido mirando al mar, un concepto que se puede apreciar no sólo en el lifestyle de su comunidad, sino en su propia arquitectura que siempre se encuentra orientada hacia el azul. Un legado que hoy se sigue disfrutando, más que nunca y de una manera más excelsa.
