Mejoras estructurales para el Valle del Guadiaro

Parece que toda marcha sobre la seda y en barcaza sobre río de plata, pero no todo lo que reluce es siempre de varios quilates. No es una cuestión de limitar únicamente las cuestiones que afectan al entorno al perímetro residencial de Sotogrande, es una situación que en varios conflictos afecta de una manera predominante a todo el Valle del Guadiaro y sector norte del Campo de Gibraltar. En las páginas de este periódico, así como en nuestra plataforma Sotograndedigital.com , llevamos días recogiendo algunas deficiencias y reclamaciones que deben atenderse para mantener el nivel tan necesario, precisamente en el entorno y área de influencia de una de las urbanizaciones residenciales más prestigiosas y lucrativas (para las administraciones), de todo el sur de Europa.

Cuestiones como la falta de adecentamiento y arreglos en vías y zonas aledañas a los accesos del resort. Falta de iniciativa para resolver problemas como el del Puente de Hierro que afectan al tráfico rodado pesado, así como la propia iniciativa del Ayuntamiento de San Roque por reclamar una segunda ITV, cediendo suelo municipal, para descongestionar la colapsada situación de la de Algeciras, son aspectos que mejorarían y mucho la necesidad de servicios de interés y calidad en la zona.

Simplemente, si ha tenido en algún momento la necesidad de moverse por la A-7 en dirección Cádiz, prácticamente a cualquier hora del día, pero especialmente en las horas centrales de la jornada, verá el colapso y la “incomunicación” que ello conlleva.

Evidentemente, no todo es negativo, al contrario. Pero mientras todo ocurre hay cuestiones que debemos afrontar. Cierto es, que la sequía o la falta de lluvia puede estar más o menos en nuestra mano arreglarlo (no podemos hacer que llueva, pero sí gestionar mejor los recursos); pero hay otras alternativas que son necesarias de analizar. ¿Y si pusieran en marcha el proyecto de Gibralmedina?

Structural improvements for Valle del Guadiaro

It seems that everything is going as smooth as silk and in a barge on a silver river, but not everything that glitters always has the right number of carats. It is not a matter of limiting only the issues that affect the surroundings to the residential perimeter of Sotogrande, it is a situation which, in various conflicts, predominantly affects the entire Valle del Guadiaro and the northern sector of Campo de Gibraltar.

On the pages of this newspaper, as well as on our Sotograndedigital.com platform, we have spent days setting out some shortcomings and complaints that must be addressed to maintain the much-needed level, precisely in terms of the surroundings and area of influence of one of the most prestigious and lucrative (for the administrations) residential developments in the whole of southern Europe.

Issues such as the lack of clean-up and repairs on roads and areas surrounding the accesses of the resort. Lack of initiative to solve problems such as the Iron Bridge that affect heavy road traffic, as well as the initiative of the San Roque City Council itself to demand a second ITV (Technical Inspection Centre), ceding municipal land, to relieve the chaotic situation of Algeciras, are aspects that would greatly improve the need for services of interest and quality in the area.

Quite simply, if at any time you have needed to use the A-7 in the direction of Cádiz, practically at any time of the day, but especially in the central hours of the day, you will bear witness to the chaos and the “lack of communication” that this entails.

Self-evidently, not everything is negative, on the contrary. But whilst everything is happening there are issues that we must face. It is true that drought or lack of rain may be more or less within our power to sort out (we cannot make it rain, but we can manage resources better); but there are other alternatives that need to be analysed. What about if they started up the Gibralmedina project?

Ruidos y convivencia en Sotogrande Noise and coexistence in Sotogrande

Disfrutamos de uno de los entornos y enclaves más notables, seguros, tranquilos y reconocidos, a nivel de resort residencial de lujo, de todo el sur de Europa. Un oasis con muchos valores y atractivos que hacen que esté posicionado como uno de los destinos de referencia a nivel continental pero también, su manejo y gestión de temporadas claves es un aspecto muy destacado a tener en cuenta y cuidar en momentos importantes.

No son pocos los vecinos que, durante estas semanas tan efervescentes del mes de agosto, con la gran concentración de actividades, eventos y citas para el ocio en el interior de la urbanización, de una manera muy especial, han manifestado sus descontento y desconformidad en cuando al volumen de ruidos, molestias y, en definitiva, buen talante de convivencia en un lugar que presume de todo lo contrario.

A menudo se suele achacar todos estos síntomas de “mala praxis nocturna” a la “juventud” de una manera absolutista y unilateral, pero la realidad es que no siempre es así y público lo hay de todos lo gustos y edades. Es más que obvio que la urbanización, especialmente en los meses de verano, también debe contar con establecimientos y recintos dedicado al ocio nocturno y a la diversión, también forma parte de la personalidad de este lugar y es necesario igual que cualquier otro sector económico y negocio en la zona.

Lo que también es evidente que de una manera muy especial debe cuidarse mejor que nunca todos estos cánones y limitaciones para hacer de Sotogrande ese lugar especial, en todos los sentidos, también en éste. No todo vale, no todos los ‘botellódromos’ valen y no todos los espacios, quizás, estén acondicionados para ello (incidentes al margen, que ocurren aquí igual que en cualquier otro lugar del mundo).

Lo que sí es cierto es que estamos disfrutando de un gran verano y por nuestra parte, desde El Periódico de Sotogrande, todavía estamos apostando más fuerte por crear y generar aún más contenido y atención con todo el calendario de eventos y programa de actividades por el 25 Aniversario. Hace sólo unos días celebramos la Copa 25 Aniversario en el Torneo Internacional de Polo, así como el Abierto de Golf El Periódico de Sotogrande, la Cena de Gala, acciones solidarias, los I Premios Sotogrande y otras muchas propuestas que aún se reservan para el tramo final del calendario. Entre todos, hagamos un Sotogrande más grande y más atractivo, que no tengamos que oír a nadie desdibujar esa imagen idílica que promovemos. Mientras tanto, aprovechen este fantástico final de verano, aún nos queda la Copa de Oro de Polo y en cuando estemos más atentos a esa ‘Vuelta al cole’, ya estaremos otra vez sacando del armario nuestro mejor ‘outift’ de golf para disfrutar del EDAM 2023, del DP Wolrd Tour, en el mítico Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. ¿Quién puede dar más? We enjoy one of the most amazing, safe, quiet and recognised environments and enclaves, at the luxury residential resort level, in all of southern Europe. An oasis with many assets and attractions which position as one of the top destinations on a continental level, but also, its handling and management of key seasons is worth highlighting and taking care of at important moments.

There are quite a few residents who, during these very lively weeks of the month of August, with a wide concentration of activities, events and leisure options in the interior of the urban development, have made a point of expressing their unhappiness and discontent in terms of the volume of noise, inconvenience and, ultimately, good spirit of coexistence in a place that boasts the opposite.

All these symptoms of “nocturnal malpractice” are often attributed to the “youth” in an absolutist, unilateral way, but the fact of the matter is that this is not always the case and there are people of all tastes and ages. It is more than obvious that the urban development, especially in the summer months, also needs establishments and venues dedicated to nightlife and entertainment, this is also part of the personality of this location and it is necessary just like any other economic sector and business in the zone.

What is also evident is that, all these standards and limitations need to be taken care of better than ever before to make Sotogrande that special place, in every way, including in this way. Not everything is acceptable, not all the ‘botellódromos’ (binge drinking venues) are acceptable and maybe not all spaces are prepared for it (incidents on the sidelines, which occur here just like anywhere else in the world). What is for sure is that we are enjoying a great summer and as far as we’re concerned here at El Periódico de Sotogrande, we are still making a firmer commitment to create and generate even more content and attention with the entire calendar of events and activities’ programme for the 25th anniversary. Just a few days ago we held the 25th Anniversary Cup at the International Polo Tournament, as well as the El Periódico de Sotogrande Golf Open, the Gala Dinner, solidarity actions, the 1st Sotogrande Awards and many other proposals that are still reserved for the final stretch of the calendar.

El Consistorio insta a la Junta que asuma sus competencias y reabra la bocana del río Guadiaro

Autoridades municipales se desplazaron hasta a la bocana del Guadiaro, cerrada desde hace dos semanas. Desde el Ayuntamiento de San Roque se instó a la Junta de Andalucía a que trasladase la arena que impide que desemboque el río en el mar y, sobre todo, a que busque una solución definitiva al problema, que se repite cada año, ya que se trata de una competencia de la Administración Autonómica. Los tenientes de alcalde delegados de Medio Ambiente e Infraestructuras y Obras, Juan Serván y Belén Jiménez, han realizado esta visita junto a un técnico municipal. Explicó Serván que cada verano se cierra la bocana “cuando sopla el viento de levante durante varios días. Y así cerrada lleva dos semanas, durante las cuales no hemos tenido ninguna noticia de la Junta de Andalucía, como también pasó en años anteriores”.

“Al final -dijo Serván- el Ayuntamiento de San Roque tendrá que ocuparse de esto, y cada verano tenemos que abrir la bocana varias veces. Al final, el

coste de esta actuación se paga con recursos del Ayuntamiento, con los impuestos de los ciudadanos de San Roque, y no estamos dispuestos a que esto siga así”, concluyó.

Por su parte, Belén Jiménez indicó que “La Junta de Andalucía, gobernada por el PP con mayoría absoluta, sigue mi-

rando a otro lado y el Ayuntamiento al final tiene que afrontar unos costes que no deberíamos asumir, y que en estos dos últimos años ascienden a más de 21.000 euros. Al final -continuó la teniente de alcalde- son los impuestos que pagamos los ciudadanos del municipio, un dinero que no

debería gastar el Ayuntamiento sino la Junta de Andalucía, que tiene la competencia para abrir la bocana y, sobre todo, para hacer no una actuación puntual, sino encontrar una solución definitiva”.

Por ello, Belén Jiménez instó a la Consejería de Medio Ambiente “a que asuma su res-

ponsabilidad”, si bien recordó que el Gobierno autonómico “no actúa en el municipio, como ocurre en otras materias de su competencia, como la educativa”. La edil considera que, para reabrir la bocana y evitar la muerte de peces “una vez más tendremos que tirar de los recursos del Ayuntamiento de San Roque para hacer actuaciones que no son de nuestra competencia”, concluyó. Hay que recordar que en los últimos años la única actuación en la desembocadura del río Guadiaro que no ha llevado a cabo el Ayuntamiento de San Roque fue la apertura de la misma en mayo de 2022 por parte de la Demarcación de Costas, dependiente del Ministerio de Transición Ecológica, una arena que a continuación se trasladó a las playas de Sotogrande y Torreguadiaro. Desde agosto de 2019, el Consistorio ha tenido que encargarse de reabrir la bocana al menos diez veces, dándose casos como el de 2021, cuando se actuó cuatro veces el mismo verano.

The Town Hall is urging the Andalusian Regional Government to assume its duties and reopen the Guadiaro river mouth

Municipal authorities went to the mouth of the Guadiaro, which has been closed for two weeks. The San Roque Town Council urged the Andalusian Regional Government to move the sand that prevents the river from flowing into the sea and, above all, to seek a permanent solution to the problem, which is repeated every year, since it is a competence of the Autonomous Community Administration.

The deputy mayors for the Environment and Infrastructures and Works, Juan Serván and Belén Jiménez, made this visit together with a municipal technician. Serván explained that every summer the mouth is closed “when the easterly wind blows for several days. And so it has been closed for two weeks during which time we have not had any news from the Andalusian Regional Government, as also happened in previous years”. “In the end,” said Serván, “the San RoqueTownCouncilwillhavetotake care of this, and every summer we have to open the mouth several times. At the end of the day, the cost ofthisactionispaidoutofresources from the Town Council, using the taxes of the citizens of San Roque, and we are not willing for this to go on like this”, he concluded.

In turn, Belén Jiménez indicated that “The Andalusian Regional Government, governed by the PP with an absolute majority, continues to look the other way and the Town Council ultimately has to bear costs that we should not be assuming and which over the last two years have risen to more than 21,000 euros. In the end - continued the deputy mayor - they are taxes paid by the citizens of the municipality, money that should not be spent by the Town Council but by the Andalusian Regional Government, which has the power to open the mouth and, above all, to carry out not just a one-off action, but to find a definitive solution”.

This is why Belén Jiménez urged the Regional Ministry of the Environment “to assume its responsibility”, although she recalled that the Autonomous Community government “does not act in the municipality, as occurs in other matters within its competence, such as education”. The councillor considers that, to reopen the mouth and avoid the death of fish “once again we will have to use the resources of the San Roque Town Council to carry out actions that are not within our competence,” she concluded.

It should be recalled that in recent years the only action at the mouth of the Guadiaro river that the San Roque Town Council has not carried out was its opening in May 2022 by the Department of Coastal Demarcation, which reports to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, sand which was later moved to the beaches of Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro. Since August 2019, the

Town Hall has had to assume responsibility for reopening the entrance at least ten times, with ca-

ses such as that of 2021 when it was activated four times in the same summer.

Villa White, sober elegance of ARK Architects in Sotogrande

An iconic project, one of the greatest designs of ARK Architects and one of the most privileged zones of Sotogrande Alto. Undoubtedly, all the ingredients to make Villa White one of the most important residential villa projects of recent years in the resort and in the architecture of the area. All always looking out the sea and with the exact measure of light, space, environment, and nature that surrounds this impressive masterpiece by ARK.

The great plinth formed by the semi-buried basement creates the platform on which the top and bottom floors are based, raising them above the lush tops of the surrounding trees. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, ha reclamado a la Consejería de Fomento de la Junta de Andalucía que lleve a cabo las obras necesarias para que los autobuses puedan volver a atravesar el Puente de Hierro, que comunica Guadiaro con San Enrique. El primer edil ha recordado que hace cinco años que no se realizan trabajos de mantenimiento en dicho puente, y que su corte, hace ya un año, no sólo perjudica a usuarios de autobuses interurbanos, sino también al alumnado de la zona.

Para Ruiz Boix, este mes de agosto, cuando se está elaborando el presupuesto de la Junta de Andalucía para el año 2024, es el momento de reclamar a la Consejería de Fomento “una especial atención” para el municipio de San Roque, por el que pasan varias carreteras de titularidad autonómica. En cualquier caso, considera que “la principal carencia” es una inversión de conservación del Puente de Hierro.

Recordó que la falta de mantenimiento de dicho puente ha llevado a unos desperfectos que provocan que desde hace un año no pueda ser cruzado por “los autobuses que comunican Estepona con La Línea y que atraviesan Guadiaro, así como por los autobuses escolares que recogen a niños de Torreguadiaro y San Enrique para ir al instituto”.

Tras apuntar que la belleza de ese puente ha llevado a que en él se hayan rodado películas y series, recalcó que resulta “vital para la comunicación” entre las barriadas del

para que haya mayor comunicación entre los vecinos de Guadiaro y San Enrique, “la Junta de Andalucía nos castiga, nos margina y nos discrimina con esa inversión que no eje-

cuta en un puente que lleva un año bloqueado”.

En su opinión, cuando se inicie el curso escolar dentro de un mes “otra vez el alumnado de San Enrique y Torreguadiaro van a padecer la falta de inversión y planificación del Gobierno de Juanma Moreno”.

Esta actitud contrasta, según el alcalde, con la del Ayuntamiento, que invierte cada año alrededor de medio millón de euros en mejorar los viales del municipio. Mientras tanto, dijo, no se realiza ninguna inversión en “la calle Carretera, que es la calle principal que atraviesa comercios, restaurantes y bares de Guadiaro, y que es competencia de la Junta de Andalucía”.

Criticó que “la única actuación” de la Junta en todo el año” ha sido la de “obstaculizar la cabalgata de la Feria de Guadiaro, porque el mantenimiento brilla por su ausencia, y es pésimo el estado del firme de esa carretera. Le pedimos a la Junta que cumpla con su obligación por seguridad de los peatones y ocupantes de los vehículos”. Concluyó Ruiz Boix pidiendo “la ayuda de los componentes del PP de San Roque. Que se vea que quieren a San Roque Más y Mejor mediando para que haya inversiones de la Junta que permitan mejorar la calidad de vida de los sanroqueños y las sanroqueñas”.

Son “greenkeepers” profesionales, trabajan con máquinas de la mayor calidad, utilizan fertilizantes de primer nivel y realizan un control exhaustivo con el objetivo de conseguir un césped de la máxima calidad.

El Consistorio reclama a la Junta que arregle el Puente de Hierro tras un año sin poder pasar autobuses

The mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, has called upon the Regional Ministry of Public Works of the Andalusian Government to carry out the works required so that the buses can cross the Puente de Hierro (Iron Bridge) again, which connects Guadiaro with San Enrique. The mayor recalled that no maintenance work has been carried out on the bridge for five years, and that its blocked access a year ago not only harms users of intercity buses, but also the students in the area.

After pointing out that the beauty of this bridge has led to films and series being shot on it, he stressed that it is “vital for communication” between the neighbourhoods of Valle del Guadiaro. Ruiz Boix stressed that whilst San Roque City Council is going to invest more than 3 million euros in a pedestrian walkway precisely so that there is greater communication between the residents of Guadiaro and San Enrique, “the Andalusian Government punishes and marginalises us, discriminating against us with that investment which it has not put into effect on a bridge that has been blocked for a year”.

In his opinion, when the school year begins in a month, “once again the students of San Enrique and Torreguadiaro will suffer from the lack of investment and planning by the Government of Juanma Moreno.”

This attitude contrasts, according to the mayor, with that of the City Council, which invests around half a million euros each year in improving the roads of the municipality. In the meantime, he said, no investment has been made in “Calle Carretera, which is the main street which passes by shops, restaurants and bars in Guadiaro, and which

is the responsibility of the Andalusian Government.”

He criticised that “the only action” by the Regional Government throughout the year “has been to” hinder the procession

at Guadiaro Fair, because maintenance is conspicuous by its absence and the state of the road surface is terrible. We would ask the Regional Government to comply with its obligation for the

safety of pedestrians and vehicle occupants.”

Ruiz Boix concluded by asking for “help from the PP members of San Roque. It is quite clear that to make San Roque More and

El precio de Frankenstein Bis

El anterior secretario general del PSOE, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, acuñó en 2016 la expresión “gobierno Frankenstein”, para señalar la imposibilidad de que los socialistas gobernaran España aliados con la ultraizquierda y con los nacionalistas enemigos de España. Se equivocaba, y el monstruo cobró vida. En efecto, Pedro Sánchez presidió un gobierno Frankenstein, y es posible que en 2023 lo vuelva a hacer, si paga el precio que exigen los independentistas.

Sánchez logró su apoyo, en particular del grupo de Junts per Catalunya, liderado por el prófugo Carles Puigdemont, para constituir la Mesa del Congreso, y designar presidenta a Francina Armengol. Si los socialistas logran repetir este éxito en la sesión de investidura, Pedro Sánchez renovará en el cargo y continuará residiendo en el Palacio de la Moncloa. El precio de Frankenstein Bis, sin embargo, incluye dos apartados que chocan contra la Constitución Española: el referéndum de independencia para Cataluña y la amnistía para los encausados por el referéndum ilegal del año 2017. Hay que recordar que

el año próximo hay elecciones en esa comunidad autónoma, que el nacionalismo está dividido, que ha perdido apoyos electorales, con la excepción de Bildu, y que no existe tal cosa como la pacificación catalana que pregona la izquierda. Los independentistas no harán presidente nuevamente a Sánchez sin arrancarle nuevas cesiones que puedan presentar ante sus votantes como conquistas en el camino hacia la propia soberanía. Por su parte, Sánchez ha demostrado que es muy difícil anticipar con precisión cuáles son sus límites a la hora de negociar cualquier cosa con tal de mantenerse en el poder. Puede intentar alguna componenda que salve la cara del PSOE, y que los nacionalistas terminen aceptando, con la idea de que quizá les perjudique el forzar unas nuevas elecciones.

El PP, entre tanto, lame sus heridas después de su amarga victoria, no termina de aclarar su relación con Vox, y espera neutralizar parcialmente la política de Frankenstein Bis desde su mayoría absoluta en el Senado.

Pesar por el fallecimiento del empresario Antonio Barberán

Pesar por el fallecimiento del reconocido empresario y uno de los vecinos más ilustres del municipio sanroqueño, Antonio Barberán Cárdenas, a los 74 años de edad, el pasado 10 de agosto. Sin lugar a dudas, una de las personas más activas y reconocidas en la comunidad por sus grandes aportaciones tanto el ámbito profesional, como en su compromiso con otras iniciativas sociales y altruistas.

Destacar, al margen de su gran aportación profesional, su gran labor en enti-

dades como el CD San Roque o la Asociación Artística Familiar. También colaboró con numerosos colectivos sociales, a lo que hay que sumar de su estrecha vinculación a la Romería de San Roque, muy ligada a la familia Barberán. Criado en la zona del Pinar del Rey, hace ya más de 45 años Antonio Barberán emprendió varios negocios con raíz familiar, algo que afianzó en la zona al Grupo Barberán, con un amplio arco de actuación en numerosos sectores como la industria, la construcción o

residuos, llegando a contar con más de 600 empleados en su compañía. Esta enorme labor le llevó a numerosos reconocimientos a lo largo de su vida profesional por diferentes entidades de toda la Comarca, llegando a ser nombrado Hijo Predilecto de San Roque. Un hombre entrañable, enormemente comprometido y familiar; estuvo caso con Antonia Ibáñez con quién tuvo tres hijos: Juan Antonio, Samuel y Javier. Destacar también la gran vinculación con la familia de

su hermano Pepe, con quién inició la aventura laboral y que tras su fallecimiento (hace 26 años), veló por todas las atenciones que precisaran. En la actualidad, el Grupo Empresarial está dirigido por sus hijos y sobrinos, y lo componen las empresas Laribar Ind, Sanea2, Avanza360 ó Solia Energía Renovables, entre otras. Transmitir en nombre de la comunidad y especialmente de El Periódico de Sotogrande, el profundo pesar por esta pérdida a todos sus familiares y amigos.

Condolences on the death of businessman Antonio Barberán

We are saddened by the death of the renowned businessman and one of the most illustrious residents of the municipality of San Roque, Antonio Barberán Cárdenas, at the age of 74, on 10 August. Undoubtedly, one of the most active and recognized people in the community for his great contributions both professionally and in his commitment to other social and altruistic initiatives.

In addition to his great professional contribution, we should highlight his great work in organisations such as the CD San Roque and the Asociación Artística Familiar. He also collaborated with numerous social groups, to which must be added his close ties to the San Roque Pilgrimage, closely linked to the Barberán family.

Raised in the Pinar del Rey area, more than 45 years ago

Antonio Barberán started several businesses with family roots, something that consolidated the Barberán Group in the area, with a wide range of activities in numerous sectors such as industry, construction or waste, with more than 600 employees in his company. This enormous work led him to numerous recognitions throughout his professional life by different entities from all over the

region, and he was even named Favourite Son of San Roque. An endearing man, enormously committed and a family man, he was married to Antonia Ibáñez with whom he had three sons: Juan Antonio, Samuel and Javier. It is also worth mentioning the close relationship with the family of his brother Pepe, with whom he started the business venture and who, after his death (26 years ago), took care

of all their needs. Today, the Business Group is run by his children and nephews, and is made up of the companies Laribar Ind, Sanea2, Avanza360 and Solia Energía Renovables, among others. On behalf of the community and especially of El Periódico de Sotogrande, we would like to convey our deepest sympathy for this loss to all his family and friends.

Un duelo de ‘oro’ entre dos de los equipos más competitivos del planel, por un lado Dubai, con los Hermanos Castagnola que buscan revalidar el cetro de oro en Sotogrande; mientras que la magnífica dupla entre Mac Dnough y Facundo Pieres buscan un triunfo dorado.

Dubai y MB Polo, gran batalla por la Copa de Oro de Alto

Dubai y MB Polo se aseguraron un lugar en la final de la Copa de Oro Electrolit de Alto Hándicap tras imponerse, respectivamente, a Kazak y San Luis en las semifinales que se disputaron en la cancha de Los Pinos. De esta forma, los mencionados equipos buscarán quedarse con el ansiado trofeo el sábado 26 de agosto también en Los Pinos.

Tras las semifinales, este miércoles, los conjuntos Dubai y MB Polo pasan a la final de la Copa de Oro Electrolit de Alto Hándicap de polo.

Por su parte, y también co-

rrespondiente al 52° Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía, pero en el Mediano Hándicap, Ayala se convirtió en el primer finalista de la categoría luego de ser el ganador de la Zona 2. Por la Zona 1, y tras las victorias de Electric Polo y de Brunei, este jueves está previsto que se defina el otro finalista a través de una tanda por penales de la que participarán estos dos equipos y San Leonardo.

Las finales de la Copa de Oro Electrolit están programadas para llevarse a cabo entre el viernes 25 y el sábado 26 de agosto.

Dubai and MB Polo secured a place in the final of the Electrolit High Goal Gold Cup after beating, respectively, Kazak and San Luis in the semi-finals played at Los Pinos. Thus, the aforementioned teams will try to win the coveted trophy on Saturday 26th August also at Los Pinos.

After the semi-finals, this Wednesday, the Dubai and MB Polo teams will go through to the final of the

Electrolit Gold Cup of High Goal Polo.

Meanwhile, and also corresponding to the 52nd Andalucía International Polo Tournament, but in the Medium Handicap, Ayala became the first finalist of the category after being the winner of Zone 2.

Las instalaciones de Ayala Los Pinos fueron escenario de una apasionante jornada de polo con la disputa de la final de la Copa de Plata Terralpa, a la que asistieron cerca de 5.000 personas, según los organizadores. La 52 edición del Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía vivió uno de sus momentos culminantes con el partido de Alto Hándicap que enfrentó a Park Place y San Luis. Un choque espectacular y que se resolvió en el chukker suplementario gracias a un gol de Hilario Ulloa que ponía el 13-12 definitivo en el marcador. Los seis chukkers del choque no fueron suficientes para determinar el ganador ya que al término de los 42 minutos el electrónico reflejó máxima igualdad. (12-12).

The Ayala Los Pinos facilities were the setting for an exciting day’s polo with the final of the Terralpa Silver Cup, which was attended by about 5,000 people, according to the organisers.

The 52nd edition of the Andalucía International Polo Tournament experienced one of its highlights with the High Handicap match between Park Place and San Luis. A spectacular clash that was decided in the extra Chukker thanks to a goal by Hilario Ulloa that put the final score at 13-12. The six chukkers of the clash were not enough to determine the winner, since at the end of 42 minutes the scoreboard showed things were all square still. (12-12). Park Place, which is making its debut in Sotogrande, never tires of celebrating and after its successes in England and the United States, it’s now set on the Electrolit Gold Cup that starts on Monday.

The medium and low handicap Copa de Plata Terralpa champions are also known. In the first, the win went to Almasanta which beat the Amanara team 13-9. Whilst Águilas beat Esso 8-7.

Enhorabuena por llegar a la Gran Final de la Copa de Oro, tras esta semifinal tan reñida contra San Luis.

Así fue, estoy muy feliz, todo el equipo de haber ganado el partido. Encaramos la semifinal con mucho respeto, midiendo cada paso; San Luis venía jugando muy bien durante toda la temporada, aunque es cierto que hemos podido ganarles bien, algo que no es nada sencillo, son un equipazo. Fue un partido duro, nos complicaron mucho pero el equipo va en crecimiento, cada vez estamos mejor, aunque podemos limar algunos aspectos todavía. Ahora toca pensar en la final, analizar al rival y disfrutar de ese enorme partido. Llegar a la Final de la Copa de Oro era el objetivo desde el principio.

Y lo consigues además en esta competitiva edición, con la subida de 22 goles en el Alto HCP. Muy reñido, muy competido. Los siete equipos son muy buenos, sólo hace falta ver el plantel de organizaciones y jugadores de primer nivel, todos muy parejos. Dos Lunas, que finalmente no pudo estar en rondas decisivas, por poner un ejemplo, siempre estuvo muy cerca o perdió por un gol; todos los encuentros son muy competitivos y eso hizo que todos los equipos tuvieran la posibilidad de ganar en algún momento.

Al final estáis en el partido más importante del año…

Estamos dónde queríamos a estar a principio de la temporada y con la gran posibilidad

de ganar la Copa de Oro, el gran objetivo del verano. Será una final muy dura, ahora trabajar en estas horas previas para analizar y estudiar al rival, Dubai no pondrá para nada las cosas sencillas. Vencer a Barto y Jeta [Castag-

nola], que además son nuestros compañeros en Argentina; será todo un reto, va a ser una final muy emocionante. De inicio a fin, esperemos ser nosotros los que levantemos la copa cuando suene la última campana del

partido.

Un lujo volver a tener por Sotogrande esta temporada, ¿cuántos años hacía que no venías?

La última vez que vine por Sotogrande fue en el año 2018. Estoy muy feliz de estar aquí, de competir con esta gran organización como es MB que me abrió las puertas de su casa y me hacen sentir muy cómodo y contento. Es fantástico estar aquí, disfrutar del lugar y de una temporada tan apasionante.

Mucha suerte para la final y para la temporada en Argentina.

Congratulations on reaching the Grand Final of the Gold Cup, after this hard-fought semi-final against San Luis. That’s how it was, I’m very happy, the whole team, to have won the match. We approached the semi-final with a lot of respect, measuring every step; San Luis had been playing very well all season, although it is true that we were able to beat them well, which is not easy they are a great team. It was a tough game, they made it very difficult for us, but the team is growing, we are getting better and better, although we can still improve on some aspects. Now we have to think about the final, analyse our opponents and enjoy this huge game. Reaching the Gold Cup Final was the objective from the start.

Hasta el final vibrante y apretado, ya que tuvo que resolverse la Copa en el suplementario, muy complicado ganar a San Luis. Gracias. El partido fue muy difícil hoy. Llevábamos todo el partido empatados, nos sacaron diferencia de tres o cuatro goles en el cuarto chukker y después pudimos empatar y meter el último gol en suplementario. Fue un partido muy difícil, pero una alegría muy grande ahora.

Robert, ¿cómo se está dando la temporada? Evidentemente bien aquí en Sotogrande. Campeón en la Copa de Bronce, ahora pe-

leando para entrar en la Copa de Oro. Muy bien, ¿no?

Sí, la de Bronce la pudimos ganar, por suerte. En la de Plata perdimos en las semis por muy poco y creo que ahora tenemos toda la chance para la de Oro. Ahora tenemos que ir a penales para pasar a las semis porque en la zona nuestra hay tres equipos empatados, con Dubai y Marqués de Riscal. Así que, mañana vamos a penales y a ver quién pasa en las semis [perdieron y no clasificaron].

So, tomorrow we go to penalties and we’ll see who goes through to the semis [they lost and didn’t qualify].

Una jornada para el recuerdo, única y muy especial para toda la familia, amigos y colaboradores de Grupo HCP Sotogrande durante este verano de 2023 y de manera particular, en esta temporada en el 52º Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía.

Se celebró la Copa 25 Aniversario El Periódico de Sotogrande, un evento muy importante, en uno de los duelos más competitivos del Alto Hándicap en Sotogrande, con numeroso público en las grandas y un particular elenco de invita-

dos en el Palco VIP que disfruta este verano El Periódico de Sotogrande, en la cancha III de Los Pinos.

Para el histórico quedará el triunfo de Sainte Mesme sobre San Luis, en un bonito duelo que se igualó sobre la campana del último chukker y que se decidió por 12 a 11 a favor del conjunto de Robert Strom, en el tiempo suplementario.

Una vez finalizado el encuentro, con la presencia de José Luis García Iglesias [presidente y editor de El Periódico de Sotogrande] se llevó

a cabo el protocolo de entrega de premios con regalos y obsequios para los referees, equipo finalista y ganador.

A day to remember, unique and very special for all the family, friends and collaborators of the HCP Sotogrande Group during this summer of 2023 and in particular, this season at the 52nd International Polo Tournament Andalucía. The La Milagrosa Foundation Residence, in San Enrique, hosted its II Solidarity Market to raise funds for the purchase of therapeutic and rehabilitation material. Organised by the management of the residence and the aforementioned foundation, the items on sale are largely from the objects made by an intergenerational workshop involving users and children who spend the summer in Sotogrande.

El Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, espectacular torneo plenamente asentado en el calendario del DP World Tour, cambia de escenario y llega al Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. El histórico club, indisolublemente unido al desarrollo del golf, alberga la novena edición de un torneo que tendrá lugar del 19 al 22 de octubre y que el año pasado ganó el español Adrián Otaegui.

En los exigentes greenes del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande se ha graduado la plana mayor del golf continental, ya que la joya de Sotogrande alberga la prestigiosa Copa de Sotogrande en cuyo palmarés aparecen jugadores de la talla de Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington o Francesco Molinari. El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, a punto de alcanzar su sexagésimo aniversario, llega al Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters en un estado impecable gracias a la labor del equipo liderado por su greenkeeper jefe Patrick Allende y a los trabajos llevados a cabo durante la última década.

“Entre los años 2015 y 2017, el

campo de 18 hoyos y el resto de las instalaciones de juego y prácticas fueron objeto de una completa restauración con el asesoramiento del arquitecto americano Roger Rulewich, que durante años trabajó con Robert Trent Jones, y su colega David Fleury. Pettersen confirma el equipo europeo que estará en la Solheim Cup de Finca Cortesín

La capitana europea Suzann Pettersen anunció sus cuatro elecciones para completar la alineación del equipo europeo que disputará la Solheim Cup 2023, que finalmente fueron Madelene Sagström, Gemma Dryburgh, Emily Kristine Pedersen y

Caroline Hedwall.

Madelene Sagström disputará su tercera Solheim Cup tras debutar en 2017 y formar parte del equipo ganador la pasada edición en Toledo (Ohio, EE.UU), pero esta edición será una experiencia nueva para ella, ya que será el primer torneo que juegue en suelo europeo.

La escocesa Gemma Dryburgh será la tercera “rookie” del equipo junto a otras dos novatas clasificadas como Maja Stark y Linn Grant. Dryburgh consiguió su primer título en el LPGA Tour el pasado mes de noviembre al ganar el Toto Japan Classic y hace tan sólo unas semanas registró su mejor resultado en un major con un octavo puesto en el Amundi Evian Championship.

La danesa Emily Kristine Pedersen también jugará su tercera Solheim Cup, después de que debutara en 2017 y embocara el putt que selló la victoria en tierras estadounidenses en 2021.

Por su parte, Caroline Hedwall tendrá su quinta aparición en el certamen bienal y su primera desde 2019 tras ser elegida por Pettersen. La estrella sueca se apuntó su séptimo título del LET al adjudicarse el Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España que cerraba la temporada pasada y está deseando volver a jugar en España.

A las cuatro elegidas por la capitana europea se unirán la francesa Celine Boutier y la sueca Maja Stark, clasificadas gracias a los puntos del LET Solheim Cup, además de las inglesas Charley Hull y Georgia Hall, la irlandesa Leona Maguire, las suecas Linn Grant y Anna Nordqvist y la española Carlota Ciganda, quienes accedieron al equipo a través de sus puestos en el Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

The European captain, Suzann Petersen, announced her four choices for completing the line-up of the European team competing in the Solheim Cup 2023, with Madelene Sagström, Gemma Dryburgh, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Caroline Hedwall as her final selection.

Madelene Sagström will be competing in her third Solheim Cup , having made her début in 2017 as a member of the winning team in the last tournament held in Toledo (Ohio, USA), but this event will be a new experience for her in that this is the first time the competition will be played on European soil.

Tom Doak diseñará el proyecto de golf del Grupo La Zagaleta en Castellar

• El proyecto contará con un campo de 18 ó 36 hoyos. También se dio a conocer que el Grupo La Zagaleta estudia la posibilidad de crear la marca Majarambuz para todo su desarrollo relativo al golf.

La Zagaleta informó de la incorporación del al prestigioso arquitecto de campos de golf Tom Doak para diseñar su proyecto de golf para la urbanización conocida históricamente como Valderrama II, en la zona de Sotogrande.

El proyecto, que está previsto que cuente con 18 o 36 hoyos, ya ha obtenido todos los permisos para iniciar su construc-

ción en cuanto estén listos los diseños de Tom Doak.

Será el primer diseño de Tom Doak en España, el segundo en Europa continental, y contará con grandes zonas verdes para sus campos de golf. Valderrama 07, empresa filial del Grupo Zagaleta, está barajando la marca Majarambuz para todo su desarrollo relativo al golf. Se ha comprome-

tido a que este proyecto sea considerado uno de los clubes de golf más exclusivos de Europa continental.

La afiliación será estrictamente por invitación, y convertirse en miembro será notoriamente exclusivo. El club tendrá un número limitado de socios, unos 300, y es probable que haya una lista de espera de varios años.

La Zagaleta announced the bringing on board of the prestigious golf course architect Tom Doak to design its golf project for the urban estate historically known as Valderrama II in the Sotogrande area. It will be Tom Doak’s first design in Spain, the second in mainland Europe, and it will have large green areas for its golf courses.

Valderrama 07, a subsidiary of the Zagaleta Group, is considering the Majarambuz brand for all its golf-related development. He has committed to ensuring that this project will be regarded as one of the most exclusive golf clubs in continental Europe.

Membership will be strictly by invitation, and becoming a member will be conspicuously exclusive. The club will have a limited number of members, about 300, and there will likely be a several year waiting list.

La emoción y la competición en la XXIV Copa Sotogrande, que abarca el Campeonato de Andalucía de Cruceros ORC, IX Memorial Antonio Muñoz Cabrero, llegaron a un abrupto final debido a la falta de viento en las aguas de Sotogrande. El evento, que tuvo lugar a lo largo de tres días, presentó varios desafíos para los competidores y organizadores por igual. El primer día de regatas se centró en los catamaranes, con diez intrépidas embarcaciones que participaron en tres mangas. Los vientos moderados de 10-12 nudos brindaron una buena jornada de competición, culminando en una entrega de trofeos que tuvo lugar en la tarde ayer donde se reconoció el talento de los navegantes campeones, Antonio Oriol y Laura Oriol. El segundo clasificado fue para Jaime Brujó como patrón y Jacobo Brujó como tripulante. The absence of wind marks the XXIV Sotogrande Cup

The excitement and competition at the XXIV Sotogrande Cup, which includes the Andalusian Championship of ORC Cruises, IX Memorial Antonio Muñoz Cabrero, came to an abrupt end due to the lack of wind in the Sotogrande waters. The event, which took place over the course of three days, laid down several challenges for competitors and organisers alike.

The first day of racing focused on catamarans, with ten intrepid boats taking part in three heats. Moderate winds of 10-12 knots provided a good day’s racing, culminating in a trophy ceremony that took place yesterday afternoon where the talents of champion sailors Antonio Oriol and Laura Oriol were recognised. Second place went to Jaime Brujó as skipper and Jacobo Brujó as crew member. And third place went to the catamaran skippered by Enrique Benjumea and with Enrique Benjumea Jr. as crew member. It is worth highlighting the El Periódico de Sotogrande 25th Anniversary Special Award which ended up going to Alexandra Jaureguizar for being the youngest crew member at only 7 years old.

The trophy delivery ceremony for the catamarans marked the official closing of the Sotogrande Cup, recognising the achievements of the sailors and celebrating the moments of glory on the water, with the presence of the new president of the Club, Ignacio de Colmenares, the councillor for Tourism of San Roque Town Council, Alfonso Valdivia and the deputy mayor for Works and Services, Belén Jiménez. Eli Ramos and Manuel Gil from El Periódico de Sotogrande attended for El Periódico de Sotogrande.

With the maximum number of registered players on the course, the players faced a competitive, complex New Course layout, whose presentation was first-rate, and a five-star course with all its

• El X Circuito de Golf Sotogrande cierra su calendario de pruebas clasificatorias el próximo 2 de septiembre, en uno de los mjejores recoridos de la zona, el espectacular Links de La Hacienda, elegido European Tour Destination.

La décima edición del Circuito de Golf Sotogrande prepara un cierre del calendario de pruebas clasificatorias con una de las citas más esperadas por los jugadores del circuito.

El próximo sábado, 2 de septiembre, el fantástico recorrido Links de La Hacienda Golf acoge la quinta y última prueba regular, la última oportunidad de mejorar tarjeta y subir en el ránking para optar a la Gran Final de 2023 en Valderrama.

Una prueba muy especial al tratarse de uno de los mejores recorridos de la zona, con increíbles vistas panorámicas

al Estrecho de Gibraltar y al norte de África, mientras juegas a sólo unos metros del Mar Mediterráneo.
