Despega una pronta temporada en Sotogrande

Desde hace varios años, especialmente desde la salida de la pandemia y con un considerable, a consecuencia de la misma, crecimiento de la población residente en la urbanización; el verano en sí mismo adelanta su llegada (en cuanto a público, notoriedad y agenda social), a inicios del mes de junio. También lo hace una manera casi paralela la llegada del turismo residencial y del visitante ocasional.

Pero este 2023, sin lugar a dudas, la celebración del LIV Golf Andalucía 2023 en el Real Club Valderrama ha dinamitado todos los planes, multiplicado esta demanda en la urbanización y reactivado el mercado y negocio local, en todos los sectores y apartados, con una premura aún mayor en intensidad y volumen para esta temporada.

Si ven las siguientes páginas, podrán hacer caso a los datos recabados por esta redacción durante los pasados días en los que al margen de toda la orgánica que maneja un evento de golf internacional de estas características (staff, jugadores, empleados, organización, etc.); el volumen de ocupación turística en la zona (tanto en establecimientos hoteleros como en ‘hosted’ de alquiler), alcanzaba unos guarismo cercanos al 100%. Unos datos que difícilmente se consiguen, en muchas ocasiones en pleno agosto e inmersos en el plano más clave de la temporada alta.

El golf, el turismo de alto nivel, la excelencia de las entidades e instituciones del resort permiten crecer a este ritmo los datos y los registros. No se debe parar, tampoco abusar de un ‘negocio imprudente y cortoplacistas’ (vulgarmente, “hacer el agosto”); pero sí buscar una correspondencia con todo ello. Mantengamos el nivel, ése es el secreto.

Early season gets underway in Sotogrande

For a few years, especially since emerging from the pandemic with a considerable, as a consequence of it, growth of the population residing in the resort; summer itself has started earlier (in terms of the public, awareness and social agenda), at the start of June. It also does so almost alongside the arrival of residential tourism and one-off visitors.

However, in 2023, undoubtedly, the celebration of LIV Golf Andalucía 2023 at Real Club Valderrama completely changed all plans, multiplying this demand in the resort and reviving the market and local business, in all sectors and sections, with a haste that was even more intense and with greater occupancy for this season.

If you view the following pages, you can see the figures collected by this editorial office over recent days which, aside from all the people involved in an international golf event of these characteristics (staff, players, employees, organisation, etc.); the volume of tourist occupancy in the zone (both in hotel establishments and in rental “hosted” properties, the level reached figures close to 100%. Figures that are difficult to obtain, often in the heart of August and immersed in the key part of the peak season.

Golf, high-end tourism, the excellence of the entities and institutions in the resort make it possible to increase figures and records at this pace. It must not stop, nor should be overuse “reckless and shortterm business” (commonly known as “cashing in”); but we should seek to correspond to it all. Let’s maintain the level; that is the secret.

El gran espectáculo del golf The great spectacle of golf

Tenía ciertas dudas de cuánto tiempo sería capaz de durar la ‘resaca’ por lo mucho y bueno vivido hace tan sólo unas horas. Habría que buscar en el diccionario palabras muy grandilocuentes para adjetivar lo ocurrido durante la pasada semana en el Real Club Valderrama, con la celebración del LIV Golf 2023 Andalucía, una vez visto, un evento magno en todos los sentidos. Mi más sincera enhorabuena a todas las entidades involucradas en su puesta a punto (organización, club, voluntarios, fuerzas de seguridad, etc.); ya que el resultado se escapa a un ‘cum laude’. Hace falta echar la vista atrás, casi a la década de los 90 para recordar eventos de golf con tanta presencia internacional, con tanta apuesta por hacer ‘algo grande’ y por supuesto, para disfrutar a pocos metros de un plantel de estrellas de semejante nivel, competiendo hasta el green del 1 de la última ronda por el título. Ver a los Dustin Jhonson, Cameron Smith, Mickelson, DeChambeau, Koepka o un imparable Gooch (aún me resuena los gritos de la fanaticada británica con esa especie de susurro “Gooooooooooch”); capaz de elevar el nivel del juego en un campo increíble y totalmente inspirado para ello. Concebido para grandes gestas como Real Club Valderrama.

En el apartado local, destacar la gran aparición de David Puig que recompuso la gris actuación de Chacarra (no tuvo su mejor torneo) o un Sergio García que pese al gran espectáculo y efervescencia que levanta su participación, no terminó de estar competitivo y alcanzar cotas más altas del ‘top ten’.

En líneas generales, bien vale poner en valor todo ese montaje, esa gran apuesta, la música (todo un acierto el concierto al cierre de la segunda jornada) y todos esos detalles que poco a poco habrán ido conquistando el paladar de los que en principio parecían algo más reacio a este nuevo modelo de competición. Enhorabuena a Valderrama y enhorabuena por esa apuesta siempre decidida por ir un paso por delante y en vanguardia. La alianza entre LIV, PGA y DP World (conocida hace pocos días), refrenda aún más esa gran iniciativa que posiciona una vez más a Sotogrande en el epicentro del mundo del golf.

Dejando a un lado del golf, encaramos días muy importantes en la urbanización con la llegada del verano, la celebración del 25 Aniversario de este periódico o en próximas fechas los 60 años de la empresa matriz, Sotogrande®. Estamos ante unas fechas apasionante.

Por cierto ya sé lo que dura la resaca emocional, el inicio de la campaña política esta semana para las Generales del 23-J.

Seeing Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Mickelson, DeChambeau, Koepka and an unstoppable Gooch (I can still here the shouts of the British fans with that kind of whisper “Gooooooooooch”); capable of raising the level of play on a completely incredible course and completely inspired to that end. Designed for great feats like Real Club Valderrama.

On a local level, it is worth highlighting the great appearance of David Puig, who made up for the grey performance of Chacarra (he did not have his best performance) and a Sergio García who, despite the great spectacle and buzz from his participation, did not end up being competitive and finishing in the highest ranks of the top ten.

Generally, speaking, it is worth highlighting the entire set-up, the great commitment, the music (the concert at the end of the second day was a real success) and all the details that gradually won over those who to begin with seemed a little more reticent about this new competition model. Congratulations to Valderrama and congratulations for the always decisive commitment to take a step forward and at the cutting-edge. The partnership between LIV, PGA and DP World (announced a few days ago), further endorses this great initiative which once again places Sotogrande at the epicentre of the golfing world.

Setting aside golf, we are facing very important days in the resort with the arrival of summer, the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of this newspaper and in a short while the 60th anniversary of the parent company, Sotogrande®. We are facing an exciting time.

Of course, I already know how long the emotional hangover will last, the start of the political campaign is this week for the general election on 23-J.

El golf dispara el volumen turístico de Sotogrande por encima del 98%

• Las cuotas de ocupación durante la semana del LIV Golf en el Real Club Valderrama sitúan los registros de ocupación en datos superiores al 98,6% e incluso al completo en algunos establecimientos durante el fin de semana.

Pasión por el golf, pasión por Sotogrande y la urbanización visible y notoria como nunca. La semana de auténtico espectáculo vivida en el resort con motivo de la celebración del LIV Golf Andalucía 2023 disparó los datos turísticos y la afluencia de público con unos niveles y registros muy superiores a los acostumbrados en los últimos eventos deportivos en la zona. En datos generales, la ocupación en los establecimientos hoteleros de la zona superó el 98,6% de las habitaciones disponible e incluso llegó a completar el aforo en varios puntos hoteleros durante el pico del fin de semana. Por los ‘carrilillos’ de Valderrama se pudieron ver a varias decenas de miles de aficionados que atraídos de diferentes puntos de la geografía española y de una manera muy

particular, toda la comunidad anglosajona y centroeuropea afincada en la Costa del Sol, se dejaron ver en la zona y generando economía y consumo en el negocio y empresa local del

Valle del Guadiaro.

Una situación que además se retroalimentó con la celebración, de manera paralela de la Feria de Guadiaro, lo que hizo aún más publicidad local y

llamó de una manera superlativa la atención de los visitantes que maridaron todo ello con una feria ‘typical spanish’. Puntos como SO/ Sotogrande, MiM Sotogrande y Hotel Enci-

nar de Sotogrande, algunos de los principales reclamos en la zona, lograron registros de este volumen durante una semana que seguro se recordará en la zona.

The occupancy levels during week of LIV Golf at Real Club Valderrama put the occupancy levels at figures of over 98.6% and even at full levels in some establishments over the weekend.

Passion for golf, passion for Sotogrande, and the resort visible and well-known like never before. The week of a great spectacle enjoyed at LIV Golf Andalucía 2023 shot up the tourist figures and crowd numbers with levels and records much higher than usual at the last sporting events in the area. Generally, occupancy at hotel establishments in the area was over 98.6% of available rooms and even reached full capacity in several hotels during the peak of the weekend.

Around the little fairways of Valderrama it was possible to see several tens of thousands of fans who, attracted from different parts of Spain and in a very particular way, the entire English-speaking and Central European community based in the Costa del Sol, were to be found in the area and generated wealth and consumed in local businesses and companies in Valle del Guadiaro. The situation was also helped by the simultaneous celebration of the Guadiaro Fair, which provided even more local publicity and really got the attention of the visitors who combined all of this with a typical Spanish fair. Places such as SO/ Sotogrande, MiM Sotogrande and Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande, some of the main attractions in the area, achieved records for occupancy levels that will certainly be remembered in the area.

Calores de campaña

La campaña de las elecciones generales transcurre con los calores propios del verano, pero también con el calor de la actividad frenética de los candidatos, que se agotan en mítines y entrevistas. E incluso en el sentido en que se utiliza la expresión “pasar calor” en mi Argentina natal, es decir, pasar vergüenza.

No se trata simplemente de la reacción de los ciudadanos ante la capacidad que tienen los políticos de engañarnos. Esto es conocido y antiguo. Saki comentó con ironía que ante unas elecciones el candidato siempre se dedica a recopilar “datos útiles y ficciones discretas”.

Se trata de algo más. En los últimos tiempos da la impresión de que la mentira ha consolidado sus posiciones en nuestro mundo político, empezando por la abdicación que hizo Pedro Sánchez de sus compromisos para llegar a la presidencia del Gobierno. Fue tal su descaro que ya se ha convertido en parte del humor popular hablar de “cambios de posición” cuando es obvio que hablamos de mentiras.

La situación no afecta solo a la izquierda, como hemos visto tras el giro de las últimas elecciones municipales y autonómicas, y el espectáculo, en ocasiones bochornoso, que brindaron los dos partidos de la derecha. El diario ABC resumió el panorama con este titular: “El PP ya ha perdido 15 días de campaña en sus enredos con Vox”.

El caso más reciente y deplorable ha sido el de Extremadura, donde finalmente el PP, tal como ha sucedido en otros lugares, y posiblemente suceda después del 23 de julio, ha terminado pactando con Vox después de haber jurado que nunca lo haría.

La candidata, y próxima presidenta, María Guardiola, declaró: “Mi palabra no es tan importante como el futuro de los extremeños”. Una afirmación inquietante, pero sin duda verdadera, porque el valor de su palabra es igual a cero. Se dirá que los pactos pueden ser mejores que la continuidad de las administraciones anteriores. No lo niego, pero se comprenderá también

la desazón de los votantes.

En todo caso, disfrutemos de estas vacaciones, y ya comentaremos el resultado de las elecciones, que son cálidas en más de un sentido.

El polo en Sotogrande se vive de padres a hijos

• Con motivo del 60º aniversario de Sotogrande® se prepara para este verano una edición muy especial del tradicional torneo de polo entre padres e hijos.

• El evento se celebra el 15 de julio en las canchas de Ayala Polo Club.

El polo en Sotogrande tiene nombre y apellidos propios, un lugar mágico, un lugar exclusivo que cumple su 60 aniversario y en el que este selecto deporte guarda un rincón muy especial en su historia. Con motivo del 60 aniversario de Sotogrande y sabiendo que el polo es un referente histórico, en el lugar, se va a realizar un partido entre padres e hijos. Un momento en el que se podrá disfrutar de un día divertido y en familia disfrutado de una de las grandes tradiciones del entorno.

Torneo de Golf 60 aniversario: si hablamos de Sotogrande, hablamos de golf, por ello se va a realizar un torneo de un día inspirado en los 60 años. Los golfistas de Sotogrande estarán invitados a formar parte de esta jornada de golf que tendrá lugar en La Reserva Club, el 5 de agosto.

Fiesta 60 aniversario: para celebrar estas seis décadas de Sotogrande se ha creado una fiesta temática de los 60´s donde se pedirá a los asistentes que vayan con atuendos de esa época. Una noche de entretenimiento en la que se destacarán los momentos más icónicos de estos años. El sitio elegido es The Beach La Reserva Club, el día 22 de julio a las 20:30.

Polo in Sotogrande is enjoyed from parents down to children

• To mark the 60th anniversary of Sotogrande®, a very special edition of the traditional polo tournament between parents and children is being prepared this summer.

• The event is taking place on 15 July at the pitches of Ayala Polo Club.

Polo in Sotogrande has a name and surname of its own, a magical place, an exclusive place that is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and in which this sport has a very special place in its history.

To mark the 60th anniversary of Sotogrande and knowing that polo is an historic benchmark, in the place, a match will be held between parents and children. A moment where it will be possible to have a fun day and with family, enjoying one of the great traditions of the area.

The venue for enjoying the event will be at Ayala Polo Club, pitch 1, on 15 July before

the start of the season. The start of the match will be at 16:00 and from 20:30 there will be an Argentine barbecue and live music.

SO/ Sotogrande SPA & Golf Resort will dazzle even more this summer thanks to the French chef Nicolas Isnard, who holds a Michelin Star. As a new addition, its most gastronomic menu, Cortijo Santa María 1962, will offer, from 16 July to 20 August, a menu designed by the chef which will involve five steps and it can be accompanied by an exclusive wine pairing.

Diners can enjoy multicultural cuisine defined by the expe-

riences of the chef on his travels, and whose common denominator, is quality, respect for the produce, and flavour. This proposal will be presented by the chef on 16, 17, and 18 July to the entire public at restaurant Cortijo Santa Maria 1962.

The menu begins with ravioli of oxtail with an emulsion of goat’s cheese and beefsteak tomato, it will continue with mussels in brine with sobrasada sausage and fresh mint,

and a ceviche of tuna steak, avocado in guacamole, sesame and kaffir lime. This proposal by the French chef will also give a special role to the confit pork cheek with carrot, kumquat and coriander, and to finish: roast figs with sangría and orange foam with saffron.

El placer nos ha ido dominando a lo largo de la historia, forma parte de nuestro cerebro más primitivo, casi de nuestros instintos y dentro del mundo animal exclusivo de los grandes simios. Por supuesto nosotros somos un gran simio, el simio humano.

El placer, hace que busquemos novedades, adrenalina, que nos guste socializar, los amigos, el chocolate, el sexo…, es el mismo mecanismo que activa las adicciones y lo buscamos. Cada cerebro posee una predisposición determinada, pero bien es cierto, que el circuito neuronal por el que conseguimos activar el núcleo accumbens de nuestro cerebro es el mismo. Amamos la fantástica hormona del placer, la dopamina “este neurotransmisor activa un mecanismo cerebral que se llama circuito de recompensa que hace que tendamos una y otra vez a repetir comportamientos y consumos en busca de esa sensación”

Talor Gooch (Rangegoats GC) se llevó la victoria del LIV Golf Andalucía con 12 bajo par para 67, tras una cerrada ronda con Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers GC) -que terminó 11 bajo par, y Brooks Koepka (Smash GC) -con 9 bajo par- en un emocionante domingo en el Real Club Valderrama. Con esta victoria Gooch se convierte en el primer jugador en ganar tres campeonatos de LIV Golf, tras obtener las victorias de Adelaide y Singapur a principios de año. Sobre este logro, Gooch dijo: “Es muy especial. El año pasado no obtuve ninguna victoria y este año me concentré mucho en obtener una victoria individual. En realidad no piensas mucho más allá de la primera [victoria] hasta que obtienes la primera... Álvaro Morata: “Valderrama es un campo histórico, reconozco que estaba nervioso”

¿Qué tal este ProAm? ¿Qué tal la experiencia hoy? ¿Habías estado alguna vez en Valderrama?

Es mi primer ProAm, mi primera vez en Valderrama, así que, como lo he dicho muchas veces: estoy como un niño en Disneyland, sobre todo por estar con Sergio con Eugenio… He disfrutado una barbaridad. Me ha preguntado Sergio que si me había gustado el campo y en realidad, ni me he fijado. Estaba tan pendiente de no liarla y de hacer las cosas bien, que disfrutado jugando con ellos. Espero volver pronto para disfrutar más y analizar los hoyos más despacio, pero desde luego ha sido una experiencia maravillosa. Estoy muy agradecido al LIV, a Sergio y Eugenio por la oportunidad que me han dado, que me ha hecho muy feliz.

Tanto Sergio como Víctor García, su padre, te han dado buenos consejos. ¿Con qué te quedas de lo que te han dicho?

Con todo. Cualquier cosa que me digan es importante y hay que cogerlo. Víctor es un fe-

nómeno y la madre de Sergio también me ha dado algún consejo. Estoy súper contento de cómo me tratan todos y es un placer estar aquí.

¿Aparte de los españoles, que jugadores te gustan?

Sigo a todos ellos, me gusta el golf en general. Por supuesto los españoles, yo soy español, pero también sigo a Brooks, Carlos Ortiz también me gusta mucho… soy muy aficionado al golf.

¿Cómo empezaste a jugar al golf? ¿Cómo te enganchaste al deporte?

Álvaro Morata: Bueno, yo jugaba de pequeñito con mi padre. Luego, cuando fui creciendo, lo empecé a seguir por la tele. Si había cualquier torneo, yo me quedaba hasta tarde mirándolo, pero nunca había tenido mucho tiempo para entrenar o practicar. No lo tengo todavía, pero sí es verdad que ahora, cuando estás un poquito más cerca de Eugenio o de Sergio, pues ellos te ayudan a mejorar y te sientes mejor. También creo que es una terapia muy buena

para cualquier persona que sufra estrés. En nuestro caso, tenemos muchas veces mucho estrés, mucha presión y es una manera de desconectar. es una cosa sana, un deporte y es maravilloso para nosotros muchas veces creo que cada día los jugadores de fútbol juegan más algo.

Tú que estás acostumbrado a soportar la presión, en estadios de 50.000 o 60.000 personas, ¿qué grado de nerviosismo has tenido esta mañana?

Si tuviera que dar una escala del 1 al 100… 200, así que imagínate. Los 3 primeros hoyos me temblaban las manos y todo. Es es difícil. Obviamente, cada vez que sacas a una persona de su zona de confort es difícil, luego ya me he puesto mejor a disfrutar. Que estaba muy nervioso porque Valderrama es un campo histórico y que jugar con Sergio, pues no se juega todos los días, así que estaba un poquito nervioso,

How was this ProAm? How was the experience today? Have you ever been to Valderrama before?

It’s my first ProAm, my first time at Valderrama, so, as I’ve said many times: I’m like a kid at Disneyland,

especially being with Sergio and Eugenio... I’ve enjoyed a lot. Sergio asked me if I liked the course and I didn’t even notice. I was so focused on not messing up and doing things right that I enjoyed playing with them. I hope to come back soon to enjoy it more and analyse the holes more slowly, but it was certainly a wonderful experience. I am very grateful to LIV, Sergio and Eugenio for the opportunity they have given me, which has made me very happy.

Both Sergio and Victor Garcia, his father, have given you good advice. What do you take from what they have told you? Everything. Anything they tell me is important and you have to take it.

El cantante sevillano Beret culminó la segunda jornada del LIV Golf Andalucía con un concierto en el que el público se entregó.

Tras finalizar el día de golf todos los asistentes y los aficionados a la música pudieron acercarse a la carpa para disfrutar de la actuación en la que Beret canto sus mayores éxitos. Entre ellos no pudieron faltar “Vuelve”, “Lo siento” o “Esencial”.

Las personas que asistieron vivieron momentos muy especiales en el que el artista se ganó a todos mundo con sus letras pegadizas y su estilo único. Este momento puso el broche de oro a la jornada de golf del sábado.

Tanto el día de concierto como en el resto de la competición los asistentes pudieron disfrutar de una fan zone en la que había food truck, merchandising, zona de juegos y photocall.

LIV Golf premia la labor social de Betania en Valderrama

Betania, presente en el LIV Golf Valderrama. La entidad sin ánimo de lucro fue la elegida por la organización del torneo como una de las entidades locales con las que establecer una alianza, dentro de su estrategia de impacto y sostenibilidad para compensar a la sociedad y cambiar el mundo a través del golf.

Fruto de esta iniciativa, que LIV Golf lleva a cabo en cada país en el que organiza un torneo aliándose con entidades locales, los jugadores del equipo Torque GC han visitado las instalaciones de Betania en La Línea de la Concepción, donde conocieron de primera mano como el equipo de la ONG trabaja con las personas en riesgo o situación de exclusión.

El español David Puig, que ha debutado como profesional este año en Chicago; el colombiano Sebastián Muñoz (120º en el ránking mundial) y los chilenos Joaquín Niemann (38º) Mito Pereira (58º) recorrieron las instalaciones de la

entidad acompañados de su directora, Begoña Arana, que les fue explicando la historia de Betania y las dificultades a las que se enfrenta a diario una organización como esta a la hora de obtener recursos para ayudar a los más vulnerables.

Los golfistas pudieron conocer de primera mano el programa de garantía alimentaria, el albergue social y el Centro de Día para Personas sin Hogar y el área de Atención

Humanitaria, donde se trabaja con migrantes y refugiados. Tras la visita, los deportistas realizaron una pequeña exhibición para un grupo de niños y niñas pertenecientes a familias con las que trabaja Betania. Los pequeños tuvieron la oportunidad de ver de cerca las habilidades de estos profesionales y charlar con ellos, que se mostraron muy cercanos y atentos ante las inocentes preguntas de los jóvenes

aprendices.

“Para los que integramos Betania es un honor haber recibido la visita del equipo Torque GC. Para las familias para las que trabajamos, pero sobre todo para los más pequeños, ha sido una experiencia única estar cerca de grandes jugadores del golf, que además han mostrado su cara más amable y solidaria, la de unos deportistas profesionales que ante todo son personas”, ha comentado Begoña

Arana. “Queremos dar las gracias a LIV Golf por esta alianza que ha decidido establecer con nuestra entidad y que ayudará a Betania a ganar en visibilidad y a conseguir impactar en la vida de más personas en situación de vulnerabilidad. Junto a LIV Golf, Betania es un poco más grande y esperamos poder seguir creciendo juntos en el futuro, tanto dentro como fuera de España”, añadió la directora de la ONG.

Clarity: Clarity in communication is essential to avoid misunderstandings. Express your ideas and feelings directly, using clear language and avoiding ambiguity. Make sure that your message is understandable to the other person, and if necessary, ask for clarification to avoid wrong assumptions.

2. Active listening: Pay full attention to what the other person is saying, showing interest and empathy. Avoid interrupting and practice reflection to make sure you have a good understanding of the other person’s point of view.

3. Mutual respect: Mutual respect is the basis of any healthy relationship. Acknowledge and value the opinions and feelings of others, even if they differ from your own. Avoid destructive criticism or insults and treat others as you would like to be treated.

En esta última semana de colegio el alumnado de cuarto de primaria ha llevado a cabo una actividad muy original y didáctica junto a su tutora Ana Sánchez Rodríguez llamada: Los susurradores de poemas. ¿De qué se trata? Los susurradores surgieron en Francia, en 2001. Se les conocía como “Les Souffleurs , eran unos personajes vestidos de negro, con paraguas y largas corbatas, que proponían a los viandantes de camino al trabajo susurrarles poemas al oído. ¿Por qué susurros? Los susurros resultan un regalo para el alma, y más

en estos tiempos en los que el estrés, las prisas, la sobrecarga de trabajo, la dificultad para prestar atención y la ausencia de intimidad están normalizados en nuestra sociedad. Detenerse a escuchar, esperar a que te toque el turno, a tener un momento solo para ti, individualizar, sentirte único, dejar volar la imaginación, viajar sin moverse del sitio… y si además, lo que te susurran es un poema de la manera en la que lo han hecho estos niños y niñas, el disfrute y mimo para aquellos que deseen poner su oído está garantizado. In this last week of school, the fourth grade students have carried out a very original and didactic activity with their tutor Ana Sánchez Rodríguez called: The Poem Whisperers. What is it about? The whisperers emerged in France in 2001. They were known as “Les Souffleurs” and were characters dressed in black, with umbrellas and long ties, who proposed to passers-by on their way to work to whisper poems in their ears. Why whispering? Whispers are a gift for the soul, especially in these times when stress, rushing, work overload, difficulty in paying attention and lack of intimacy are normalised in our society. To stop and listen, to wait for your turn, to have a moment just for you, to individualise, to feel unique, to let your imagination fly, to travel without moving from your place... and if what is whispered to you is a poem in the way these children have done, the enjoyment and pampering for those who wish to listen is

guaranteed. The effect is magical: the power of poetry is enhanced in that act of intimacy that the action of whispering implies. The great mission of this practice is not only to bring poetry to children, but also to encourage prosocial behaviour.

All that is needed for this experience is a few verses, two people and a cardboard tube about 1 - 1.5 m wide that directs the voice and amplifies the sound of the words. Firstly, they put this wonderful activity into practice with their school friends, teachers and staff of the Town Hall; and secondly, they carried it out with the residents of the San Enrique Senior Citizens’ Centre. The faces of those who put their ear to the other side of the tube became serene, expectant and even joyful. It was touching to feel the bond the children created with the elderly through the whisperer. Everyone benefited from this beautiful experience.

Las caras de quienes ponían su oído al otro lado del tubo se tornaban serenas, expectantes e incluso alegres. Fue conmovedor sentir el vínculo que creaban los niños con los mayores a través del susurrador. Todos se beneficiaron de esta hermosa experiencia.

Continuando con la vuelta a la normalidad tras las restricciones provocadas por la pandemia del COVID, la última semana de colegio del alumnado de Educación Infantil y Primaria del CEIP Barbésula de San Enrique han estado llena de actividades donde toda la comunidad educativa ha compartido momentos divertidos para poder despedir el curso académico de una manera especial y comenzar las, tan deseadas y merecidas, vacaciones llenos de energía.

A pesar de no poder celebrar la popular fiesta del agua debido a las escasas lluvias y a la dramática situación de nuestros pantanos y ríos, la alegría de los pequeños no ha dejado de inundar en todo momento cada rincón del acogedor colegio. Algunas de las actividades que se han llevado a cabo son: taller de magia, recitado de poemas, torneo de fútbol entre alumnado y docentes; festival de coreografías por clases con bandas sonoras de películas (como broche final al proyecto de este curso sobre el cine) con barra de bebidas y comida montada por la Asociación de Madres y Padres del Alumnado (AMPA); graduaciones del alumnado de cinco años y de sexto de primaria; visita de estos últimos al Instituto de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro; reconocimiento a dos alumnas y a un alumno de sexto por su excelencia académica durante toda Primaria; degustación de helados y granizados; y fiesta en cada clase con juegos, comida, música y películas.

Continuing with the return to normality after the restrictions caused by the COVID pandemic, the last week of school for the Infant and Primary students of CEIP Barbésula de San Enrique has been full of activities where the whole educational community has shared fun moments in order to say goodbye to the academic year in a special way and start the much-desired and well-deserved holidays full of energy.

Despite not being able to celebrate the popular water festival due to the scarce rainfall and the dramatic situation of our reservoirs and rivers, the joy of the children has not ceased to flood every corner of the welcoming school. Some of the activities that have been carried out are: magic workshop, poetry recitation, football tournament between students and teachers; choreography festival by classes with film soundtracks (as a finale to this year’s project on cinema) with drinks and food bar set up by the Association of Mothers and Fathers of the Pupils (AMPA); graduations of five year olds and sixth form students; a visit by the latter to the Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro secondary school; recognition of two pupils and a sixth form student for their academic excellence throughout primary school; ice cream and slushie tasting; and a party in each class with games, food, music and films.

Nuevo acerado en la parte alta de Pueblo Nuevo

La teniente de alcalde responsable de Infraestructuras y Obras, Belén Jiménez, ha realizado una visita hoy, jueves, a las obras de creación de nuevo acerado en la parte más alta de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro, donde existen zonas residenciales que carecían del mismo. La edil, quien realizó una visita a la calle Manuel Gavilán de Pueblo Nuevo junto a uno de los técnicos de Emadesa, apuntó que desde la delegación que dirige se están promoviendo este tipo de obras consistentes en crear aceras en zonas que carecían de aceras.

En esta ocasión, explicó que la parte de la carretera que cruza Los Canos hacia la parte alta en Pueblo Nuevo existen una serie de viviendas de tipo chalet que cuentan con el hándicap de que sus calles carecen de acerado. “Desde la delegación -manifestó- estamos do-

New paving in upper zone of Pueblo Nuevo

The mayoral delegate in charge of Infrastructure and Works, Belén Jiménez, visited the new paving work on Thursday in the upper zone of Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro, where there are residential zones that lacked it. The work is being carried out by the San Roque company Laribar, S.L.

The councillor insisted that in this work the priority is issues such as accessibility, and the Infrastructure and Works department is lowering paving to eradicate the obstacles that currently pose architectural obstacles, and also making other improvements, as subsequently the signage department of the Local Police will paint the corresponding zebra crossings.

El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, una de las entidades más históricas y emblemáticas, acogerá entre el 19 y 22 de octubre el Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters, prueba del DP Wolrd Tour [antiguo European Tour] que en los últimos años venía celebrándose en el Real Club Valderrama.

A todas luces, una impresionante noticia tanto para la urbanización como para todo el entorno, ya que potencia aún más y fortalece la imagen de destino ‘premium’ de golf y permite albergar hasta dos torneos profesionales de máximo nivel a sólo unos metros.

• Sotogrande se prepara para el gran espectáculo con la llegada del 52º Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía, con varias de las organizaciones y jugadores más importantes del planeta, con la organización de Ayala Polo Club.

Las instalaciones de Ayala Polo Club han sido el lugar elegido para la presentación de la 52 edición del Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía que tendrá lugar del 24 de julio al 26 de agosto en las canchas de Los Pinos (Sotogrande) y en las sedes de San Enrique de Guadiaro (San Roque). Además, se ha retrasmitido en directo la celebración del sorteo de la competición a través de las redes sociales de Ayala Polo Club y Pololine.

La temporada estival, la tercera que organiza Ayala, contara con novedades deportivas y sociales. Marina y Daniel Minguet, de La Cañada, protagonistas del Pequecircuito en Guadalmina

El Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, en San Pedro de Alcántara, fue el escenario de una nueva prueba de la Zona C (Cádiz Mediterránea y Málaga Occidental y Centro) del Pequecircuito de la Real Federación Andaluza de Golf. Una cita en la que casi 60 jugadores han mostrado la evolución de su juego. Marina Minguet y Daniel Minguet, alumnos de la Escuela de Golf La Cañada, de San Roque, se erigieron en grandes protagonistas venciendo con holgura en sus categorías

En la primera categoría, para golfistas que cumplen ocho años de edad o menos en este 2023, la victoria entre los niños ha sido para Gonzalo Bernal (+8), de la Escuela de Golf Miguel Ángel Jiménez, con dos golpes de ventaja sobre Martín López (+10). Entre las niñas, donde sólo había dos juga-

doras inscritas, la ganadora fue Marina Minguet (+16), de la Escuela de Golf La Cañada (San Roque), con una cómoda ventaja sobre María Ellacuria (+43).

La segunda categoría, para participantes que cumplen nueve o diez años antes del próximo 1 de enero de 2024, tuvo como ganador entre los chicos a Rodrigo del

Pino (+3), de la Escuela de Golf Miguel Ángel Jiménez, con un margen de cuatro golpes sobre Eric Rueda (+7); y entre las chicas, quien logró llevarse el triunfo final con una clasificación más ajustada fue Ofelia González-Carrascosa (+12), aventajando en dos golpes a Martina Parra (+14). La tercera categoría, para golfistas

que cumplen once o doce años de edad en este 2023, tuvo como triunfadores a Alejandro Álvarez (+8), de la Escuela de Golf Miguel Ángel Jiménez, y a su compañera de club Martina Merin (+10). Su margen sobre sus inmediatos perseguidores fue de uno y dos golpes, respectivamente, con Jaime Giménez (+9) y Emma Álvarez (+12)

en segunda posición. La categoría especial fue a parar a manos de Daniel Minguet (+2), de la Escuela de Golf La Cañada, con una tarjeta de tan solo 29 golpes, ocho de ventaja sobre Terence Qiao (+10); y de la jugadora local Martina Tirado (+6) entre las niñas, con un margen de dos golpes sobre Paula Jiménez (+8).
