WELCOME Welcome to Summer in the City, your guide to the hundreds of events and activities taking place for children and young people this summer. There’s so much happening in London all year round, but nothing compares to summer in the city. We love living here, and when the sun comes out, there’s nowhere we’d rather be than in the best city in the world. Summer in the City lists hundreds of summer activities for children, young people and their families across central London. With festivals, open air cinema, nature trails, cupcake making, video design and so much more, there’s little risk of being bored. And it’s because there’s so much happening in London over the summer, with new activities being planned all the time, that we’ve taken Summer in the City online. Visit mysummerinthecity.org.uk for even more great ideas and updated information. We hope this means you’ll never be stuck for things to do. Activities are listed in date order under themes, and most activities are open to residents of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster, unless otherwise stated. All activities are free or low-cost and, if you live in Westminster, show your Westminster City Save card for even more discounts. Most of the activities are suitable for someone with a disability, and this year there’s also a brand new section just for young carers.

Activities for children and young people with disabilities There are lots of inclusive activities in this year’s guide, and the activities on the following pages are specifically for children and young people with disabilities. Look out for the following symbol throughout Summer in the City: Suitable for someone with a disability Providers will strive to cater for your child’s needs. If your child has a disability, a learning difficulty, or additional needs, it is always a good idea to contact the provider in advance to make sure that they can meet your child’s needs effectively. You may wish to see if it is possible to arrange a pre-visit to the site of the activity. A small number of specialist projects require referrals from a social worker – please contact the Disabled Children’s Team in your borough regarding this (contact details opposite). The cost may be able to be met through your social worker or via direct payments.

Chelsea are set to take on Fiorentina at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, 5 August – just three days after the Community Shield clash with Arsenal, and three days before the opening fixture of the new season, a home tie against Swansea.. Tickets for the preseason friendly are selling well, starting at £25 for adults and £12 for juniors and seniors. Full details at www.chelseafc.com The Serie A team, expected to play in white instead of their usual purple, are managed by Paulo Sousa after the sudden sacking of Vincenzo Montella, despite the team from Florence finishing fourth in the league, and being runners-up in the Coppa Italia, the Italian equivalent of the FA Cup.
