Summer in the City 2013

Welcome Welcome to Summer in the City, our round up of events and activities for children and young people over the summer holidays.

It’s been over one year since our three councils began sharing some of our services and this new way of working has helped us to make improvements and keep costs low. We’re proud to say that this year’s booklet is packed full of even more exciting activities, which children and young people across the three boroughs are free to choose from and enjoy.

Cllr Helen Binmore

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services Hammersmith & Fulham Council

There are activities for all ages, with something to do every day of the week, so whether it’s cooking or sport, stage make-up or street dance, stand-up comedy or music courses we’ve got it covered. All activities are low cost or free, and if you live in Westminster make sure you show your City Save card for even more discounts. This year, we have made some changes to the way activities are listed because of feedback we received last year. We were asked to list activities in date order rather than by categories to make it easier for you to plan your summer. So that you can find what you are looking for quickly, we have included a weekly diary at the beginning of the booklet so you can see at-aglance what’s on every day of the summer holidays.

Cllr Elizabeth Campbell

Cabinet Member for Family and Children’s Services The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

We hope this booklet helps you to have a fun and healthy summer packed full of new activities for you to try out.

Cllr Danny Chalkley

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services Westminster City Council

Highlights of the festival include the aftermath of a UFO crashing on an abandoned car park in Notting Hill, an orchestra on the move through the borough’s streets and the colourful history of the King’s Road told through the medium of discarded chewing gum, prompting public responses to environmental littering.
