to deal with uncle Etienne who is still traumatised by his experience of the First War. She becomes involved with the resistance. Werner, as the expert in the unit, leads the others to transmitters and sees the executions of the operators.

FASHION TRENDS FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 22

This book is a page turner. We were carried along by the lives of the two main characters but there were others, Madame Manec, Etienne’s housekeeper, the boys at Werner’s school and his comrades, the museum staff. The title, All the Light We Cannot See, refers to MarieLaure’s blindness but also to those invisible rays that Werner was detecting and Etienne was using to aid the resistance. The author describes Marie-Laure’s life as a blind child dealing with her sightlessness under the care of a loving father and then under conditions of War. He shows us Werner, a likeable child, caught up in the brutality of the Nazi regime. This book has many layers and we all enjoyed reading it. This season there are our five key threads running through the fashion trends.
