EMBAR K on a new adventure

You will never forget your first experience as a Grace Lancer. The moment your car pulls onto our beautiful lakeside campus for PreUnion, you’ll know you made the right choice. Your day will be spent playing sand volleyball, tubing behind the Grace boat, and paddle boarding down the canal. Your time will conclude with worship. As you collectively lift up your voices in praise, you’ll recognize these aren’t just your future classmates; they are your brothers and sisters in Christ. By the end of the day, you won’t just be excited about your journey ahead. You will be ecstatic.

EX P LOR E your surroundings

PreUnion is not the only day you will enjoy the recreational opportunities around Winona Lake. When you first arrive on campus, there will be sunny and 75 degree days where you will bust out of class and be on the mountain biking trails within five minutes! Or if biking isn’t your thing, you can enjoy longboard rides through the greenways or kayaking into the sunset at dusk. Your time at Grace will bring countless adventures, and many of them will take place in our own backyard!

R EMEM BER the faces

As you settle into your freshman year, your relationships with your peers will deepen. Your growth group leader will encourage you to grab hold of the truth of scripture through the ups and downs of your first year, and you will find friends who will pray with you when your heart is heavy. By the time you’re driving off campus for summer break, a collection of faces will fill your rearview mirror, enthusiastically waving goodbye. You will be forever impacted by these faces.

And while we’re talking about your professors...over the course of your time at Grace, your professors will become more than faces at the front of the classroom. They will be the faces you see each week at the gym and at the campus coffee shop. They are real people with their own stories of being transformed by grace.

EN GAG E your professors

Dr. Tiberius Rata

When Dr. Tiberius Rata isn’t teaching a systematic theology course or filling the pulpit of a local church, he’s challenging students to a game of ping pong. Formerly ranked by the U.S. Table Tennis association, Rata promises his students who beat him a perfect score on the next quiz. In his 16 years at Grace, only four students have been able to claim the bragging rights of beating “The Assassin,” as students affectionately call him.

Dr. Roger Stichter Every year, Dr. Roger Stichter gives his advanced accounting students a day off of class to work on a community service project together. But do not be deceived — Stichter can get down to business, and his students’ CPA pass rates prove it. Grace accounting students have the highest pass rates among schools of our size.

Dr. Cheryl Bremer

Dr. Cheryl Bremer is one of the greatest advocates for children with special needs. She has been recognized twice as “Outstanding Special Education Professor” at Indiana’s Council for Exceptional Children Conference. What really sets her apart is that even as a dean and professor in the School of Education, she makes time to get involved in community service programs like Lunch Buddies, Respite Care, Mentors for Mentors, and Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine Prom event.

Dr. Andrew Zhou

Even nanochemistry is a window into better understanding the Creator. Dr. Andrew Zhou attests to this. Zhou’s primary research works to develop more efficient batteries through nanochemistry to address the greenhouse gas emission problem facing the planet. With more than 25 publications surrounding his research, Zhou brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom.

Prof. Christi Walters

Exercise Science Program Director Christi Walters is always ready to direct her students toward the grace of the gospel — whether it is over a “life talk” in her office, integrated into lab coursework in class, or in the middle of an intense workout at the gym. Walters spent her first several years at Grace as an athletic trainer before she saw an opportunity to expand the exercise science program. Now, the program has a state-of-the-art COSMED VO2 max machine and several new offerings, including a fitness and nutrition concentration.

BUIL DI N G Champions of Character

Speaking of being transformed by Grace, you will never forget the lessons you learn on the court, on the field, or in the arena. Your time competing will be so much more than a game — it will be a platform to represent Christ. You will grow in your discipline, determination, tenacity, and grit. You will learn how to be a good teammate and embrace what it means to be a sacrificial leader. While you are at Grace, you will become a Champion of Character.

EN COU NT E R new places

But your time at Grace won’t just be about taking the field; it will be about exploring the globe. When it comes time for you to decide on an immersive cross-cultural experience, you might have a hard time choosing. Should you study abroad for a whole semester in Hungary? Or should you go on a ten-day hiking trip to Austria? Maybe you choose to spend a week serving with a nonprofit organization in Uganda. Regardless of where you go, your senses will be engaged, your wanderlust will be satisfied, and you will leave the trip forever changed. Your world will expand as you encounter new places, new cultures, and new faces.

UNL E AS H your dreams

But you won’t just meet new faces while abroad. Through your internships at Grace, you will meet countless new faces and form valuable career connections. You won’t just talk about career preparation in class, you will sharpen your skills and gain industry insights through applied learning experiences. Who knows, you might even spend your last semester working for a Fortune 500 company here in Warsaw, Indiana, the Orthopaedic Capital of the World. Not to mention, your network will grow exponentially from the day you step foot on campus. As a Grace alumnus, you will join a network of nearly 23,000 purpose-filled professionals across the U.S. and even the world.

You did it! You finished college! All of your career preparation will pay off on graduation day. After years of hard work, you will find yourself standing at the front of the line, eagerly waiting for your name to be read. You will look across the stage and see the smiling faces of many of your professors-turned-mentors clothed in full graduation regalia. And then, they say it. You swiftly stride across the stage, one foot in front of the other as you come face to face with Grace College President Dr. Bill Katip. You confidently shake his hand and take your diploma. This moment will be the culmination of many late-night study sessions, countless hours in the lab, the sweet victory of holding a national championship, a deeper, fuller walk with Christ, and a multitude of friends that walked with you through it all.
