PINK ZONE FACTS

• Pink Zone has donated $3.2 Million to aid breast cancer research and awareness over the last 14 years. • The Lady Lions notched a record number of survivors (698) and hit a record fundraising mark ($310,000 ) for the 2014 Pink Zone at Penn State. • The Lady Lions were the recipient of 2013 and 2014 Play 4Kay Division I award for their efforts to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. • Pink Zone at Penn State fundraising efforts benefit GeisingerLewistown Hospital, Penn Highlands (Huntington), Kay Yow Cancer Fund, Mount Nittany Medical Center, the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and the Penn State Cancer Institute. • The Lady Lions became the first Division I team in the country to wear pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness against Wisconsin on Feb. 4, 2007. • Pink Zone with the help of the the Lady Lions has funded the “Penn State Lady Lion Basketball Cancer Resource Center” at Mount Nittany Medical Center’s new cancer center. • Pink Zone with the help of the Lady Lions has fulfilled their pledge of $50,000 to fund “Penn State Lady Lion Basketball Endowment” through the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. The endowment will provide grants for novel ideas in breast cancer research and will be awarded annually.

CHAMPION THE CAUSE The Mimi U. Barash Coppersmith Pink Zone Champion Award recognizes those who help champion the cause in finding a cure for breast cancer. The individuals or groups are honored because they have made significant contributions in the area of awareness, prevention, education, treatment, research or care.
