Leslie Odom Jr. returns to Broadway for the first time since his 2016 Tony Award-winning performance in “Hamilton.” He stars in “Purlie Victorious,” as a preacher who returns to his hometown in Jim Crow Georgia to save his local church and liberate his community from a diabolical overseer. Ossie Davis wrote and starred in the original 1961 Broadway production of this rollicking satire. Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon directs. (Previews begin September 7). Music Box Theatre. www.purlievictorious.com

Original “Book of Mormon” stars Josh Gad and Andrews Rannells reunite in “Gutenberg! The Musical,” playing clueless but earnest best friends who pitch their highly inaccurate musical about printing press inventor Johannes Gutenberg to potential investors. With music, lyrics and book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, and directed by Alex Timbers (the team behind “Beetlejuice”), the musical has been a fringe, regional and off-Broadway favorite since its premiere in 2005. (Previews begin September 15) James Earl Jones Theatre. www.gutenbergbway.com

The hottest ticket last season, the New York Theatre Workshop’s production of “Merrily We Roll Along” moves to Broadway with its extraordinary cast intact: “Hamilton’s”

of the rooms, giant creatures , and seemingly impossible effects constantly happening all around, quite literally swirling them into this nightmare world.

Tickets, beginning at $39, are available at www.facetheterror.com, with early bird pricing available until September 19.

Jonathan Groff (who exudes warmth and sweetness), Tony-winner Lindsay Mendez and Daniel Radcliffe star as friends in this tale told in reverse from their bitter estrangement and disillusion in middle-age to their shared dreams as aspiring artists in 1957. With a magnificent score by Stephen Sondheim and a problematic book by George Furth, “Merrily” -- a legendary flop when it premiered in 1981 -has become a frequently-revived cult favorite. Director Maria Friedman, who staged the Menier Chocolate Factory’s Olivier-winning production, has solved many of the musical’s problems in this exhilarating production. (Previews begin September 9.) Hudson Theatre. https://merrilyonbroadway.com/

The Manhattan Theatre Club presents award-winning Ghanaian-American playwright Jocelyn Bioh’s (“School Girls: Or, The African Mean Girls Play”) Broadway debut “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” about the West African-born women who work in a Harlem hair-braiding salon. According to the show’s website: “During a sweltering summer day, love will blossom, dreams will flourish and secrets will be revealed…forcing this tight-knit community to confront what it means to be an outsider.” (Previews begin September 12.) Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. https://www.manhattantheatreclub.com/ shows/2023-24-season/jajas-african-hair-braiding/ Grammy and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge makes her Broadway debut in the autobiographical “Melissa Etheridge: My Window,” a sold out hit off-Broadway last fall. In this highly personal musical memoir, co-written with her wife Linda Wallem Etheridge, Etheridge recounts stories from her Kansas childhood and discusses fame as a rock performer, coming out as a lesbian in the 1990s and the death of her adult son three years ago. Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Bearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (The New York Times), Vega’s songs have tended to focus on city life, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated, her work is immediately recognizable—as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago. SPORTS BEAT

The 2023 season will obviously not be remembered fondly by most Mets fans. It seemed as if the die was cast when baseball’s best closer, Edwin Diaz, was lost for the year when his knee buckled celebrating a win by Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic held last March.

Diaz wasn’t the only Mets casualty as starting pitchers Justin Verlander and Jose Quintana missed the first month, and three months of the season, respectively. Throw in the first half struggles of rookies Brett Baty and Mark Vientos, as well as veterans Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil, and Starling Marte, and it is no wonder team owner Steve Cohen ordered general manager Billy Eppler to dismantle the team by trading Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, and other veterans with expiring or short-term contracts for young prospects. By the time the smoke cleared, Mets fans weren’t thinking about playoffs, but rather would their team be able to avoid losing 100 games.

Mets fans can take pride in the fact they have the best television Major League Baseball broadcast team. Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling (GKR) are marking their 18th year working together which eclipses the seventeen years turned in by the Mets’ first broadcast team of Ralph Kiner, Lindsey Nelson, and Bob Murphy. The Mets cable home, SNY, recently debuted a documentary aptly titled “Gary Keith & Ron 18.” When Baseball Hall of Famer, and Commack High school alum, Bob Costas, is calling these three men the best at what they do, as he does in this documentary, then

you know the adulation is deserved.

The documentary shows clips of the trio’s most memorable moments such as Johan Santana’s 2012 no-hitter and Yoenis Cespedes’s 2015 and 2016 home run-hitting heroics. GKR admit they are rooting for the Mets but make the important distinction they are not “homers,” as they will give credit to the other team, as well as criticize our Flushing heroes, when deserved.

They also understand the importance of entertaining viewers when a game becomes a blowout. Recently, Cohen and Darling spent the final innings of a game praising the music of Depeche Mode, while a week earlier, Cohen and Hernandez were discussing the merits of Styx.

The annual SNY Kidcaster event is one which brings out the best in GKR. This year’s winner was eight-year-old Christopher Ivazes from Tom’s River, NJ, which is the hometown of former Mets and Yankees Al Leiter and Todd Frazier. Ivazes

MARINO, DURFEE EARN LIGBT HONORS

The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its 12th and final event of its House Shot Series at AMF East Meadow Lanes on August 20 in another event that scored big for participants. The tournament used a four-game format with the top two scorers from each age handicap division advancing to a four-person shootout. There was also a separate scratch competition. When the smoke cleared, the handicap champion was Josh Marino for Port Jefferson Station (who earned $1,000 for his efforts), while the scratch winner emerged as Kyle Durfee of Levittown, who brought home $600.

The final handicap shootout proved to be extremely close, with the winner not decided until the final frame. Sal Maenza of Franklin Square led the shootout for nine frames by striking in seven of his first nine shots - but when he missed a one-pin spare in the 10th, it opened the door for Marino, who struck on his first ball in the 10th frame to grab his first LIGBT title, 269-264. Maenza, who was also looking for his first title, earned $700 for his runner-up position. Finishing in third place and earning $500 was Jedd Ocampo of East Meadow, with a 244; he was the only finalist to roll a clean game in the shootout. Rounding out the top four was Harry Park of Flushing, with a 208 worth $400.

The scratch event was won by Kyle Durfee with a four-game total of 1,068 (267 average.) Finishing in second place with a 1,010 was Justin Kampf of Levittown, earning $350. Rounding out the top three and earning $220 was Jedd Ocampo, with a 997 series. A total of seven bowlers cashed in the $1,730 prize fund that featured a cashing score of 916. There was a total of 27 scratch entries recorded.

was very good because he did not try to be a precocious baseball savant. When Ron Darling mentioned how journeyman outfielder Abraham Almonte may have trouble knowing the MLB strike zone after spending most of the season in the minors. “He’s got to adjust!” Ivazes said matter-offactly. The kid has a future!

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #12 at AMF East Meadow drew a large field of 117 entries, paid out $7,565 in prize money, and had 31 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $4,315, bringing the total day’s payout to $11,880. Scores to cash were 952 in the 49 & under handicap division, 943 in the senior handicap division, and 916 in the scratch event. The winner of Storm ball raffle was Sal Palazzalo of Bayside.

To view the results of the AMF East Meadow house shot tournament, visit ligbtour.com, where a full schedule of upcoming tournaments can be found. These enjoyable amateur tournaments bring a big-game feel for serious league bowlers, so make your plans now to get involved.

IT’S LEAGUE TIME AGAIN

Most area league bowlers do not bowl in summer leagues (what few of them there are these days), so once again it’s time to dust off the old Dexters and get ready for the 2023/2024 bowling season. This year feels a bit different, however; with the closing of some area centers as well as the advent of string pins being installed in some houses, it was a summer of scrambling to find places for more than a few serious league bowlers to ply their trades. Once the smoke clears, however, reason seasons prove that league participation in the Long Island area remains strong as this region remains a hotbed for competitive bowling.

Most league bowlers pick up a new bowling ball at the onset of league season, and we’re sure this season will be no exception. Naturally, the top ball companies have a host of new releases ready for bowlers, and area pro shops are now featuring some great new pieces.

New to the market is one of the most, dare we say it, beautiful pieces we’ve laid eyes on in quite a while: The 900 Global Zen Gold Label, the new premium piece from the brand, which claims this new ball is the cleanest and most responsive Zen to date. Check it out at area pro shops and stores.

HBO made a good decision in choosing the New York Jets to be the focus of the current edition of “Hard Knocks.” It is not surprising that the lion’s share of the focus of each episode is on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets QB is surprisingly affable, and he wows the crowd at the Jets training camp in Florham Park, NJ with his ability to throw a ball over fifty yards and placing it squarely in the net.

The funniest moment of the first “Hard Knocks” episode was watching a helicopter land in the middle of a Jets practice which was carrying only one passenger. It was the longtime voice of HBO Sports documentaries, and “Hard Knocks,” actor Liev Schreiber, who admits he would have preferred to drive to Florham Park but that HBO executives thought a helicopter landing would add some dramatic punch. He jokes with Aaron Rodgers about how all he is doing is ripping off the legendary voice of NFL Films, the late John Facenda, and how he was a mediocre defensive back at Brooklyn Technical High School. I would have liked to have heard Schreiber tell Rodgers how he was able to keep his “Hard Knocks” gig amid the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Nickelodeon will be its NFL footprint this year. In addition to its traditional wildcard playoff game, it will televise a Christmas Day game, and it was just announced it will be televising Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas in February 2024. Analyst Nate Burleson will be getting a new play-by-play partner given

the departure of Noah Eagle to NBC Sports. It would be funny if Noah’s dad, Ian Eagle, succeeded him. Expect the green slime to fly in Vegas!

Serena Williams’ retirement has opened the endorsement doors for other female tennis players. New Balance has quietly been trying to make a move on Nike when it comes to athletic endorsements. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is a prominent New Balance endorser. Before the 2024 US Open got underway, New Balance held a press event for tennis star Coco Gauff to debut a shoe she designed, the Coco CG1. Gauff is a good choice because she is a tennis star who is very affable and eschews the diva shtick of many of her predecessors.

Showtime Sports, which hit paydirt last month with the Errol Spence, Jr.-Terence Crawford pay-per-view, will have another big demand bout on September 30th when Canelo Alvarez meets Jermell Charlo at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Boxing, which was slumping not that long ago, is alive and well.

ARKELLS

HEADLINE WARSAW

There’s been no shortage of new music from Arkells over the last few years, having released their Blink Once and Blink Twice projects, featuring collaborations with the likes of Cold War Kids, K.Flay, Tegan and Sara, Aly & AJ and Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers, ahead of the introduction of a brand new album, Laundry Pile, due this fall.

Much of Arkells’ most recognizable material aims to be spirited and anthemic. It’s the kind of album that is one cohesive listening experience - in keeping with the spirit of the classic singer-songwriter tradition.

J.B. CROWELL AND SONS: AMERICAN BRICKS SPIRIT: STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY DISTILLED AND BOTTLED

I got the chance to sit with Wendy Crowell from American Brick at one of their “Tasting Events” here on Long Island and was lucky enough to be one of the first to try their American Brick; Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

A brief history on the company before we dive into the barrel; Founded in 1872, the J.B. Crowell & Sons Brick Mould Factory of Wallkill, NY helped build the New York City’s Skyline. The property is now a national historic landmark but before the building was retired it once produced small batch bourbons! This helped Inspired the American Brick Bourbon we have today, a 4-Grain Bourbon sourced and crafted in Wallkill, New York. Standing strong with history and pride; now with eight generations dedicated to craftsmanship.

Dating back to seven generations of pre-prohibition distilling, American Brick now has locally grown corn, rye barley and wheat, making it pure American Craft. With water sourced from a limestone aquifer deep beneath their family property, it’s no wonder they are delivering a unique blend of bourbon right here in New York.

After the first sip, you notice a complex flavor profile with hints of raisin and orange. A splash of toffee and honey for your finish. It’s a little on the light side for the barrel proof sippers (92 Proof) but perfect for your everyday drinker.

If you let the bottle aerate for some time, you’ll notice a big difference on the nose and pour. A sweeter hint of cherry hits the palate now, the scent becomes softer and this oxidation process was actually advised by Wendy (one of the many family secrets) and should be followed by all! Both ways have uniqueness to their profiles and no matter which at you prefer, American Brick Straight Bourbon Whiskey should satisfy either craving.

OLD SPIRIT DISTILLERY: WHISKEY DISTILLED & HIDDEN IN GREAT LOCAL COMMUNITY!

Whenever you hear chatter or debates about where great bourbon distilleries are; you usually hear it followed the words; “distilled in Kentucky.” But after visiting the Old Spirit Distillery; located at 3670 Oceanside Rd W STE 6 in Oceanside; John Dianellos may have his own trend to set soon.

To start; Old Spirit is Nassau County’s first and only distillery! It was founded in 2017 and only uses corn from New York State Farm’s and is certified organic and kosher. Using state of the art equipment like their milling machines and distillery kettles, the strive on providing a product that is as pure and organic as possible.

But John feels that the product doesn’t just rely on the specifically calibrated machines that he has in incredible distillery; the human touch is just as important to achieve the finest quality as bud cookers are. All the products are cooked, fermented, distilled and bottled on site and never have outside hands interfere. John takes pride in showcasing these fine qualities that go into the distilling process.

I was lucky enough to try batch 1 (before it hits the shelves) of their Organic Bourbon Whiskey and it was unlike other bourbons I’ve tried! We immediately set up a tasting table and went to work.

At 90 proof, the aroma of fig gently travels to your nose. This unique scent comes from the barrels being made from trees in Russia, where those trees naturally contain sugar and grain. Once you taste the first sip; vanilla and caramel are very balanced on the palate. Clean and subtle, apple and corn but can clearly taste why John is so proud of the process. The corn has a unique quality to it unlike some others. The finish was smooth and light, leaving you wanting more! After spending the day at the Old Spirit Distillery, I can now say great bourbon is also distilled in Oceanside!

WOMEN WHO ROCK

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Nora Jane Struthers announced her forthcoming LP, Back To Cast Iron, due out October 27th. She released its lead single, “Is It Hope,” an uplifting Americana ballad about finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. In it, Struthers sings of sunlight, red birds, and blooming plants – painting an audiovisual picture of optimism. Vibrant and deeply relatable, “Is It Hope” reminds the listener that life truly does get better. While such big changes could easily inspire quiet musical reflection, Struthers chooses a more extroverted approach. Starting with “Is It Hope”? and “Oh To Be Home,” a pair of sky-gazing three-chord wonders, the album locks into a mostly uptempo groove. “Car Henge” is a speedometer-ticking rocker about a rusty roadside sculpture that’s “sexier than Cleopatra,” and the California country-flavored “Life Of A Dream” is like a spiritual Marie Kondo-style recalibration.

Despite the anxiety and existential questions that fueled it, Back To Cast Iron has the feel of first-day-of-summer optimism and possibility.

BAILEY SPINN EP

With one of her most exciting years to date, Gen Z punk-rock musician Bailey Spinn has released her debut EP, “My Worst Enemy” along with news of her upcoming tour with stops scheduled in Anaheim, San Francisco, and New York City.

Following the success of her first two releases, “Romance Is Dead,” and “Runner Up”, with over 5 Million+ streams, Bailey is going into Fall with the release of her debut EP. Inspired by punk-rock stars such as Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams, Bailey’s music is bringing back the nostalgic feel with modern twists including theatrical visuals and gut-punching beats. Using her story-telling abilities - a talent she strengthened through her experience writing out short-form content for social media - Bailey’s transformed her thoughts of selfdoubt, alienation, mental health struggles, and romantic disappointments through powerful songwriting alongside her producer Kodeblooded and songwriters such as Tiffany Stringer, and LOLO.

ANITTA UNLEASHES FUNK GENERATION

Back with a whole lot of heat, record-breaking international star Anitta unleashes a brand new threesong bundle entitled Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story today via Republic Records.

Anitta paved the way for Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story with the international banger “Funk Rave.” It is already approaching 25 million Spotify streams in addition to nearly 15 million YouTube views on the music video. The bundle includes two brand new tracks “Casi Casi” and “Used To Be” which will be accompanied by music videos that will tell how the three-part story unfolds.

Anitta’s first single of 2022, “Envolver,” became the biggest solo debut by a Brazilian artist in the history of the Spotify Global Chart and broke Anitta’s record by reaching #1 on iTunes in 19 countries. She also released her latest album Versions of Me in April 2022.

ANNA HILLBURG’S TIRED GIRLS

Tired Girls, the third full-length studio album by Bay Area singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Anna Hillburg, comes out Friday, October 13th on Speakeasy Studios SF. Co-produced and recorded with Jason Quever of the Papercuts, the pair created an album for lovers of finely crafted and supremely catchy chamber pop.

As always Hillburg’s voice takes center stage, but for Tired Girls she made a conscious choice to dig deeper into her trumpet skills and make more elaborate horn arrangements than her previous records. Lyrically, Hillburg dives into what it is to be a contemporary woman, and how one perseveres, finds inspiration, creates, loves, and lives.

Recorded throughout 2022 at Quever’s studio, the two built dreamy soundscapes with long-time collaborators Logan Kroeber on drums (The Dodos), Josh Miller on bass (Chime School, Extra Classic), and Yea Ming Chen on keys.

SANDY BAILEY’S “DAUGHTER OF ABRAHAM”

Massachusetts-based singer-songwriter Sandy Bailey released her new LP, Daughter Of Abraham, via Red Parlor Records. Within each of the album’s 10 powerful tracks, Bailey explores themes of aloneness, survival, seeking love, getting lost, and finding her own way. Recorded in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and produced by Bailey herself, Daughter Of Abraham includes performances by acclaimed musicians like guitarist Ryan Hommel (Amos Lee), bassist and engineer Marc Seedorf (Dinosaur JR, Lou Barlow), and drummer Don McAulay (The Rolling Stones, Neil Young) as well as her neighbors, her father, her coworkers, and even her children.

Bailey laments the superficial nature of modern dating and the online personas we craft in “Get The Message Through” and “I Ain’t Your Honey,” shares thoughts on our politically supercharged society and trying to survive its crumbling economy in “Already Down,” and grieves the passing of John Prine in the country-tinged “Dear John.” She captures a daydream in “Waiting On Summer,” converses with a sparrow in “Time’s Gonna Come,” and wistfully sings of romance in the psychedelic “Like You Loved Me.”

HANNAH DIAMOND PERFECT PICTURE

London-based multidisciplinary artist Hannah Diamond announced her anticipated sophomore album Perfect Picture due October 6th via PC Music. Perfect Picture cascades across twelve glistening, experimental pop tracks including the recently shared empowering anthem “Affirmations.”

To pair with the Perfect Picture announcement, Hannah Diamond shares the glossy title track alongside a new video. Directed by Christopher Tym, the video is a glimmering one take shot that sees Hannah take a fully choreographed routine on for the first time whilst spinning on a rotating platform. Inspired by a portrait of her grandmother backstage at a ballet show in her childhood, the video is a tender reference to the prevalent themes of self image and girlhood that pop up on the record whilst also being an example of Hannah’s multifaceted creative identity.

The vibe is set from the very beginning and continues to deliver throughout the mix. Seeing them live is no different. The guys take their skills and put it into a live performance that would turn anyone’s head, giving any age and music taste something to write home about. Not to mention they’re at an iconic venue like Rockefeller Center, what’s not to love about this experience?

Having just recently returned from Shambhala Music festival, my passion to find all the best music has been reignited (as per usual postfestival). One announcement made at the fest was that NGHTMRE and Big Gigantic would be releasing a collaboration album under their joint alias Gigantic NGHTMRE and boy did they deliver. It really showcases both their styles as well as a fresh direction for both of them. It’s got a little house, a bit of those heavier wubs, some funk, and then some

signature Big Gigantic saxophone licks to really cover all the bases. Chopped up female vocals, too? You betcha. Mesmerizing melodies? Count on it. This group is nothing but good vibes when they perform and this EP puts that on display.

A recent discovery for me via some friends is the rising start Alleycvt. She’s constantly delivering innovating and interesting new music and falls into the bass realm of electronic music. In addition to production, she’ll often sing vocals on her own tracks, bringing an extra wow factor. I always love seeing artists who are multifaceted and can hit multiple sweet spots all at the same time. Her songs hit hard and her vocal quality is tantalizing. I’m so glad I’ve found out about her and can watch her grow and shine in the coming years. She’s already sharing the stage with the likes of Dirt Monkey and Jantsen, so you know she’s about to blow up soon. Check her out if you haven’t, you’ll be glad you did.

Doing a complete 180, I’d like to bring some attention to my man Flamingosis, out there bringing the chill, euphoric energy to the world. With a style rooted in old school funk,

Flamingosis feels like a trip back in time with tons of new influence bringing bright chord progressions, rhythmically addicting beats, and smooth bass to your home. His recent release titled “Float Away” with Recess and Eric Benny Bloom sets the mood just right and is one I got on repeat quite a lot. Great guitar riffs and just that overall funkiness that hits just right. This one has been on repeat for a while. In addition to that jam, he released a full length album earlier this year titled “Bliss Station” and it’s exactly what it sounds like. This album with Ehiorobo really showcases his talent and diversity of sound with everything from slow, dreamy tracks like “Piece” to upbeat and energizing bops like “Autobahn”. His talent knows no limits and he always puts on a great live performance in concert.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your time, as I’m sure you usually do. Hit me up at richiegtechno@gmail.com with any thoughts. Until then, keep raging my friends!

CLASSIC ROCK

ZOMBIES AT ADLER HALL

The Zombies originally infiltrated the airwaves with sophisticated melodies, breathy vocals, choral back up harmonies and jazzy keyboard riffs of their 1960’s hit singles “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”. Ironically, the original lineup disbanded just prior to achieving their greatest success–the worldwide chart-topping single “Time of the Season,” from their swan-song album Odessey and Oracle, ranked in the Top 100 of Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Zombies will perform at Adler Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture on Friday, October 27 at 7:30PM. The iconic British psychedelic pop legends are celebrating their long-awaited new album, Different Game (2023-Cooking Vinyl Records), with this New York City show. Tickets are $69, $89 and $119 (plus applicable fees) and on sale at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-zombies-different-game-tour-23-tickets-662490987377.

JOHN MELLENCAMP’S NEW ALBUM ORPHEUS

The much anticipated twenty fifth studio album from John Mellencamp—Orpheus Descending—is out on Republic Records.

Orpheus Descending was produced by Mellencamp and recorded at his own Belmont Mall Studio. One of his most personal records to date, standout tracks “Hey God” and “The Eyes of Portland” focus on social issues Mellencamp continues to passionately advocate for.

He recently released a deluxe edition reissue of his beloved seminal album, Scarecrow, which features a massive collection of bonus tracks, rarities and more never previously shared before.

Mellencamp has continued to focus on another facet of his artistic expression: painting. Last year, he released a self-curated book of his work, John Mellencamp: Paintings and Assemblages, which is out now on Rizzoli New York.

PAUL RODGERS’ “TAKE LOVE”

Paul Rodgers released his highly-anticipated new single, “Take Love.” Following “Living It Up” as the second single from Rodgers’ forthcoming album Midnight Rose, “Take Love” reminds listeners why he is one of rock’s most iconic vocalists.

With a carpe diem, live-life-to-the-fullest lyric backed by driving guitars and booming drums, Rodgers’ vocal takes center stage here. Newly mastered in Dolby Atmos spatial audio, fans will recognize “Take Love” from live set lists during his tenure fronting Queen on tour. In addition to Queen, Rodgers’ career has spanned Free, Bad Company, The Firm with Jimmy Page, and more.

Set for release on September 22, Midnight Rose will be Rodgers’ first album in many years – and his first on Sun Records – a natural partnership between two rock legends.

“They introduced me to musicians Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Elvis Presley and many others who set me on my musical adventures,” Rodgers has said of Sun.

NEW MODEL ARMY RELEASE “SONFONIA”

New Model Army are a band who exist and thrive outside of any singular genre. Throughout their long and storied career, they have never taken the easy or safe choice, becoming notorious for shunning fame, and instead with each successive album pushing the boundaries of creativity.

It is the same principled, music-first approach that led to one of this year’s essential albums – Sinfonia. Recorded at Tempodrom, Berlin on July 15th, 2022, New Model Army and Sinfonia Leipzig, a full-scale orchestra, conducted by Cornelius During, may seem to some like an obvious evolution, however, in true New Model Army style they have broken down the barriers between band and orchestra in a new and exciting fashion.

A Strictly Limited earBOOK Edition with Double-CD, DVD, Blu-ray, 80- page book and an exclusive Bonus CD with 8 songs from the band’s “SO36” show in Berlin as well as various bundles will become available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.
