A Note From the Partnership

Dear Friends,

Welcome back to the Park for our Fall & Winter sessions. We are so glad that Glen Echo Park can be part of your creative journey!

For the 2022-2023 season, Residents arts groups are presenting new and innovative classes to meet the creative needs of our community. These include:

• Stone Tower Studio offers new Art Clinic categories: Just Starting Out Art Clinics for students new to certain media and Alla Prima Art Clinics for students to explore the technique with color.

• Award-winning children’s theater the Puppet Co has new programs for educators, students, and puppetry fans ranging from Puppet Boot Camp to The History of Puppet Theatre.

• Our digital and darkroom studio, Photoworks, presents foundational classes like Getting Started Shooting

Video, Protecting Your Digital Files, and Teen Photography Night. New “Focus” classes include Document Your

DC, The Woman’s Eye, and Neighborhood Meet-Ups in Montgomery Co.

• Silverworks presents a new Jewelry Expressions Curious Castings workshop and a return to a full slate of

Silver Passport Workshops covering many different smithing techniques.

• Yellow Barn Studio presents exciting class offerings in painting and drawing, such as Introduction to Digital

Painting with Procreate, Visual Fitness Workouts for Seeing More, and art history workshop on Fauvism – First

“Insurgency” in Twentieth Century Art.

Our independent instructors are also offering new programs – in Fiber Arts, including knitting and colorwork mending, as well as new mosaics workshops, such as Memory Keepsake Stained Glass Mosaic Frame and “Get Your Gaudi On” Mosaics Workshop.

We encourage you to browse this digital catalog, and when you find a class that’s right for you, signing up is easy with the interactive links that go directly to our registration system. Also, if you know what you are looking for in the catalog, the links in the Table of Contents will get you there quickly!

Of course, classes and workshops are only part of the Park’s abundant programming for fall and winter. We hope you’ll join us for special events, including the 51st annual Labor Day Art Show, an Open House for classes, and a Social Dance Showcase – all over Labor Day weekend – plus Fall Frolic in October, Holiday Art Show & Sale in November (through December), and Winter’s Eve in December. See page 86 for event information and dates.

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the financial support of the community in order to present high-quality, affordable programs. We hope you will join us in supporting the Park with a one-time or monthly donation!

Stay well and creative,

Katey Boerner, Executive Director
