Competitions Faixa i Baixa_Racons PĂşblics 2013_2nd Prize The proposal is intended to encourage the pedestrian use of the street, incorporating it into the path of public spaces present at either end of it. A continuous painted strip dictates the routes, leading to private accesses and separating the pedestrian from the vehicular traffic areas. I-t also continues on the wall vertically and becomes the signs to nearby facilities. The same strip turns into a slide and encourages a play area, in continuity with the Plaza.
Competitions Ao Parque_Desafios Urbanos 2012 The contest is about the renovation of an abandoned industrial building, with the aim of revitalizing the whole area of the city around it. The project wants to respect the surrounding context, especially the visual relationships that establish the Vila Flor and its garden on one side, and the big park on the other. The main building has a long facade that runs along the road that leads from the train station to the city center. This facade is preserved, but the three large windows are converted into two accesses to different levels and patios exposed to the light. The road itself is brought inside the building, and creates a visual relationship between the gardens of Vila Flor and the green area opposite. The west facade however is remodeled to better take advantage of the sunlight. The plan extends on three points towards the park, while generating small patios within the existing building. Each new volume contains different public functions.
University Final Project Entre medianeras Once upon a time there was the first observatory in Barcelona, Villa Urania, from which you could clearly see the stars. Now Villa Urania is in the middle of the city, trapped between two eight-storey buildings that expose it to their windowless facades (“medianeras”). Together with its garden it stoically resists real estate speculation, being constrained to public use and hosting a kindergarten. The project aims to preserve the building, converting it into a civic center that expands to the basement, and opening a walkway through the garden. A new building attached to one of the“medianeras” will contain a kindergarden and apartments. It is modeled with respect for the openings of surrounding buildings and dealing with the different urban scales present on both sides.
