f you like pizza and Danish design, look no further than Gorm's, a new pizzeria that opened this April in Yakuin. The owner, interior shop proprietor Seiichiro Iwamura, travels to Denmark several times a year. There he met Gorm Wisweh at his eponymous pizzeria, and the two struck up a friendship that led to the opening of the Fukuoka shop. What impressed Iwamura the most about Denmark was its comfortable yet refined atmosphere.

For the uninitiated, kakigori is a shaved ice dessert flavored with everything from syrup to condensed milk, fruits, and more. It’s a popular street food, a staple at summer festivals, convenience stores and cafes in the hot months. In summer, you’re bound to find it everywhere (just look for the blue and red “氷” sign!) but that doesn’t mean all kakigori are created equal. A good kakigori has a fluffy consistency of freshly fallen snow, with quality toppings and flavorings. A bad kakigori can be a sickeningly sweet cup of crunchy ice. The Tenjin area becomes a big theme park with a series of summer events for children. There’s Tenjin "Cool-musement" Park at Fureai Hiroba with 12 water attractions including a 7m waterslide, plus many more events, exhibitions, and workshops for the family.
The art of dance is widely celebrated in Indian culture. At this show, enjoy three types of Indian dance: Mohinyattam from Southwest India, Bharatanatyam from the South, and Odissi from the East. Live sitar performances, songs of prayer, and Indian pictures between dances.

Applications for City-run Housing ◊ New Cityscape Taking Shape in Ropponmatsu Five years have passed since the Kyushu University Ropponmatsu Campus relocated to the Ito Campus in Nishi Ward. Some roads and parks have been completed on the 6.5 ha former campus site, and major construction work is about to begin (scheduled to be completed in 2018). The Fukuoka High Court, Public Prosecutor’s Office and Bar Association will relocate to the site, and JR Kyushu will build a multipurpose facility which will house the Fukuoka City Children’s Science & Culture Center (popular for its planetarium and due to open in 2017) and the Kyushu University Law School. Local residents will be able to unwind along a 10m wide greenway encircling the entire site. Inquiries: University Relocation Coordination Section (092-711-4154)
