LETTER FROM THE EDITOR This August Issue marks a big step for Florum Fashion Magazine, being our second issue; we have a lot of amazing new content that is here to stay. Being our biggest issue yet, it has exceeded my own expectations of what we have been hoping to achieve with this second issue. The title of this moneth's issue, “Nature’s Vixen”, was chosen to represent the inner vixen in all of our readers. We want everyone to feel inspired and not be afraid to feel beautiful, because everyone has an inner beauty waiting to be exposed. My personal favorite addition to the magazine staff this month is our new contributor, Bailee Edington. Each issue she will be focusing on our favorite couture brand names and letting us know the steps that they are taking to reduce their ecological footprint on our planet. This month, she started out with Gucci, so be sure to flip through the pages and read about how one of the biggest fashion houses is choosing to change their ways and help our environment. Another addition to this issue is our Thrift Finds article. The purpose of this article is to expose the deals and finds you can get at the many consignment, second hand, and thrift stores around town. Every item included in the Thrift Finds section was purchased for a low cost and has a 0% impact on the environment. We also had some absolutely amazing submissions for this August Issue, and we cannot thank our contributors enough. We are also very excited for our October issue entitled "Sinned". We choose this name to remind our readers that none of us are perfect and we all sin, and what is a better way to celebrate this than with the month of Halloween! Thanks for Reading

Ways to improve your lifestyle By Noelle Lynne
1. Water, Water, Water Put down all the sugar energy drinks and sodas for good ole water, you'll be surprised how much better your body will feel when properly hydrated. As an old saying goes; If you're feeling thirsty, you're already dehydrated. 2. Eat More Organic Fruit Start your morning with fresh fruit and you will be energized throughout the day, and what's better than Nature's own Sugar? Not to mention, fruit is a kick-start for your metabolism in the morning. 4. Organic Tea, not Coffee Swapping out heavy caffeine for a lighter version or a non-caffeinated version, will improve your skin. Tea is also completly guilt free with no hidden calories. 5. Try a Vegetarian Dish Try replacing one meat meal a week for something vegetarian, and you will be pleasantly surprised about how great you feel! Those green vegetables will do your body a world of good and save you from some unwanted calories. 6. Walk Everyday Put those headphones on, and get out for at least 20 minutes a day. Its true that exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy! Burn fat the fun way by walking a little more every day. 7. Visit Your Local Farmers Market Farmers markets are absolutely amazing and there is nothing better then locally grown fruits and vegetables, picked at the peak of ripeness. You're also directly supporting your local economy when you buy local. And did we mention that most products are actually cheaper then the average grocery store? 8. Go Thrifting Yes, we said it! Go out and do some shopping. Get on Yelp and look up your closest thrift or consignment shop, you'll be surprised by all the money you save and how great you feel about your purchase. You can't beat picking something up that would otherwise be in a landďŹ ll or our oceans. 9. Ride your bike Most of us live about 20 minutes biking distance to a supermarket, convenience store, or coffee shop. Next time you think about driving there, try taking your bike. Riding your bike even once a week instead of driving will do wonders to for our environment and air quality. 10. Try gluten-free products Don't get me wrong, I love grain based products, however only in moderation. When you're at the supermarket next, try a gluten-free product (most are now labeled gluten-free), or try some delicious spelt bread. FLORUM FASHION | AUGUST 2012

THE GREENER SIDE OF FASHION By Bailee Edgington Ever since I was a little girl, Gucci has been my favorite designer. It was my first designer purchase, all of my graduation money went to a new wallet and sunnies, and my first credit card went to a pair of Gucci shoes. Well ladies, Gucci has finally done it. They have made sustainable shoes!

The Marola Interlocking G Flat launched at the end of June this year. After Gucci launched their green shades last year, they followed up with amazing flats for prefall this year. Back in 2010 Gucci launched new, 100% recyclable packaging, but kept true to their quality and look. When I found out that Gucci was becoming a more eco friendly company, I fell even more in lust with them. On Gucci's website, under "World of Gucci", you can find a whole section about their new environmental stance. President and CEO of Gucci said “The world’s leading brands are rightly judged today, not just on the quality of their products and services, but also on the way they act in the community and towards the environment. Since 2004, Gucci has volunteered for assessment to qualify for the certification of Corporate Social Responsibility across its entire supply chain.” After seeing some of Gucci's environmentally friendly styles, who wouldn't want to jump on board of the eco-friendly movement?
