California’s Top 3 Music Festivals

Today music festivals are where we all can come together to laugh, to smile, to dance, and to make unforgettable memories. California holds three of the most diverse festivals in the USA, including Coachella, Outside Lands, and the Treasure Island Music Festival. Besides the most obvious fact of music drawing me to a festival, the close runner up to the music festival itself is having no boundaries to what can be worn. Fashion is about expression and I can personally say that the weeks leading up to the festival can be just as fun, as I shop from Bloomingdales to thrift stores, looking for the perfect outfits . The first of the large festivals in California was this past April, located in Southern California in the city of Indio. Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival is known for the diverse crowd it attracts, from families to partygoers to even LA’s most sought after. I personally had the chance to go for the 3 day event this year, and saw everyone from the Red Hott Chili Peppers, to the Wu Tang Clan, even Bat for Lashes, Dogblood and Eric Prydz.. Let me tell you though this doesn't even begin to cover the amount of diverse artists I saw. Besides the music, I felt surrounded by some incredible style, dressing for Coachella is an experience in itself,. My wardrobe some of my favorites Gypsy 05, Free People, Wildfox Couture, and a few vintage pieces I have picked up over the previous years. (continued. on next page)

The Second large festival in California that is just around the corner is San Francisco’s Outside Lands, located in the heart of the city in Golden Gate Park. To me this may be one of the most incredible festivals of them all. Golden Gate park has everything from beautiful meadows to some of the most amazing vegetation. Two of my favorite things about Outside Lands is that the weather being a little bit cooler, means that the festival goer can dress in more layers and get a little more creative with what you choose to wear, the second factor is being able to walk around Outside Lands with beer and wine, unlike Coachella where you are restricted to 21 and up spots, this means you can choose the spot you want to listen from. The final large festival, is also located in San Francisco, on Treasure Island in the middle of the Bay Bridge. The Treasure Island Music Festival is only in its 5th year, however it continues to impress me more each year. At this festival you have the opportunity to experience the host place for the 1915 World Fair, the island was manmade for this spectacular event almost 100 years ago. My top advice for this festival is to take the time and ride the Ferris Wheel, the view you will have at the top will have you yearning to come back and make more memories the following year. These pictures taken by Casey Fyfe in San Francisco, show you a taste to the many styles and outfits you’ll see at these wonderful music festivals. However don’t forget the best part is arriving in style, so be bold and wear something you might normally stray from. XOXO Noelle Lynne of BetseyLynne Style

Thrift Finds By Noelle of Betsey Lynne Style

The most common question I get, is “Why do I Thrift”, the answer is simple. I thrift because it is the most environmentally conscious way to shop, Not only is it good for our beautiful planet, however it is also amazing on your environmental footprint and wallet.. In the following pages you will see only clothing ,shoes, and accessories, bought from secondhand stores or a thrift stores. Not a single item was over a $100, and I scored some amazing items including a Rebecca Taylor sweater, Jeffery Campbell Heels, an Equipment Femme blouse, and a couple other beautiful finds. Another question I commonly receive, is “How do I clean used clothing and shoes?” Clothing is simple, I have found two choices of cleaning and refreshing clothing. (Tip: I never by clothing with stains, the risk it wont come out is to great) 1. Wash what you can in standard washer before wearing. or 2. Take Dry Clean Only Clothing to an environmentally safe dry cleaners Shoes however can be a bit on the trickier side, and in our culture considered even more dirty then clothing. So here are my top tricks for cleaning and disinfecting used shoes. 1. Pour Hydrogen Peroxide into your new but slightly used shoes and let sit 5 minutes. 2. Spray the inside of your shoes with antibacterial spray. I suggest seventh generation or another environmentally safe company. 3. Place shoes into an airtight plastic bag and leave in your freezer overnight, this kills fungus and eliminates odor. Hopefully these cleaning tips help to motivate you to get out there and search for some amazing finds. I can 100% say, there is no better shopping feeling then the one that leaves no impact on the earth and actually benefits the environment.
