Labeling a product organic or natural often falsely implies quality. We must take the initiative; read labels, ask questions, use the Internet. Doctors focus little on prevention. The pharmaceutical industry spends billions promoting drugs while discouraging time tested therapies that cure – alternative medicines, herbals and botanicals. Remember the sicker we get the richer big Pharma gets. Patients tell me, my vitamin D is 30, normal, I don’t need any. Drug representatives present false conclusions drawn on flawed studies to doctors. One such study concluded vitamin D supplementation was not beneficial - patients with a slight deficiency were treated to a level of 30, “normal” and health didn’t improve. Although 30 and above are considered normal levels, abundant respected clinical studies show that a level of 80 decreases cancer risk by 87%, asthma attacks by more than 80%, not to mention it can prevent the common cold. Two facts are clear, normal frequently isn’t good enough and Big Pharma hates preventative medicine. What we call normal blood sugar, based on population average is far too high and keeps going up directly
causing our lifespan to go down. I was a normal American, my blood was in the range, I was overweight, always tired, and gobbled Advil for aches and pains. I didn’t dine, I shoveled food then nodded out watching TV yet still bedtime sleep was a mess. Today I require my doctor to treat my “harmful normals”; at 60 my hormones, vitamins and minerals are balanced, and I feel great. I practice evidence-based medicine backed by hundreds of thousands of clinical trials and studies. Bioidentical is a specific, trustworthy term; Bioidentical hormones are the exact identical molecule normally functioning in the body. When we replenish inadequate levels to a more youthful value, patients’ look and feel better, they enjoy improved sleep, energy and quality of life. They live a lot longer as well. Prevention of cancer - Billions of cells make up our body and when one cell dies, DNA replicates and a new cell replaces the old, it’s truly a miracle. When a mistake in replication occurs our immune system attacks and destroys. In reality these mistakes are cancers and our immune cells gobble them up every day. Rundown immunity increases cancer risk, that’s a fact. These miracles need our help, namely optimal hormones, vitamins, minerals, quality food, and exercise. Extra weight is a huge threat, the genetics don’t
change but the extra fat generates inflammation which impedes immunity. Be proactive, take action and enhance fitness; start with a good multivitamin, extra vitamin D, fish oil and a probiotic. Membrane disruptors - Microwaves from our electronics and plastic we absorb from containers do break up cell membranes. Manufacturers we trust assure us these toxins are safe. Take B12 for example, a dose every day is great advice, but beware. Most multivitamins and perhaps every B12 shot given in doctors’ offices or hospitals contain cyanocobalamin. It’s a form of B12 that’s cheap and doesn’t need refrigeration, but it’s banned from my office. It will convert to methylcobalamin, our body’s natural form when ingested, but the process breaks off a cyanide ion, the poison James Bond swallows when captured. The manufacturer assures us it can’t hurt, it’s only a little cyanide – a little microwaves, a little plastic, a little cyanide – do they think we are that stupid?
