“We need to find the best route for our works”

Land support for electricity line dismantlement We can provide optioneering advice for new infrastructure; and/or refurbishment for existing assets

Fisher German were instructed to provide Lands support in relation to the dismantlement of an 33kv electricity line originally installed in the 1960’s. This comprised of negotiating access to 57 towers across numerous different land ownerships and land uses from Spondon to Ratcliffe power station in south Derbyshire. Fisher German worked alongside third party contactors as well as landowners to successfully remove all towers and foundations from agricultural land, two marinas, a golf course and Industrial site as well as agreeing works with acquiring authorities over the canals and within the flood plain. Due to the variety of land uses it was vital to ensure all parties were aware of the full extent of the works, how businesses would be impacted and ways in which losses could be mitigated in order to reduce the impact on the landowners and increase in claim for Fisher German’s client.

“Scheme affects multiple land uses” We are experts in all property sectors, enabling us to provide tailored, comprehensive advice, including on compensation management

Key Benefits Successfully fulfilling the client’s objectives and removing assets that have reached the end of their usable life.

Obstacles The marinas and golf course provided challenging working environments for the contractors. Fisher German worked with the client and landowners to ensure all issues were highlighted and risks mitigated to allow for a successful project delivery. The tower based on the marina was located on an island suspended in the water and clear communication was required from the team in order to ensure no damage was caused to residential boats moored to the island. Equally as important was ensuring the ground conditions were left in the same condition when crossing the greens and fairways along the golf course to reduce the client’s exposure to compensation liability and damage to their reputation.

Added Value • Project completion with reduced compensation verses estimates originally provided to client. • Developed good relationship with landowners throughout project to ensure all access agreeable and maintained throughout works. • A bility to reference using GIS team for ease of identifying any difficult sites to access and obtain all appropriate information needed to liaise with landowners.

“It was great to work with such a diverse range of landowners and manage the challenges that come with obtaining access for works of this nature. We were very pleased to be able to work with the contractors to complete the project, maintaining our clients great reputation” Lucy Whitaker
