Seller Insight Set in a leafy and desirable village with a woodland backdrop and an excellent degree of privacy. Lower Crook has been the cherished home of the Morris family for 16 years and dates back to 1865 with original fireplaces and sash windows; lovingly extended over time to provide a spacious family home that stays true to the origins of the house yet offers the modern day luxuries that busy families rely on. “It was the lovely garden that first attracted us to Lower Crook; backing onto the woodland meant that it was very private with a beautiful outlook. The south facing position ensured garden enjoyed the best of the day’s sun. Our girls were only young at the time and I was delighted to find a house with plenty of safe, outside space for them to play. We also need to be within comfortable commuting distance to London for my husband Kevin’s work,” explains Sally. We love to entertain and the kitchen is where we tend to gather long after the meal is finished, in fact there have been many occasions when a pleasant lunch with friends has continued straight through into a more sociable evening. We really enjoy cooking and when all the family return home for Christmas the kitchen allows both Kevin and I to work together to prepare a festive feast for everyone. Although the house was big with lovely spacious rooms we decided to extend the kitchen and utility room. There is a lovely flow between the kitchen and dining room, and as the dining room is part of the original house; we wanted to capture the essence of the home and complement the original features. I worked closely with the kitchen designer and was delighted with the combination of oak units and granite work surfaces, but it was the generous and practical central-island that completed the look I had wanted. The garden has evolved over time and what was once a charming playground for our daughters is now a more mature and tranquil space with apple and bay trees, hedges and honeysuckle, with rosemary, parsley, thyme and oregano which I regularly add to enhance the flavour of a wholesome family diner. The patio runs the length of the house and there are French doors into the kitchen and living room connecting the home and garden seamlessly. I also love the rich seasonal blossoms and changing colours of the Acer to the front of the house. * * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. Step inside Lower Crook

Built in 1865, the original part of this lovely family home was once a simple farmworkers cottage. Over the years the house has been sympathetically extended to provide a wonderful space for a family to grow. The extended kitchen/breakfast room has been finished to a high specification and has a wonderful island unit with pop up sockets and room for two stools beneath the breakfast bar. The outlook is lovely with oak framed doors and windows leading out onto the garden. There is also a formal dining room and a cosy lounge with a fantastic inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove. In addition there is a study, utility and downstairs cloakroom. The double garage is accessed from the internal hallway and you have separate stairs leading upto the garage room, which could be a teenagers den, studio, office or gym. Set in a secluded semi-rural setting on the edge of the village of Brenchley, you have south facing gardens with mature planting and a good sized patio, all enclosed and backs onto woodland. Parking will never be an issue as you can fit 3 to 4 cars on the front driveway, plus there is an additional parking space to the rear of the garden, as well as the double garage with electric doors. Brenchley itself is located just off the A21 between Horsmonden and Matfield. The area is full of history and has a pretty church dating back to 1233, as well a few village shops. The nearest mainline train station is Paddock Wood, with Tunbridge Wells around 7 miles away.
