Seller Insight Beautifully decorated throughout, the house has been updated by the current owners. “I love the island that we added to the kitchen and the surfaces which just sparkle when the light catches them, but the area we have worked hardest on has been the garden. We collaborated with the landscapers to really make the most of the views and to be sympathetic with the surroundings. We are extremely lucky to get sunshine from dawn until dusk.” Placed on the so-called Ridge, the property lies 132 feet above sea level, in a highly prestigious and well kept development of just 23 exclusive properties over a stretch of half a mile. The house boasts outstanding elevated vistas across to the English Channel and Beachy Head. “You just get lost in these amazing views,” says the current owner. “A neighbour used to say that entering Ore Place was like entering an oasis and I think she hit the nail on the head.” One of the most sought after areas of Hastings, historic Ore Place was originally the site of a former manor house and remains part of a conservation area comprising 100 acres of woodland and parkland. Though located on the outskirts of town, it offers easy access to local coastal beauty spots, esteemed state and private schools and excellent transport links. “There are many National Trust properties and lovely little towns such as Rye and Tenterden all within a very easy drive, and of course you can easily hop on a bus to Eastbourne” says the current owner. “You have got countryside and beaches right on your doorstep - there are some really lovely walks nearby as well as nature reserves, which is what started our love of bird watching. There is so much to do whatever your age or interest.” Hastings itself is an historic and pretty place, loved for its old-fashioned aesthetic and seaside charm, and boasts a rich cultural calendar. “The Old Town really is lovely with its wonderful mix of restaurants, coffee shops, artisan bakeries and boutiques, plus you’re able to buy fresh fish straight from the fishermen on the beach. The newly renovated pier is lovely to promenade on and of course there is the Jerwood gallery,” says the current owner. “I spend a lot of the time at the kitchen sink and it is just wonderful being able to look out of the window over to Normans Bay” says the current owner. “However, my favourite room would be the bedroom, with the pleasure of waking up & either seeing the boats on the water or the snow on the downs - every day is different!. We get sun all day long, coming up at the front of the house and setting at the back. We all have our favourite parts of the garden: my husband liked the bench on the top terrace, whereas my daughter loves the ‘Italian’ garden. My own favourite is the patio just by the meadow as it is perfect from morning coffee right through to a well-earned G&T in the evening! We have had 18 years of happy retirement and family life here; all the Christmases, birthdays, summer barbecues come rain or shine, watching the Eastbourne Air Show from the garden far too many memories to pick just one!”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. Set in the grounds of the ruined medieval church of St Helens and the site of former Victorian Manor House of Ore Place (which served in its time as a Jesuit Seminary where Teilhard de Chardin, scientist and theologian, was its most famous student, then later as an Army Record Office before being demolished). The property is approached by a tree lined avenue and is set on a beautiful spot well back from the road, with amazing distant sea views towards Beachy Head at the rear. The exclusive development was built by well known local builder Steed Developments and is well laid out and was sold as Hastings premier address!

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with over 100 acres of conservation woodland and parkland to the rear, the development was built to be one of the most sought after locations within Hastings.
