A large covered square. This is the basic principle on which our project is drawn. The need for shadow is the first necessity for an architecture ready to bring people together in the warm of Senegal land. A cavity covered by a large straw veil. Forty pillars draw the two levels of the structure: a ground level - a ring in continuity with the outside where to circulate around - and an underground level where space is public, shared, with the possibility of becoming an intimate, a niche, by subdividing it with light and movable textile’s screens. The large straw covering, raised from the zero point and perforated in its center - lets filter the sun light, creating different and striking texture on the floor at different times of the day. A water basin, the true sacred center of the project, reflects the symbol of every religion: the sky. Light, stars, clouds, nature, are the elements shared by all humans and, consequently, in all religions. An architecture that communicates its being part of heaven and earth.
