Leah Jackson, the owner of Sleek Avenue Hair Salon in Nottingham Road at the Sherwood Centre, has had a blast sharing her passion and talent as a hairdresser with the local community. She established the salon in December 2020 and strives to offer the best personal hair care service at affordable pricing for a range of clients. “I aim to leave my customers feeling unique and authentic,” she says.

Leah started her hairdressing journey when she was 19 years old. She moved to Pietermaritzburg and enrolled at a beauty training school that taught her all the required skills such as cutting, styling, and colouring. She has worked at various salons in the Midlands where she gained confidence and eventually had the opportunity to freelance on her own, which attracted returning clients. “The continued support I had received inspired me to open up my own hair salon to expand my talents and passion for hair.”

The salon space sports tranquil green and grey walls, which fit well with the minimalistic style of the interior, whilst not taking away from its cosy and inviting ambience. Whilst sitting on the couch as you wait for your haircut, you can also enjoy the greenery of the view outside. It has the perfect atmosphere for when you need to escape the world for an hour or two to take some quality care of yourself.

Many of Leah and her team’s services cater to special occasions such as weddings and matric dances, which can be done at the salon or right at the venue for your convenience. They always make sure you leave you feeling elegant and well taken care of before the function, including nails and make-up on request.
