EUROPRO TOUR HUNTING FOR BIG FINISH AT

‘THE AUGUSTA OF THE NORTH’

4

www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

NEWS

S

laley Hall has been handed an unexpected opportunity to end the season in style after being chosen to host the grand finale of Europe’s leading developmental golf tour, the PGA EuroPro Tour. The 2021 Matchroom Tour Championship, which was originally scheduled to be held at Club de Golf Alcanada, Mallorca, will now take place on Slaley Hall’s renowned Hunting Course from October 20-22. A challenging test, the Northumberland course is well-known for its tree-lined fairways and undulating greens and includes the likes of Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie and Retief Goosen among its illustrious list of previous winners. Often referred to as the “Augusta of the North”, Slaley Hall – which is part of The QHotels Group – is the ideal replacement host for the Tour Championship, as the EuroPro Tour delays its visit to Mallorca until 2022. Daniel Godding, PGA EuroPro Tour CEO, said: "We are exceptionally sad not to be visiting the wonderful coastline of Mallorca and the phenomenal venue that is Alcanada in 2021. We thank Alcanada for all the preparations they have made to welcome us, and we look forward to visiting the golf course in 2022. "We are delighted to be offering such a highprofile course and one of the UK’s best golf venues for this year's tournament." Managed by The QHotels Group, the UK’s largest golf resort operator, Slaley Hall is considered one of the best courses in

the North of England, with its spectacular surroundings and fantastic facilities. Set in 1,000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest, the venue boasts a magnificent four-star hotel in an elegant Edwardian mansion, with two challenging championship courses – the Hunting and the Priestman – which have played host to no fewer than 18 European Tour and European Senior Tour events. The 7,000-yard, par-72 Hunting Course, designed by Dave Thomas, has lush sweeping fairways, streams, lakes, towering trees, and banks of rhododendrons – but aesthetics aside, it will catch out the unwary. Well-placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard course a real challenge. The Priestman Course was designed by Neil Coles and opened in 1999. Beautifully maintained, the course has matured magnificently. It sits on the west side of the estate, with panoramic views of the Tyne Valley and some daunting water features, and wind can be a factor on a course which hosts regularly European seniors’ events. The QHotels Group manages seven top golf resorts in England and Scotland: Belton Woods, in Grantham, Lincolnshire; Dunston Hall, in Norwich; Oulton Hall, Leeds; Slaley Hall, Northumberland; Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, in Shropshire; DoubleTree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa & Golf Resort, in Brigg; and DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort. www.slaleyhallhotel.com www.qhotels.co.uk/golf www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

INTERVIEW

ANDY N I E T S D GOL 12

www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

OR #JL AMBASSAD

J.Lindeberg Ambassador Andy Goldstein is a British television presenter and radio broadcaster currently working for talkSPORT. He presented Soccer AM on Saturday mornings, succeeding Tim Lovejoy in 2004. We caught up with Andy to find about about his passion for golf and fashion. If we are right in describing you as one of the world's leading "shock jocks" (and to be fair you have many more talents) do you have an idol you would rate the all-time "king of shock jocks"?  I love the way Chris Evans broadcasts, not just on radio but TV as well. Jonathan Ross has been a favourite of mine since I can remember, and I use to make an appointment to listen to Ricky Gervais when he was on XFM. When Jason Cundy did not show up for an interview, you announced his death and you falsely accused Rio Ferdinand of having a fake twitter account. Do either of them still speak to you?

Why overall does the JL style appeal to you?   Because I feel they’re always pushing the envelope and taking it to another level which appeals to a much younger funkier audience where in the past various golfing brands have been stuck in the dark ages. What made you start wearing JL clothing?  I’ve always worn JL clothes before, I’ve had suits and coats but when I took up golf again my pal bought me a JL top and I was sold on it from then.

The Cundy situation was terrible… I obviously said it as a joke but it was early on in my career and didn’t realise that people dip in and out of the radio rather than listen to your every word. It got to a stage where fans of his laid flowers outside Stamford Bridge and his parents got calls from friends offering their condolences. I apologised the next day on air and privately to his parents and nearly lost my job over it . . . But 13 years later we’re still working together 4 nights a week so I think he’s forgiven me now! …And of course, Rio loves me now! Which showbiz/non-showbiz pals do you enjoy playing golf with most?  I play mainly with my pals who are my level…. I played with Jamie O’hara a few weeks ago who was amazing (he plays off 7) and I played with Jimmy Bullard years ago for Soccer Am and he was equally annoying. How long have you played golf?  I played years ago and never took it seriously, but I started again last July now I’ve got the bug back like never before and I can’t get enough. Are you a member at a golf club and what is your handicap?   Yeah, I’m a member at West Essex and I play off 28. What’s your first memory of JL in golf?   I’m a huge fan of clothes and I remember seeing how innovative their golfing clothing brand was and still is. www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

13

INTERVIEW

The golf shot you love the most?  The perfect drive. Who is your favourite sports personality?  I have a few. Bryan Robson as a kid was my idol. As was Jimmy White. And the funniest?  Jimmy’s become a close friend over the years and is just amazing to hang out with. Best joke you have heard lately?  I can’t tell you the joke because it’s too rude, but it ends with the punchline – “Well, it didn’t taste like a prawn” Would you encourage families to play golf, if so, how can clubs contribute to such growth?  Even more so now with what’s going on in the world. Getting outside for 4/5 hours is amazing. Nothing beats it. You also learn a lot about people on the course and obviously nothing beats competing against (and beating) your family! Where do you live?  Why you want to know? Are you a copper? And your most dreaded or toughest?  Changes with every round. At the moment my short game is terrible. Favourite golf course and why?  I’ve not played that many as of yet, so I’d have to say mine by miles!

#JL AMBASSADOR 14

www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

What’s the funniest thing ever happened to you on a golf course?   When I was just about to get my first ever birdy (3ft putt) I got my phone out and asked my brother-inlaw to film me. Obviously, I missed and then missed the par putt too!

AN ICONIC EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED AT

CLEEVE HILL B

ased in the heart of the Cotswolds, the golf course at Cleeve Hill is steeped in history and ranked in the top 100 English Golf Courses. Designed by Old Tom Morris aand later adapted by Dr Alistair Mackenzie, Cleeve’s stunning surroundings resemble some of Scotland’s oldest and finest links courses and boasts views over Cheltenham and out towards the Black Mountains in Wales. Threatened with closure last year, The Cotswold Hub Co, in partnership with MASHIE Golf, took on the 125-year lease back in April to allow the Club to remain open. MASHIE Golf and The Cotswold Hub Co were keen to provide continuity for Cleeve’s existing members and to ensure the Club thrives by redeveloping the site to provide more facilities for all users of the Hill including lodge accommodation, restaurant and new pro shop with café. Plans also include improving the standards of the golf course to encourage membership growth from the local area, something Nick Hovey, Managing Director of MASHIE Golf and Co-Founder of The

Cotswold Hub Co feels will be the heartbeat of the club for many years to come. In addition, MASHIE Golf established its UK Headquarters at Cleeve, bringing its team and a wealth of golf experience with it. MASHIE Golf has further supported the Club by opening the course to its own members and bringing additional green fees, corporate clients, and events to the venue. While our look has changed, our commitment and service to providing you with an unbelievable golf experience, hasn’t! We are looking forward to our new journey and look forward to you joining us. We hope that you will agree this makeover signals exciting times for all involved at Cleeve Hill Golf Club. J.LINDEBERG ‘AIM HIGHER’ WITH FW21 The Fall Winter 2021 collection from J.Lindeberg takes another big step into the future as a pioneering leader in golf wear. The collection is part of the concept ‘Aim Higher’, and continues around the theme of lightness, while offering a more sustainable choice. ‘Aim Higher’ is defined by three main stories: Gradient Tech™, Active Mesh™ and The Elements™. Building on the sensations from Spring Summer 2021, it has been updated with above-the-cut styles for top performance. The collection is the first designed by Neil Lewty, Head of Design, who was recruited in August 2020 from Hugo Boss Sportswear. ‘With this collection, we aim to inspire. We’ve taken our best performing pieces and extended its technical features’, says Lewty. ‘Similar to our fashion line, the golf collection presents contrasting fabrics, neutral and strong bright colors, and refined techniques to adapt to our surroundings while always adding a layer of aspirational design. Lighter weight, improved ventilation with mesh detailing are all integrated in pieces which hold up to the elements. SWITZERLAND

TEE OFF WITH AN

ALPINE VIEW Switzerland’s Engadine Valley is a perennially popular destination to enjoy a round or two of golf while also providing the option to experience a range of wellness activities in the fresh Alpine air, against a backdrop of some of the country’s most majestic mountain and lakeside scenery.

28

www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

S

witzerland announced recently that it would welcome double jabbed visitors, which makes the Engadine the perfect place to escape to this summer – especially now that the UK government has announced that travellers who are fully vaccinated will no longer have to self-isolate on return to England from amber list countries such as Switzerland. Golf has long been associated with the Engadine. The historic 9-hole course at the Kulm Golf St Moritz was created in 1891 and was one of the first layouts in Switzerland, established for the benefit of the many British guests who decamped to the region for extended summer sojourns during the Victorian era. This year, on 1st August, Kulm Golf will be celebrating 120 years since it held its first official golf tournament in 1901. Comprised solely of par 3s, the course is set in a unique location 1,860 metres above sea level (one of the highest in Europe) dipping and diving between towering pine trees, the iconic Olympia Bob Run and the former Olympic Stadium, which makes it both physically challenging and hugely picturesque with stunning vistas over Lake St Moritz and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. In addition to this short course, the Engadine Golf Club has two very different 18-hole courses – Samedan and Zuoz-Madulain, which are just a 10- and 20-minute drive respectively from St Moritz. Established in 1893 as the first 18-hole golf course in Switzerland, Samedan is a classic parkland course

Engadine Golf Club

with something of a links feel to it courtesy of several gently undulating fairways and sloping greens. Set www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

29

SWITZERLAND amongst ancient larches on the valley floor, the rolling terrain combines with a host of water hazards to ensure a challenging round of golf despite its forgiving broad fairways and modest rough. Nearby Zuoz-Madulain, almost always simply referred to as Zuoz, opened much later in 2003. Designed by the revered Canadian golf course architect Les Furber, Zuoz is very different to Samedan. Laid out on the side of the mountains flanked on one side by natural thick pine forest, this course provides a tricky combination of elevation changes, sloping fairways and testy greens. Like golf, the health benefits and restorative powers of a stay in the Engadine have a long association; St. Moritz may now be better known as a glitzy winter resort, but it owes its original popularity to its healing spas with their iron-rich spring waters that date back almost 3,500 years and became popular places of pilgrimage during the Middle Ages. The Kulm Hotel St. Moritz (www. kulm.com) has built on this tradition, creating an extensive destination spa that makes an ideal base for a wellness break in the Engadine. The Kulm Spa St. Moritz offers a range of facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools (with hydrotherapy features), steams and saunas, a relaxation room and Kneipp path, as well as treatment rooms for detoxification and regeneration therapies, and private grounds for simply relaxing on a lounger while soaking up the stunning panoramic views. For those who prefer to get active in the great outdoors, there are multiple, easily accessible opportunities to hike, trail run and bike in the mountains, as well as to swim, standup paddle board, sail and kitesurf on the various lakes of the Engadine valley. After a day of golf and wellness, the hotel has multiple bars and restaurants where guests can rehydrate, refuel and re-energise in readiness for another day’s exertions on and off the course. 30

GOLF BREAKS PACKAGE The Kulm Hotel’s ‘Golf Break’ package starts from CHF 1,240 (approx. £975) per person sharing a double room for a minimum of two nights, including: - 2 or 3 nights, including sumptuous breakfast buffet and daily Gourmet Dine Around (halfboard) - Complimentary green fees at the 9-hole Kulm Golf Course St. Moritz - 1 complimentary green fee on the 18-hole Samedan or Zuoz / Madulain golf courses - From the 4th night, the green fees at Samedan or Zuoz / Madulain golf courses are complimentary - unlimited access to the Kulm Spa St. Moritz - unlimited use of the hotel’s tennis courts - unlimited use of all open mountain railways in the Engadine St. Moritz region and public transportation in the valley (bus and Rhaetian railway) Reservations can be made by phone on +41 81 836 80 00 or by e-mail on reservations@kulm.com.

Nine courses at seven clubs in the region add to the variety, with some of those detailed in our previous issue (CLICK HERE). GOLF COSTA BRAVA

T

he swinging 60s was where it all started for golf in Costa Brava as two courses opened their doors for the first time.

Located in Santa Cristina d’Aro, there is stunning natural scenery, ancient trees and plenty of clever design going on with this array of holes.

Golf de Pals takes the honour as the first course but Golf Costa Brava was actually established as the first club in 1962, although the course opened six years later in 1968. A nine-hole extension was then added to the mix in 2014 to create a 27-hole venue with interchangeable loops.

While those ancient trees add some real character to the experience, you might occasionally curse their existence – especially those which are inconveniently located in the middle of fairways – one of the many interesting and uniquely quirky characteristics of Golf Costa Brava.

As a result, there is plenty of choice on offer with a Green course and a Red course to choose from.

Those imposing, umbrella-shaped pines are surprisingly easy to hit and can cause havoc with your hole strategy as you attempt to find an alternative route to the flag – sometimes with disastrous consequences!

The Green course is the original design, dating back to 1962 as the first nine holes run over the gentle slope of the hill, between the houses in the residential complex and the second part, on flatter terrain, runs towards the Vall d’Aro. The Red course includes the second part of the green one plus the new holes opened in 2014, designed by Jorge Soler Peix and with plenty of water throughout the course. The tradition and modern mix well and one of the most authentic clubhouses in the region, dating back to 1841, has already shown how the right blend can be found after it was converted from a farmhouse and now offers a fabulous setting to enjoy after the round.

Designer: John Hamilton Stutt Opened: 1968 Green Course Par: 70 (White: 5600m, Yellow: 5452m, Red: 4710m) 34

But as you find your way into the round and understand the notion of switching your club selection to avoid these glorious, natural obstacles, you begin to find your way to understanding how golf is not all about power and distance.

CLUB GOLF D’ARO MAS NOU

I

n life, there are always highs and lows. In Costa Brava, when you want to experience the high life, you visit Club Golf d’Aro Mas Nou. From its lofty position – 300m above sea level – the views are mesmerising from the Gavarres mountains and down towards the resort of Platjo D’Aro and the Costa Brava coastline.

The course is full of ravines and gorges as it weaves its way through a mix of pine, olive trees and cork oak, with enough magnificent backdrops of coastal vistas and mountains to fill up anyone’s Instagram account. But the real aim of the game here is to keep the ball on the fairway at all costs, because anything offline is likely to result in a reload. It’s fair to suggest that many golf balls will never be seen again with an inaccurate drive at the wrong time, but there is plenty more trouble waiting with two lakes, while you’ll do well to carry a web of wasteland and shrubbery on the parthree 11th – at 209-yards long, it is one of few holes where distance is paramount.

Opened in 1990 and host of the Catalan Open in 1992 (when Jose Rivero beat a field which also contained Jose-Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke), there has been significant investment in recent times with many of the bunkers remodelled and a continued push towards environmental sustainability. It’s a course with resident natural wildlife also playing a key part of the experience and occasionally wandering into view unexpectedly in the shape of wild boar, which have been known to stroll across the fairways in search of their next snack. Regular yoga classes take place to add to the abundant air of relaxation and nature, which encompasses the venue’s philosophy. And it’s just a few minutes’ drive back down that winding road to great hotels, beaches and the real world once again.

Even the journey to the course is memorable in itself as your transport makes the climb and once you’ve reached the clubhouse and the first tee, the golf course does not fail to impress.

GOLF DE PALS

P

icture a golf course which stands just a few hundred metres away from the ocean and you’d imagine you might know about it.

The sound of waves? The smell of the Mediterranean? The general hub of beach activities? Forget it.

At Golf de Pals, the natural canopy of umbrella pines creates its own world as you attempt to plot your way through one of many narrow tree-lined corridors to find a green. Opened in 1966, Pals was designed by acclaimed architect, Fred Hawtree, and was quickly elevated to professional tournament host status as the venue for the Spanish Open in 1972. Although professional events tend to require rather more space these days, Golf de Pals is still used for high-profile amateur events. As the venue for the Spanish Amateur Championships (1970, 1994 and 2002), Women’s Amateur Championships (2000 and 2010) and the Spanish Professional Championships in 1984 and 2002, the course has become a firm favourite, especially for its attention to accuracy and strategy. As you might expect, placement is all-important on this course with a chip out sideways often required for an errant tee shot. Doglegs are also a prominent feature but the back nine does allow for a little more freedom to give the driver a taste of the action.

But while its traditions have been recognised recently with the award of the 2020 Plaque of Merit in Golf by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, there is now an extra fresh feel with a new pro shop and some key improvements to the course in recent times. The ranch-style clubhouse has retained its charm, with a fabulous terrace area, sheltered by pines. The sweeping fourth is a stand-out hole with the pin a mere speck in the distance, inviting you to find a path between a steep wall of pines. The 6th is also easy on the eye, a 165-yard par 3 that drops down to an oval-shaped green protected by three strategically placed bunkers. Undercook your iron and you could be hacking out of a bunker for some time. While it’s not a brute of a course, technical, accurate golfers will prosper and it’s a memorable experience. And for those looking to kick back on the beach after the round, the adjacent La Costa Beach & Golf Resort is the doorway to both the course and the beach. You may not realise it from the course, but it is just a few steps away.

GUALTA PAR 3 PITCH & PUTT

A

round of golf can sometimes be quite an undertaking when there is so much else to do with your time in such a fantastic region. But there is another way to create some extra time for those other activities and still enjoy a great round. Gualta – ranked as the number one par-three course in Spain by Leading Courses – holes range from around 70m to 120m, wind their way through narrow corridors of trees, over lakes and boast proper bunkers and excellent greens. The general course maintenance is as impressive as most of the other courses in the region – the only difference is the holes are shorter.

Admittedly, those who prefer to crush the driver at any given opportunity may not be able to unleash their full power at Gualta. But for experienced golfers, it’s a fantastic way to sharpen up the wedge and short-iron play. It’s also a great chance to introduce less experienced golfers from the group or family to the game. With no handicap requirements and a far more relaxed vibe on dress codes, it allows the focus to shift towards simply having fun for a couple of hours.

Perhaps a key attraction for the shortened version of the game is that you can play 18 holes in about two hours – a big tick for anyone who may have found themselves left feeling frustrated at a fivehour slog you might sometimes experience on the continent. But the European version of ‘pitch and putt’ is a very different proposition to pop-up holiday golf you might find in a seaside town in the UK. Gualta is considered to be the best of around 20 par-three courses in the region with Club de Golf Peralada and Club Golf d’Aro Mas Nou also boasting excellent short courses to complement their own Championship courses.

PGA CATALUNYA

The jewel in the crown of Costa Brava’s golf stable

38

N

ot just the jewel in the crown of Costa Brava’s golf stable, PGA Catalunya is rated by many as the best in Spain and often features in the top bracket when it comes to Europe’s elite. While the plot of land was originally earmarked for the construction of an F1 Grand Prix track, thankfully, the focus switched and it became a potential site for a purpose-built venue for the Ryder Cup in 1997. Designed by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo, the complex retains obvious stature and oozes that extra element of attention to detail that separates the top clubs from the rest, including an impressive clubhouse, designer shop and a spectacular practice facility. The 130-bay driving range combines with a huge shortgame area, which features five practice bunkers.

39

There are simply no excuses here if you want to work on your game. Indeed, it has hosted European Tour Q School where the annual battle for European Tour cards takes place, so represents the kind of challenge to get the very best from professionals. There are two outstanding courses to choose from: The Stadium course and the Tour course. It’s fair to suggest that the Stadium course mixes moments of sheer beauty with golfing brutality – especially if the wind is in play. The real test is a combination of strategy and power as it snakes through dense woodland and is the ultimate test from the back tees. Of course, there are other tees to play from for those who prefer a more sedate experience, rather than putting yourself through the golfing grinder. It’s a true test of your skills and for many, that is the kind of battle to relish and embrace.

40

www.exclusivegolfandtravel.co.uk

As you may expect, there are several highlights with elevated tee shots which require some laser-like accuracy to be threaded through fragrant pines, furs and purple heather. Finding the fairway takes on added importance as you realise every green is guarded by bunkers, water or both. Even when you do hit the green, lightningfast surfaces and some serious slopes will examine every aspect of your putting stroke. Large lakes will greedily swallow plenty of golf balls, especially at the par-four 11th, one of two stunning island greens. The second can be found on the signature par-four 13th, which presents a glorious view of Montseny Massif. You’ll need a long carry to the fairway and to avoid a heavily wooded area on your left. This gives you the best chance of making the approach to the green and avoiding the water. As well as a healthy supply of golf balls, the Stadium course requires that you are

carrying plenty of courage with you as well. The Tour course, stands up to scrutiny just as effectively, but should not leave your game in tatters in quite the way the Stadium course can. It is kinder to golfers, more forgiving with its bunker placement and far more playable for those golfers who may not ever reach the standard of a single-figure handicap. But while it is more generous than its big brother, don’t expect an easy ride here either. The Tour course allows players far more opportunity to recover from wayward drives and approaches and the greens are generally not as undulating and difficult to read as on the Stadium Course. But there are also several spectacular holes waiting for you, with water in play regularly and cleverly-positioned bunkers guarding fairways and greens throughout the round. Over the past two decades, PGA Catalunya Resort has evolved into one of Europe’s top resorts with two hotels – Hotel Camiral and Lavida Hotel – and residential developments, which make for a superb break to enjoy the nearby activities and facilities, while the

GOLF DAYS

ENHANCE YOUR GOLF DAY WITH A TRIP TO THE MASTERS

Golf day organisers, especially corporates and charities are looking for something that makes their event stand out from other golf days and that's exactly what happens when they say they are giving everyone a chance to win a trip to The Masters + $1,000,000 as a prize. Other UK courses are increasing their golf day bookings by leveraging our risk-free combined Hole In

One + prize draw within one of their golf day package options. The majority of courses we speak to simply say they can't see a downside to them offering it as its risk-free revenue given there is no minimum number of players per event and no pre-play approval process. BRITISH GOLFERS STILL WANT TO TRAVEL TO PLAY GOLF A recent survey of UK golfers shows that six in ten (62%) are planning to holiday abroad this year, and just over 44% plan to travel just to play golf. Only 25% said they would not travel because of the cost of multiple PCR tests. The survey was carried out among the 65,000 members of the Million Dollar Masters Club - a course-side competition which gives golfers the chance to play in Portugal and the UK to win $1m and a trip the US Masters.

Neil Fullbrook, Marketing Director at Million Dollar Masters Club said: “It’s an encouraging sign for the travel sector that golfers are keen to get travelling again. Our team in Portugal has been quiet for this entire season, but there has been a sharp increase in the number of golfers booking tee times across the 19 courses on which we operate and we are seeing a positive uplift in activity”. The Million Dollar Masters Club

competition, ia a par-three courseside game in which golfers attempt to get a hole in one. It’s recent launch in the UK has been met with enthusiasm by courses across the country who recognise that it’s a great addition to a charity golf day or tournament. “ The UK course-side game is a game changer. It creates a little bit more of a competitive element to an otherwise ordinary round” adds Fullbrook.

GOING THE DISTANCE

WE’RE ABOUT TO IMPROVE YOUR GAME. EVEN MORE THAN LAST TIME. It’s what we’re all about. Innovations that help you take your game to the next level. Peak performance starts with having the right ball. And if you’re a player that could use more distance and forgiveness, then the 10th Generation AD333 is what you’ve been waiting for. By dropping our compression from 77 to 72, the 10th Generation AD333 promotes more deformation of the ball at impact for players with moderate swing speeds. In plain English, that means straighter and longer flight. Also, this means prolonged contact on short Irons and Wedges for the best feel of any AD333 model to date. The 10th Generation AD333 shares technology with our tour-validated Z-STAR Series, but it’s, packaged into a two-piece ionomer construction for great value and great performance. 52

NEW FASTLAYER CORE Excellent distance, ball speed, and feel with boosted performance on low-lofted clubs thanks to our new lower compression.

GENERATE LOW SPIN AND INCREASED DISTANCE The FastLayer Core is soft in the center and gradually becomes firm around its outer edge, that’s how it provides both ball speed and great feel. We’ve reformulated FastLayer in the 10th Generation AD333 with a lower overall compression, which means improved performance. FastLayer Core generates lower spin on impact before the unique 338 Speed Dimple Pattern takes over to reduce drag for a more penetrating ball flight. These two technologies stack on one another for immense distance gains.

338 SPEED DIMPLE PATTERN Penetrating ball flight, improved distance, better consistency and control in the wind. ENHANCED ALIGNMENT Line up with confidence thanks to our improved alignment line. SPIN SKIN WITH SeRM Maximum spin, improved greenside control, more stopping power.

GREENSIDE PERFORMANCE AND CONTROL Featuring new Spin Skin with Slide-Ring Material, the new AD333 offers unprecedented greenside spin performance. Spin Skin with SeRM digs deep into Wedge and Iron grooves, dramatically increasing friction and maximizing spin for more stopping power on every shot.
