Heritage Tours

We are pleased to offer you a preview of our Heritage Tours for 2014, designed exclusively for Europa Nostra members in conjunction with our long-term travel partner, Specialtours. Barcelona: A City of Revival 8 – 13 April 2014 The fascinating Mediterranean city of Barcelona has become a model of urban regeneration in Europe. Medieval and industrial buildings have been transformed into spaces for creative projects, Art Nouveau houses have been restored and the city has been opened up to the sea. We invite you to join an insider’s view with art historian Sofia Barroso, featuring not only outstanding museums and monuments, but also special private homes, where we will be received by the owners. There will be a day’s excursion to the charming medieval town of Gerona, visiting restored villages and private country houses. Europa Nostra Representative: Tom Henkemans Tour Organiser: Sofia Barroso Tour price: €2,420 per person / Single Supplement: €325 Casa Amatller & Casa Batlló, Barcelona

Private Houses & Castles of Skåne 8 – 13 September 2014 The aristocratic castle tradition in Sweden is nowhere more apparent than in the lovely southern province of Skåne, where the owners of many historic houses can trace their descent from the era of Danish sovereignty, which ended in 1658. Members will be welcomed at moated medieval castles, stately homes in the Baroque taste and elegant Gustavian manors: most remain in private ownership, supported by their estates and with their fine interiors and family art collections intact. The flourishing university town of Lund, easily accessible from Copenhagen, is our base for this delightful and exclusive tour. Unknown Italy: Puglia & Basilicata 8 – 14 October 2014 This is an opportunity to explore the relatively little-known and unspoiled ‘heel’ of Italy, and discover a wealth of architecture, from the UNESCOlisted rock-cut dwellings and churches of Matera and the distinctive trulli of Alberobello, to remarkable Romanesque cathedrals, Norman castles and the elegant 18th-century palaces of Martina Franca. Staying at a converted convent in the attractive fishing port of Trani and at a restored mansion in the exuberant Baroque city of Lecce, members will be received and hosted by the owners of private castles, villas, town palaces and country estates.
