editor’s note “BACK AGAIN” The process of bringing something to fruition involves guts, hard work, and patience. After a one year hiatus to rebuild Estelle (and the Fanore brand), I experienced all three. The constant roadblocks and research became a job within itself. However, there’s a lesson to learn in everything. It was important for me to understand the journey is to be appreciated as much as the reward. Admittedly, I’m still learning and embracing it. The motivator that played a huge part in my perseverance is why I’m doing it. I want Estelle to be a platform where our readers see diversity. True diversity! Underrepresented talent who have as much to bring to the table as anyone in the industries of fashion/beauty, travel, culture and wellness. The most successful companies have a diversed team

behind it because everyone has something unique to bring to the table. It’s their ability to bring new and fresh ideas, and representation in the media is no different. This is why I created Estelle! T his is a publication available to the world, and I want the world to see themselves in it! In this issue, there are editorials and music from around the globe, and wellness in foreign spaces. Now that we are a quarterly issue, our team can curate the best content accompanied with video and audio content of music artists, fashion and all things culture. I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I enjoyed putting it together. This is a publication available to the world, and I want the world to see themselves in it!

Typically associated with religion, I depicted the Madonna in a different light for this series. A woman from another dimension of the Unvierse. She is seen as a God herself. She is a representation of no one belief or religion but of the God within ourselves.

TREND REPORT ECLECTICSM BY: ASHA BEY
Fashion is about identity and creative expression. Having an eclectic style with vibrant colors, bold patterns, and funky suits, is certainly a way to take over the fashion scene!
Items like embellished pearl jeans or embroidered shirts are definitely making a comeback thanks to this eccentric style. Channeling your inner style and purchasing unique pieces is where fashion stems from.
Eclecticism has everyone stepping out of their comfort zones and into this trend. From the runway to urban streets, people are confidently strutting unique pieces to make up their ensembles.
Eclecticism is definitely a style that anyone can confidently pull off because it’s fluid and fun. The bold patterns and fun colors make it easy to look a little over the top, so a style tip would be to pay attention to the colors when deciding what to wear.
Celebrities like Pharrell Williams and Selena Gomez graced the red carpets with eclectic inspired outfits.

trips and gatherings, my dog, my house and backyard - basically everything I saw and everywhere I went. I was a very quiet child, so photography really became the way that I expressed myself, and it became very intuitive from an early age.
Much of his work centers around blackness and speaks to the racial politics of visibility and invisibility, beauty, and representation. An aspiring curator, Calvin’s interests lie mainly in looking closely and comprehensively at how Blackness is and has been represented across various mediums.
How important is your relationship with photography? Why? My relationship to photography has always been one of the most important things in my life, just because I don’t really know a period of my life without it. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how serious that actually is. Making art, looking at it - really spending time with it - has always been a lifeline for me.
Where are you from? I grew up in Wilton, CT, but I recently moved to Bushwick.
What has been your greatest accomplishment last year? Last year was a great for me. I was able to accomplish so many things that, a year ago, I didn’t think would be happening right now. I still think my greatest accomplishment
When did photography come into your life? My dad gave me a Polaroid camera when I was very young, maybe four or five. I grew up photographing everything with that camera - family

: REEDY personally and as an artist was producing such a strong body of work for my thesis, which included expanding my practice into video. I’m so grateful to have friends that were willing to create and step into such an intimate and vulnerable space with me to produce the work. I got my most powerful work to date out of it, but the fact that we were really able to think through and re-work notions of Black masculinity together will always be something I’m proud of. What’s ahead? This year is shaping up to be pretty promising! I wrapped up a Curatorial & Events Internship with Artsy, where I was able to work with curators and artists, and even got to Miami Art Week in December. Looking ahead, I have some really exciting exhibition opportunities in the works! calvinreedy.com IG: @creedygram

THE TEA: CANDID & -Courtney Alexandria
As the Founder and CEO of Candid & Co., Courtney Alexandria is a multifaceted women’s empowerment company that advocates self-love enveloped in personal growth, selfconfidence, and self-empowerment. Collectively through The Candid Communitea, Candid Tea, and The Candid xChange, she strives to bridge the gap between internal and external well-being. Her company is headquartered in Bowie, MD.
written and verbal communication skills. I wondered how I could merge my skills with my passion for supporting and motivating women in all things related to well-being and in July of 2016 the framework for Candid & Co. emerged. It has been a true labor of love creating three brands - The Candid Communitea, Candid Tea and The Candid xChange with one goal: to support, encourage, and inspire women to create the life that they deserve.
“Success isn’t just about what you accomplish in your life; it’s about what you inspire others to do.” This quote from an unknown wise man perfectly echoes my beliefs, and ultimately lead to the creation of Candid & Co. Like most people that are unfulfilled in their 9 to 5, I began searching for “that thing” that would give meaning and purpose to my life.
As an advocate for women empowering themselves, it’s important to create dialogue around mental wellness. I believe your outer reality is a reflection of your inner perception, which is heavily impacted by one’s mental state. A positive mindset sets the foundation for the value placed on self-worth and selfworth influences self-confidence and self-esteem, all of which affects feelings, emotions, and behaviors.
With a little divine intervention, I was reminded to use the gifts that I was given, and for me that meant using my

For this reason, self-care is a must. Taking the time to strengthen your mind will positively impact every aspect of your life. Candid & Co. has been in existence for less than a year and in such a short time, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with so many different women who are like me - making strides towards everyday well-being. So, for the remainder of 2018 I’m truly looking forward to building on that momentum in hopes of establishing Candid & Co. as a go-to resource for women looking to become the best version of themselves. My company theme this year has been “growth” which means, more partnerships and collaborations, more community engagement, and a more focused approach on content creation. www.candidandco.com IG: candidtea
