CT-A closes season with ‘Nunsense’ musical 22nd Annual Shannon St MusicFest CORINTH, Miss. … Corinth Theatre-Arts closes its 2012-2013 season with its upcoming production of “Nunsense – The Mega-Musical Version.” Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, May 31 and June 1, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at CT-A, 303 Fulton Drive, Corinth. Tickets, $12 for adults and $6 for students, are available at 662.287.2995 or at the theatre, 1-6 p.m., Tuesdays-Fridays. Sponsored by Magnolia Regional Health Center, “Nunsense” wraps up the season’s theme of “Let the Arts Transport You” by taking the audience to the convent and school of Mt. St. Helen’s, Hoboken, N.J., said play director Cris Skinner “The silliness of this musical borders on the madcap antics of Inspector Clouseau of the Pink Panther movies or perhaps envisions a play if Mel Brooks decided to do a musical about singing and dancing nuns,” said Skinner, who also is CT-A artistic director. “The nuns are trying to raise money after a catastrophic series of events has resulted in the burial of 52 of their convent. We wrestled with the serious subject of death in ‘Whose Life Is It Anyway?’ but in ‘Nunsense,’ death is handled with humor as the nuns struggle with being under-staffed, under-funded and under-appreciated. Everyone in the audience can relate to one of the characters. The songs are diverse and border on nearly every genre. With ‘Nunsense,’ we end our 2012-2013 season on a high note!” Cast members are Reverend Mother Mary Regina (Mother Superior) – Cheryl Sproles; Sister Mary Hubert (Mistress of Novices) – Beverly Harris; Sister Robert Anne (streetwise nun from Brooklyn) – Linda Dixon; Sister Mary Amnesia (nun who lost her memory) – Lesley Petty; Sister Mary Leo (novice who wants to be a ballerina) – Emili Gann; Sister Julia, Child of God (convent cook) – Jan Soltz; Sister Mary Brendan (novice) – Jenny Jordan; Sister Mary Luke (novice) – Leah Petty; Sister Mary Wilhelm (convent nurse) – Tina Carreon; Brother Mary Virgil (Sister Leo’s brother) – Kennedy Curtis; Sister Mary Patrick (musical director/conductor) – Anita Temple; Sister Mary Sebastian (stage manager) – Jennifer Strachan; Brother Mary Timothy (assistant stage manager) – Aaron Dean; and Brother Mary Myopia (spotlight operator) – Leland Hendrix. Musical director is Anita Temple, choreographer is Crystal Sweeney Scarbrough and Anita Climer is the accompanist. A Main Stage production, “Nunsense” is appropriate for all audiences, but some of the situations and language are more appropriate for those over 13 years of age. “Nunsense: The Mega-Musical Version” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
