RELAXATION

Forty acres of parkland, stunning views of the Cornish coastline and rolling countryside –Wooda Farm Holiday Park is the ultimate escape.

Owned and run by the Colwill family since it was first established in 1975, Wooda Farm Holiday Park has traditional family values at its core. This rural escape of woodland, farmyard animals, outdoor experiences, five-star accommodation and open spaces for children to run free in is where memories are made. Charlotte Veale, a member of the latest Colwill generation explains: “We want our guests to share our home, discover for themselves what we love about the site and become part of the Wooda family.”

To help make stays as comfortable as possible, the site has evolved over the years to incorporate an on-site bar and restaurant – once the farm’s milking parlour. There is also a coffee lounge and cocktail bar, sports facilities, and even a Wellness Barn. What’s more, from July onwards there will be a newly renovated toilet and shower block for touring and camping pitches. “We’re very close to the beaches and seaside,” says Charlotte. “We have some families who return year on year, and have done so for more than 30 years!”

The site’s latest accommodation offering is a selection of luxury lodges designed to capitalise on the vista, simultaneously incorporating eco-friendly elements. The lodges are aesthetically kind on the landscape, with living roofs and cedar cladding. Each also has an air-source heat pump powered by a ground-mounted solar panel system, as well as a passive heat recovery system. Sustainability aside, the stamp of accommodation at Gwelva Hills is undeniably luxurious. Hartland, Marsland, Northcott and Summerleaze, just four of the lodges that make up the development, boast stylish designs and soft hues, drawing inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape. With five-star facilities for touring and camping, alongside luxury holiday homes, self-catering cottages and lodges, Wooda’s welcome is driven by a love for the land and a passion for great hospitality that’s been passed down over the course of almost a century.

ADVENTURE is out there!

Back for a second year, Roarsome invites us on an epic family adventure this summer.

These days it can feel more and more difficult to get the little ones up and outside, away from the electronic devices that we all depend on, and into nature. Dive Project Cornwall provides an education programme and experience opportunity, raising awareness of the importance of the planet’s marine environment.

Alongside Dive Project Cornwall’s education project, which is available to all secondary schools and can be accessed via its informative website, a base has now been established at Porthkerris in Cornwall, where schools from all over the UK are invited to become familiar with the ocean. This experience opportunity takes the form of a competition which gives 400 teenagers the chance of winning a six-day, life-changing trip to Cornwall to learn to scuba dive. The hope is that the children then go on to be Ocean Influencers, acting positively to engage, inspire and motivate the next generation in a bid to save the planet.

The lucky teenagers are put through an immersive ocean-based education programme that they will take out into the world to improve everyone’s understanding of the fragility of the oceans. At the end of June 2022, Dive Project Cornwall ran the first pilot week, introducing 20 students from Sir James Smith School, Cornwall, to a week of scuba diving and marine conservation, officially becoming the very first group of Ocean Influencers!

“It was a proud moment for everyone involved,” says Founder, Andrew Forster, “to finally bring together all

the elements to create this life-changing experience. As Ed McGuffie, Deputy Head told us, “The children have returned as completely different individuals, becoming more confident and resilient with a new set of life-skills. To be a part of such an integral change in a young person’s life is hugely inspiring for us and we can’t wait to share these experiences with our other winning schools.”

Head of Diving for Dive Project Cornwall, Darren Sutton explains further: “We have a superb team here at Porthkerris, and we’re very fortunate to have a raft of tirelessly supportive sponsors and partners. From PADI Scuba Diving and the Marine Conservation Society, to Falmouth Marine School and Porthkerris Dive Centre, it’s been wonderful to witness everybody coming together. One school that we recently hosted have already returned home and set up an environmental group to champion the welfare of our seas. If we can inspire a generation of Ocean Influencers to respect, love and cherish the ocean, that will surely drive the passion needed to protect it.” FOR
