The Need For Services is Great… and Growing • There are over 85,000 seniors (persons over 60 years of age) living in East Baton Rouge Parish today • Approximately half of that number are living at or below the poverty line2 • The number of seniors in the parish is expected to increase over the next two decades.

Voter Approved Millage • Many Louisiana Councils on Aging receive local millage support • In November 2016, voters approved 2.25 mills to support EBRCOA • Anticipate funding in Spring 2018 • Estimated to be about $7.8 Million Community Meetings 2017 │ Millage Implementation

Millage Implementation Plan • Formed the Millage Implementation Task Force to provide community input and advice to EBRCOA Board and staff • Composed of seniors and representatives from governmental agencies, elected officials, faith-­‐based organizations and nonprofit agencies from across the parish
