OUR COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL JE Dunn is committed to placing great value on green building and sustainability as a general construction practice. That’s why we aim for all projects to implement sustainable construction practices, including energy innovation and efficiency, indoor environmental quality, material selection, site planning, resource efficiency, and water use. The goal is to hold ourselves accountable and guide our clients to help make our side of the industry as green as possible. We pride ourselves and have built our reputation on not just doing quality work but making a positive impact on the environment. Not only do we have a strong history of building and maintaining LEED-certified facilities, but we’re also exploring opportunities to achieve even higher levels of sustainability and performance through emerging credentials such as WELL Building certification. We’re working with our clients to make projects efficient and sustainable inside and out, from efficient planning and construction practices to conscious material selection and future-proof facility design. Conscious Material Selection Reduces Impact Selecting sustainable materials plays a vital role in a building’s environmental footprint. Helping clients incorporate large-scale green building efforts such as natural lighting, recycled materials, and renewable energy systems to new and existing construction is something JE Dunn has been doing for years. At JE Dunn, we advise and assist our clients with prioritizing building materials that perform well and help us meet sustainability goals. We don’t just consider the potential lifespan of the materials we choose. We also look at the environmental impacts and trade-offs of a product and how the end-users will interact with it on a daily basis.

EXTREME PREFABRICATION AND A LEAN APPROACH DELIVER SARAH CANNON CANCER CENTER In August 2020, the new Sarah Cannon Cancer Hospital on the Medical City Plano Campus in Texas became the first LEED v4 for Healthcare Gold-Certified facility in the US. JE Dunn’s collaborative approach, early virtual design and construction (VDC), and extreme off-site prefabrication made that possible. Leveraging VDC early on in the project, the team was able to turn the traditional prefabrication model on its head. Instead of designing and then trying to figure out what could be prefabricated, they began with one central question: what could we possibly prefabricate? Operating with a prefabricate-first mindset, the project team created 3D models of all prefabricated components, which allowed them to take conceptual ideas and put them into files alongside the design team to leverage each partner’s expertise and increase collaboration. The team successfully prefabricated 252 exterior wall panels, 63 overhead multi-trade corridor racks, 51 multi-trade overhead patient room racks, 90 headwalls and sinkwalls, 105 bathroom pods, and 15 nurse charting stations. Additional prefabricated components included electrical rooms and underground electric duct banks.

10

environmental

As a result, the team relocated more than 94,000 trade partner hours offsite for premanufactured components, ultimately reducing the entire project schedule by 6.7 percent, saving the client two months on a 27-month design and construction schedule, while also saving more than $8.7 million. In addition, there were zero safety recordables and over 80 percent fewer RFIs than usual on a comparable project using more traditional methods.

WELL BUILDING INITIATIVE At JE Dunn, we’re not just investing in infrastructure. We’re investing in our people. While our headquarters building in Kansas City, Mo. made history when it became the city’s first-ever LEED Gold-certified corporate headquarters, we’re going further. That means creating and maintaining a tradition of better buildings through WELL Certification. 2020 marked the onset of JE Dunn’s WELL Building Initiative. The WELL Building Standard aims to promote health and wellness in the modern office. Seven different categories make up the final standard: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. Our path to WELL Certification begins with an investment of $107,900 over five years. We expect to complete the certification process in 10 months:

PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH LEED AND TECHNOLOGY A Pioneer in LEED As a platinum sponsor of the US Green Building Council, JE Dunn employees have access to ongoing training, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credentials, national conferences, and many are active members in local chapters. Project-specific LEED requirements are at the forefront of our planning. They’re part of our process. We actively focus on those requirements during preconstruction, reviewing all documents and building elements to ensure sustainable practices and construction methods. Throughout construction, we work closely with our clients, designers, and trade partners to manage, monitor, and implement sustainable construction practices. This includes turning off fume-generating equipment when not in use, creating diesel emissions plans for all trucking equipment, and monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ). We also reduce construction waste at the jobsite through prefabrication, managing surplus construction materials, and recycling and reusing building materials whenever possible. JE Dunn also prioritizes minimizing disruption to the jobsite and surrounding areas. Each project is designed with a specific waste collection system and designated haul paths to maximize reuse and recycling of materials, as well as minimize contamination and disturbance. A stormwater protection plan is implemented on each site to prevent dust and water runoff from compromising nearby waterways.

HURLBURT FIELD HEALTHCARE COMPLEX EARNS LEED SILVER DESIGNATION In collaboration with architectural firm Hoefer Wysocki, we achieved LEED Silver certification through the modernization and expansion of Hurlburt Field, an auxiliary field of Eglin Air Force Base in Mary Esther, Florida. The multi-faceted, $50 million, design-build project entailed extensive renovations to 80,000 square feet across three buildings as well as a 3,000-square-foot expansion to realign healthcare operations at the base. The central facility of the multi-unit medical and dental complex achieved the LEED Silver designation for performance in energy, water, indoor environmental quality, and durability. JE Dunn ensured direct involvement in establishing sustainability strategies. As a result, more than 21 percent of materials were locally sourced, a practice which not only boosts the local economy but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation of materials and equipment to the site. More than 50 percent of the on-site construction waste was diverted from landfills for reuse in other projects. The modernization project also reduced lighting-related energy consumption by over 16 percent and reduced water use by 34 percent through low-flow plumbing fixtures. We also optimized HVAC energy performance with low-emitting materials. Today, 96 percent of the equipment in the facility is ENERGY-STAR rated. While the sustainable features greatly reduce waste and resource use, they also maximize the life of the property through the use of high-quality construction methods and highly durable materials, which reduce costs associated with operations and maintenance.

INNOVATIVE BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES MAKE PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION MORE EFFICIENT For JE Dunn, sustainability isn’t just in the final product – it’s built into our process. Through our innovative advanced technologies we involve stakeholders earlier in the process and at a more meaningful level, making preconstruction and construction more efficient. Building information modeling (BIM) and VDC play a major role in all JE Dunn projects, helping us save time, energy, and resources. We provide cutting-edge preconstruction visualization through Lens, developed with Autodesk and Microsoft. The award-winning Dunn Dashboard provides web-based collaboration on design documents, digital models, virtual estimates, and other project documentation. We even utilize emerging technologies in the field such as wearables and robotics to increase safety and efficiency. Advanced Work Packaging and Prefabrication Lead to a Cleaner, Safer Job Site At JE Dunn, we believe in working smarter, not harder. Methods like advanced work packaging (AWP) and prefabrication allow us to take designs down to an extreme level of detail, helping us reduce overall consumption through a shorter project duration. Advanced work packaging can change the construction industry and the mindset of the teams that design and build together. By using a construction-driven philosophy to plan and collaborate on building capital projects, we can create a constraint-free work environment in the field. JE Dunn also leverages prefabrication to reduce our building footprint. By using prefabricated components, we are able to reduce equipment on site and allow team members to build components on the ground instead of in the air. In addition to safety, these efforts help us reduce our consumption of electricity, natural gas, water, and gasoline during construction. JE Dunn Construction | ESG REPORT

MINIMIZED RISK THROUGH PLANNING

SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND APPROACH

JE Dunn has an obligation to the community, our clients, and everyone on our project sites to maintain a hazard-free environment. When risk is minimized, clients benefit from increased savings and a positive public perception of a project. Project-Specific Safety Planning Our approach to risk management is through project-specific safety planning. Recognizing every project is unique, JE Dunn superintendents lead their project teams in the field, with the support of our regional safety director and safety managers. Everyone on a jobsite, including trade partners, is held to the projectspecific safety plan. Depending on size, scope, and complexity of the construction site, the JE Dunn safety team provides the necessary oversight to set a project up for success.

Project safety meetings are held weekly and incorporate safety hand-outs and “toolbox safety training” pertinent to existing conditions. We also provide continual, off-site safety training to include first aid, CPR, trenching safety, safe crane operation and so on. All trade partners are required to provide a site-specific, written safety program and attend all weekly safety meetings. They also lead scope-specific safety meetings. This ensures a collaborative safety approach.

To ensure we are putting our commitment to safety into action, JE Dunn utilizes a Safety Accountability and Responsibility Matrix to hold our project managers and superintendents accountable for the day-to-day safety of their teams. This established set of expectations are regularly evaluated by regional leadership as improvements are developed. We conduct performance reviews for our superintendents and project managers semi-annually. They are evaluated based on the matrix and how well they demonstrate a safe work environment for their project teams, which includes JE Dunn personnel, trade partners, and the client.

SAFETY TRAINING AND PROGRAMMING Training is an integral part of our safety culture, ensuring all employees in the field and the office are educated on JE Dunn’s safety policies and equipped with the knowledge to implement these safety practices. We provide safety programming and education for all employees, including internal campaigns and innovative and successful practices to safeguard jobsites and protect workers. Documentation is provided in both Spanish and English. Jobsite Safety Orientation and Drug Testing On project sites, every worker must attend safety orientation and pass a mandatory drug test prior to beginning work. In this orientation, workers are shown a safety video as well as other project-specific information. Near-Miss Reporting and Incident Reviews JE Dunn promotes the proactive approach of reporting near-miss events on our projects. Every worker is encouraged to participate in incident prevention by reporting near misses via a QR code posted around the project site, as well as on their cell phones. Near misses are investigated, controls are developed, and these events and findings are communicated in weekly safety meetings. In the event of an incident, our CEO meets with the parties involved to conduct a root cause analysis. Once we find the root cause, lessons learned that can prevent future incidents are broadcast to the team and al JE Dunn employees. Safety Tracking You Can See With BIM 360 Field, all project stakeholders can see the status of all safety concerns and corrective actions in real time. When a safety concern is logged, the appropriate party is immediately notified on their mobile device via BIM 360 Field for timely resolution. Hazards and corrective actions identified are entered into the program for analysis. The data can then be trended to proactively identify areas of concern before incidents happen.

“WHY I WORK SAFE” It is our goal that everyone on our projects and in our offices returns home to their loved ones at the end of each day in the same shape they arrived that morning. To personalize and reinforce our safety culture, we encourage employees to participate in the “Why I Work Safe” campaign. Employees may wear badges with photos of loved ones as a constant reminder of why safety truly matters.

SAFETY. EVERYONE. EVERYWHERE. ALL THE TIME. Our safety philosophy, though simple, has new meaning after the events of 2020. What the pandemic proved is that our philosophy means more than securing a jobsite and a low incident rate. It means adapting procedures and protocols at the drop of a hat to enhance safety, and to protect the safety of not just our employees but their families as well, and to empower our people to make safe choices in every aspect of their lives. Despite the hidden risk COVID presented on jobsites across the country, we still had the best safety year in company history, which can be attributed to the engagement in safety from leadership to our trade labor, the ownership of safety by the entire project team, and JE Dunn’s safety culture of fixing an issue rather than placing blame. We’re proud of our safety philosophy and performance, especially in the face of the challenges the year brought.

RESPONDING TO CRISIS While JE Dunn has a long-established culture of safety and health, this awareness was brought to new heights in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all the scenarios safety professionals account for, no one can truly anticipate a pandemic unlike anyone has experienced in recent history, but the way a company reacts to it sets the course for current and future operations. With construction deemed an essential business, JE Dunn leadership laid out a plan to maintain safety and continuity on construction sites across the country. As the virus approached the US, JE Dunn established a SWAT team to help steer the direction of our company response. The team, comprised of the executive team and leaders across the regions, offices and various departments, met daily to adjust plans and share new information as news of COVID-19 developed. In addition, the team created a Stay Safe email address dedicated for employees to reach the SWAT team with concerns, updates, or questions. The SWAT team quickly developed jobsite-specific safety plans with special emphasis on the local projects and business within each region. We were challenged to keep pace with WHO, CDC, local, and state recommendations and ordinances in different geographic locations, in addition to any client requirements. The SWAT team started with an early Business Continuity Plan, which outlined comprehensive plans for project sites with an emphasis on protecting people through social distancing, personal hygiene, and contact tracing. These plans proved valuable for worksite management and driving safe project sites. Plans built included:

Quick Start Guide with information detailing how to get started on a jobsite with Coronavirus preparedness

Coronavirus Site Work Plan that included a downloadable training presentation for jobsites to tailor to a specific site if necessary

Coronavirus Site Work Plan Additional Details which included specific, detailed direction for jobsites

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION JE Dunn is committed to increasing the diversity of our workplace and eliminating barriers for minorities, women, Veterans, LGBTQ+ and individuals with disabilities. We support programs aligned under our three-pillar strategy for diversity and inclusion: workforce, workplace, and marketplace. To enhance our approach in building a diverse workforce, we partner with organizations across the nation that promote diversity and inclusion – engaging with them consistently to help us identify and attract diverse talent. In January 2020, JE Dunn ranked #163 out of 500 companies nationally on the Forbes Best Employers for Diversity ranking. Working with market research firm Statista, Forbes surveyed 60,000 employees working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. The final list ranks the 500 employers that not only received the most recommendations, but that also have the most diverse boards and executive ranks and the most proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives. CEO Action Pledge In 2020, Gordon Lansford took the CEO Action Pledge to build productive, diverse and inclusive workplaces. The pledge includes four main goals:

1 2 3 4

To continue to make our workplaces trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion. To implement and expand unconscious bias education. To share best—and unsuccessful—practices. To create and share strategic inclusion and diversity plans with our board of directors.

The CEO Action Pledge is the largest business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Nearly 2,000 CEOs across 85 industries have taken the pledge. We are proud to have joined the coalition. We recognize that these four commitments are not the complete answer, but we believe they are important steps toward building more diverse and inclusive workplaces. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Council In 2020, we formed the DE&I Council to evaluate and provide feedback on the company’s existing initiatives. The council introduced and hosted several listening sessions across all regions providing our Black and minority employees with a safe space to have meaningful conversations and to make their voices heard. The council hosted quarterly Diversity Dialogues, dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and bringing down some of the walls that keep us from having diversity conversations. 20

Talent Advisory Board As new positions become available within JE Dunn, we want to ensure diverse individuals have the opportunity to grow, develop, and fill these roles. Our Talent Advisory Board represents a diverse range of leaders in various functions throughout our organizations. Board members make recommendations and provide key information to the DE&I Director to accelerate results. These recommendations are later presented to the DE&I Council composed of members of the Executive Leadership Team and Vice President of Talent Acquisition. Employee Resource Groups JE Dunn launched the new National Black Employee Resource Group (NBERG), with regional locally owned chapters through all five regions. The NBERG provides greater exposure and development while creating a safe space to promote cultural awareness. NBERG’s efforts are focused within the pillars of our ERGs: engagement, retention, development, and connection. Moment Connection is JE Dunn’s women’s networking group, created to connect and build camaraderie for women as they navigate their careers at JE Dunn. Through quarterly meetings around special interest topics such as physical and mental health, networking, and improving industry acumen, the group provides women with support, knowledge, and ideas to help them succeed in the workplace while networking and strengthening relationships with coworkers. Disability Awareness One way JE Dunn supports and celebrates people with disabilities is through our partnership with Disability:IN, which drives disability awareness and inclusion in the workplace and marketplace. Their vision is to be the trusted advisor and voice of business-to-business, government and media regarding disability inclusion in the workplace and marketplace. Over the past 10 years, JE Dunn has also supported almost 100 nonprofit organizations serving individuals with disabilities, including: • American Heart Association • Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center • Ability KC • Saving Sight & Sound • A Chance to Change JE Dunn is also an active member on Disability:IN of Greater Kansas City’s Disability Inclusion: Construction & Engineering Roundtable where best practices for employing people with disabilities in the construction industry are discussed.

Diversity in Education and Recruitment Efforts Building a diverse and inclusive workforce means more than simply recruiting top talent—it means mentoring a new generation of builders while fostering a culture of innovation and creative thinking. We believe in growing as a team and providing opportunities to set the foundation for a career in construction. To achieve this, we provide mentoring, scholarships, and various outreach initiatives on college campuses and in the community. Each initiative is designed to educate and attract diverse candidates. Not only do we remain active on various college campuses across the region, but we also connect with groups like Women in Engineering, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the National Society of Black Engineers. Diverse Student Scholarship We are proud of our existing relationships with over 30 educational institutions throughout all regions from which we recruit diverse and non-diverse talent. To heighten the intentionality and reach more diverse talent, our partner institutions include three Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) within the JE Dunn geographic footprint: Florida A&M University, Prairie View A&M University, and North Carolina A&T. These partnerships allow us to build a diverse talent pipeline at the early/mid-college level, attracting more students of color to the construction industry. Our HBCU partnerships positively impact the percentage of diverse entry-level candidates joining JE Dunn while also demonstrating our commitment to addressing under representation in our industry. Through our HBCU partnerships we offer four scholarship awards per year which also include multi-year paid summer internships. JE Dunn also established the National Diversity Scholarship, which offers a $5,000 scholarship and paid internship to twelve students of color over two years. Eligible students must be enrolled in a construction or engineering program and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. These efforts are in addition to all other scholarships and internships JE Dunn offers. We expect the HBCU partnerships and scholarship offerings to provide a 14% increase in diverse interns in 2021 and over 20% going forward.

I:GROW JE Dunn understands that connecting with students at an earlier age is important to providing exposure to options and opportunities in the construction industry. That’s why we developed the I:GROW (Interns Gaining Relevant Opportunities While Working) program in Kansas City. Through I:GROW, we partner with local school districts to connect with students and administrators. The partnership allows us to share important tools and resources to inform students about career opportunities in construction management and the skilled trades. Also, I:GROW provides students with mentoring, hands-on experience, and internships. One particular success story came through JE Dunn’s partnership with Cristo Rey High School in Kansas City, Mo. A former student at Cristo Rey, Keyli Soto was with us as a high school intern for several years. She enjoyed her introduction to the construction industry and learning and development so much that she returned as a college intern. Keyli graduated high school in 2019 and completed her first college internship in summer 2020, and she is currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Kansas.

MCD PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: THE PAINT DOCTOR Archie Deese, owner of The Paint Doctor in Atlanta, Ga. is one of the most successful graduates of our MCD program. While Deese had a successful business in painting high-end designer homes, he wanted to transition into commercial painting. After enrolling in the executive education program at Dartmouth University’s Tuck School of Business, he joined the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC). Soon after, he was accepted to JE Dunn’s MCD program, which offered him a chance to meet and work with architects and project managers well-versed in commercial construction management and best practices. The program and mentorship helped Deese transition his business practices from residential to commercial work. Soon, The Paint Doctor had intranet sites, folder systems, and employee operating systems that allowed the company to operate at a much larger scale. Since completing the program, The Paint Doctor has taken on larger projects such as Toyota’s 350,000 square-foot distribution center in Commerce, Ga.

MINORITY CONTRACTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PRO GRAM When it comes to providing long-standing opportunities for diversity and inclusion, JE Dunn understands its role in helping minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBE) grow and succeed in the construction industry. That’s why we created a formal education program for potential subcontractors that emphasizes minority and women-owned companies. The program, which lasts eight months, is free of charge to all admitted contractors. Each applicant is selected through an application and interview process. Not only is the program intended to prepare small businesses for success in the construction industry, but one vital purpose is to provide them with the chance to work with JE Dunn. The MCD program’s curriculum is structured in monthly sessions held at a JE Dunn location, with courses covering topics such as mock bid, project leadership, estimating, policies and procedures, and more. Companies that complete the program are added to JE Dunn’s database of approved contractors, which the operations team can invite to bid on projects.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND WELLNESS We believe in health and well-being, and never has that guiding principle rang more true than in the face of a global pandemic. The power of positive thinking became a core theme for JE Dunn. In addition to providing our employees with the latest health and safety information through regular newsletters, we launched several internal campaigns: Mental Health Month, 38 Days of Gratitude, and a complimentary membership to Care.com for employees to identify resources from childcare and tutoring to elder care. In addition to those initiatives, JE Dunn continued to support its employees through our comprehensive benefits package, which is offered to all JE Dunn employees including skilled trade and craft workers. • Parental leave (80 hours) This includes: • Tuition reimbursement • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Employee referral program • Health spending accounts • Employee assistance program (EAP) • Life and AD&D insurance • Health care concierge • Short-term and long-term disability • Maternity program • 401(k) • Employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) • Vacation, health, holidays, bereavement Recent months have shown us a lot about our employees, company, and communities, and it will no doubt leave lasting changes on people and industries across the board. The resiliency and engagement of our people and partners during this crisis have been incredible and inspiring.

Mental Health Mental health awareness has become more important than ever. To support employees through challenging times, JE Dunn introduced a new focus on mental health programs. This included additional reminders to employees of the resources available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Your Wellness Connection (YWC) led by Chiropractor Dr. Michelle Robin, provided wellness education, support services, and materials to JE Dunn employees to expand and enhance the culture of wellness. We also introduced a gratitude campaign, Dunn with Gratitude, to inspire employees to both give and feel grateful during the holiday season. The incorporation of JE Dunn’s messaging and guiding principles served to invoke strong ties to our culture, company-caring, community involvement, and a health and well-being approach throughout the holidays. The 38-day campaign began with a kick-off message from Gordon Lansford the week of Thanksgiving. Lansford then released a new gratitude blog post each week until the end of the campaign, and members of the JE Dunn executive leadership team released videos discussing meaningful gratitude quotes. In addition to messages from leadership, employees received a set of gratitude cards with a unique message or inspirational quote for each day of the 38-day campaign. As part of the Dunn with Gratitude campaign, JE Dunn hosted a Gratitude Keynote: Building Rhythm and Resilience. The presentation focused on motivation, health, and wisdom for these times, and learning how gratitude plays a part in our emotional wellbeing. The message of gratitude was also spread to employees through office lobby monitor signage and posters and banners on jobsites.

PHILANTHROPY Building Inspired Communities Our goal is to enrich lives through corporate and employee giving and engagement in the communities where we live, work, and build. JE Dunn, the Dunn Family Foundation and our employee owners are proud to invest time, talent, and resources to serve others. From corporate gifts to in-kind donations, to the new Employee Matching Gift Program and volunteer time, we donated more than $10.1 million in 2020. A Comprehensive Community Impact Strategy JE Dunn is committed to becoming a philanthropy thought leader by defining our vision and purpose, establishing giving priorities, and creating a national process for corporate and employee engagement. We want to provide opportunities for all JE Dunn employees to give back to their local communities through time, talent, and resources. This involves new efforts to measure impact using internal and external metrics and evaluation as well as new methods for sharing our impact. To help unite our community impact strategy across the company, employee input was gathered through an employee philanthropy survey. Nearly 900 responses revealed our top priorities to be community development, education, health and well-being, and social impact. To help match our community impact strategy to the causes most important to our employees, we developed a number of programs, like Community Ambassadors, a Community Impact Portal, and a grant making platform. Community Impact Portal The Community Impact Portal was launched in September 2020 to help us track where and how our employees are donating and volunteering. This data will be connected with our broader community impact strategy to ultimately align company-wide priorities with the causes our employees are most passionate about. The Community Impact Portal allows employees to create a profile where they can share current or previous board memberships, if they’re interested in a board position within the community, what their volunteer interests are, and other related items. It’s also home to a calendar where employees can sign up for events and volunteer opportunities, as well as track their volunteer hours. The portal features nonprofit and employee spotlights, bringing stories from the community to life. In addition, a COVID-19 inspiration feed showcases the creative and amazing ways JE Dunn employees are helping those impacted by the pandemic. Corporate, Foundation, and Employee Giving JE Dunn and our employees will invest time, talent, and resources in a holistic manner to charitable organizations that impact community development, education, health and well-being, and social impact. In addition we’re committed to funding nonprofits that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion. Grant Making Platform In 2020, we developed an all-new grant making platform to serve as a central place to submit donation requests. The platform has helped us streamline our processes, capture impact and metrics, and deepen our nonprofit relationships. JE Dunn Employee Disaster Relief/Hardship Fund The JE Dunn Employee Disaster Relief/Hardship Fund provides JE Dunn employees with shortterm financial assistance during unexpected hardships and emergencies caused by disasters. The company, its employees, and others fund this program through a variety of means.

COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS As part of JE Dunn’s 2020 Community Impact strategy, we created a network of Community Ambassadors, composed of employees in each of our markets who are passionate about their local community. These 35 ambassadors play a key role in national and local Community Impact efforts by connecting passionate employees with volunteer opportunities, nonprofit board roles, and connections to community needs.

GOVERNANCE After over 96 years of growth, JE Dunn has never strayed from its founding values: uncompromising integrity, unparalleled concern for excellence, and an unwavering belief in the value of its employees. We take a comprehensive approach to our governance structure, where transparency and equity are at the heart of all we do. The board of directors of JE Dunn’s parent company work closely with our leadership team to ensure our founding values are incorporated in all that we do. That’s why we make transparency in governance, ethical labor practices, risk management, strategic oversight, and compliance top priorities. The unique challenges and emergency response protocols presented by 2020 made our efforts in these areas especially important to protecting employees, the company, and our clients. Board of Directors The JE Dunn Board of Directors is composed of two groups: JE Dunn family members and company directors: • Tim Dunn, Chairman

Independent directors (40% diverse): • Barrett Brady

• Gordon Lansford, CEO

• William E. Cheatham

• Bob Dunn

• Kevin Rauckman

• Brian Dunn

• Bethany Ropa

• Kevin A. Dunn

• Leroy Williams

• David M. Staker Leadership Transparency JE Dunn’s Code of Business Ethics and Conduct (Code of Ethics) is built on trust and integrity in the way we treat clients, partners, and each other. To maintain the greatest level of trust and confidence with our customers, trade partners, employees, and community, each member, owner, officer, director, employee, and agent of the company pledges:

1

Never to share information given in confidence.

2

To account for all exchanges of services, materials, and money.

3

Not to accept anything we have not earned or for which we have not paid.

4

To recognize the value of every person with whom we have contact.

5

To be honest in our commitments to clients, vendors, family, self, and each other.

Transparent Accounting Methods JE Dunn’s internal standards require that records and books of accounting be accurately, completely and honestly maintained. The true nature of our project services should always be fully disclosed, adequately supported, and documented. Pay Equity and Transparency At JE Dunn, we take every step to ensure fair, consistent, competitive compensation. That includes regular and up-to-date market analysis and internal audits. We also have an executive compensation committee composed of the parent company’s board of directors to provide oversight and input regarding compensation with support from an independent compensation consultant.

30

governance

CODE OF ETHICS HIGHLIGHTS Ethical Labor Practices We believe in the human rights of our workers and are committed to maintaining an environment with fair working conditions. JE Dunn does not tolerate any form of child, forced, bonded, or compulsory labor on our work sites or in our supply chain, including such practices as the unlawful or illegitimate withholding of wages. A child is anyone below the age of 15, or below any higher minimum age specified by local law. In addition, we do not allow any practice that would restrict the free movement of employees. Such practices can include requiring employees to hand over identification documents, passports, or work permits as a condition of employment. Working hours are not to exceed the maximum set by local law.

Small Business Utilization (SBU) Where subcontracting opportunities are present, JE Dunn operates to maximize opportunities for small businesses. This is especially true for Federal contracts performed by JE Dunn. Some of JE Dunn’s Federal contracts may incorporate small business subcontracting plans that require JE Dunn to make good faith efforts toward meeting certain percentages of small business utilization (and break down those percentages according to types of small businesses). To discourage large companies from abusing small business preference programs, JE Dunn requires all small business subcontractors on Federal contracts to sign a written self-certification. This written self-certification must be signed and provided back to JE Dunn before the company issues any subcontract to a small business under a Federal contract. Written self-certifications should be obtained for each subcontract issued to that business.

Conflicts of Interest JE Dunn’s Code of Ethics covers a strict and comprehensive discussion of avoiding, reporting, and disclosing conflicts of interest. This includes the receipt of gifts, entertainment, cash, and/or loans; discounts; outside and volunteer activities; public office or governmental positions; board memberships for any for-profit organizations; employment and/or recruitment; investments and other financial opportunities; and even regional relationships.

Political Contributions and Activities While employees are encouraged to personally participate in the political process by voting or otherwise being involved in political activity, the company will never require or expect any employee to express a political view that is contrary to their personal view. In addition, employees’ political views do not represent or speak on behalf of JE Dunn. Any applicable Federal and/or state lobbying or corporate contributions must be done in accordance with Federal and state laws.

A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO POLICIES, ETHICS, AND COMPLIANCE In addition to the Code of Ethics, we have policies that govern technology, safety, and security practices to keep our information private and protected, as well as our National Vehicle Policy governing conduct when representing the company on the road. Government and Policy Administration Steering Committee To maintain a strong centralized policy program, our Government and Policy Administration Steering Committee meets quarterly to review any potential policy revisions or additions. The committee is made of several project managers and members of the JE Dunn leadership team. All policies and policy changes must be reviewed and approved by the committee. Our Policies Extend Beyond JE Dunn JE Dunn’s policies reach beyond our direct employees. We make every effort to screen agents, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure that their conduct aligns with our Code of Ethics. In 2020, we began extending our existing ethics and anti-harassment policies into our subcontractor agreements. This includes the banning of hate symbols (such as nooses, swastikas, rebel flags) on personal property, in offices, or at job sites. We made this information available to all employees and site managers through our internal intranet and in company-wide educational sessions. Policy Translation Project At JE Dunn, we want all employees to understand their rights and expectations. Historically, any JE Dunn employees or subcontractors who require translation of our policy documents could request an oral translation. While this is still an option, this year we’ve translated our Code of Ethics, Acceptable Use Policy, National Vehicle & Driver Qualification Policy, Anti-Harassment Policy, and Equal Opportunity of Employment Policy into written Spanish documents to better serve our growing Spanish-speaking population. Employees are also welcomed to request that other documents be translated into writing as well. Business Ethics and Compliance Training Programs In addition to developing policies and procedures that ensure ethical business conduct, JE Dunn takes a proactive approach in training employees to conduct business in accordance with the law and company policies. The Code of Ethics and all other policy documents are included in our onboarding process to ensure new employees are aware of and familiar with our policies. Our senior compliance manager delivers ethics and compliance training to all rising project engineers and project managers in the Dunn 200 course. The JE Dunn legal department runs an annual officer survey to ensure we’re meeting compliance requirements in all 50 states. JE Dunn also hosts an annual compliance week each fall. Throughout compliance week, we hold training programs and send out reminders for all employees to review and ask questions about company policies. All policies are available on the company intranet. 32

RISK MANAGEMENT For many construction companies, risk management means insurance and bonds. But at JE Dunn, risk management is more — our risk factors are primarily driven by the risks of our core business: construction and standard corporate risks. Therefore, we take a universal approach to the risks the company faces to protect employees, clients, partners, and the company. Executive Enterprise Risk Assessment The Enterprise Risk Assessment helps us identify and prioritize our risks and mitigation tactics. Our executive leadership team uses a risk matrix to score the level of each risk (high, medium, or low) based on current mitigation efforts. The team uses the same matrix to identify whether the risk is increasing, flat, or decreasing. Those results are then reported to the board of directors.

JE Dunn Construction | ESG REPORT

CORPORATE RISKS Any company of a certain scale incurs standard corporate risks. At JE Dunn, we use several strategies to mitigate these risks. As a baseline, we have overall corporate policies (non-construction-related) such as equal employment opportunity and anti-harassment that define our basic expectations and compliance. Next, the company has its Code of Ethics, which lays out our approach to relationships and expectations of ethical conduct. To help ensure compliance, JE Dunn maintains a confidential toll-free ethics hotline as well as an anonymous online reporting tool. Callers to the hotline are connected to a voice mailbox where messages regarding ethical concerns are collected and transcribed for further investigation. The online reporting tool on the company’s intranet allows employees to submit completely anonymous written messages reporting the same. Employees are required to report any suspected policy and/or compliance violations, and JE Dunn provides protections for retaliation against such reporting. Another strategy to mitigate corporate risks is employee training. The compliance, risk management, and legal departments regularly provide training to all company employees to address, identify, and prepare for known risks. Data protection/cybersecurity The electronic age has brought with it new threats to information security. As a Federal contractor, JE Dunn is particularly concerned with protecting against hacks that can jeopardize the safety of Federal contract data. JE Dunn asks that its employees assist the company in all of our daily activities and on all of our projects in maintaining strong controls by refraining from accessing or saving company data on personal computers, personal email accounts, or other personal storage devices; shredding any discarded papers containing sensitive or Federal contract information; escorting and monitoring all visitors to JE Dunn offices and project sites; maintaining secure, confidential passwords and periodically changing passwords; and taking any other proper measures to prevent unauthorized access to company information. The IT department conducts regular training for employees to help them spot non-compliant employees, phishing scams, or other attempts to compromise our secure system. In addition to the measures we ask employees to take, JE Dunn has a team of information security specialists who make the framework for ultimate cybersecurity protection. The team conducts routine maintenance and surveillance such as maintaining our firewall and tracking viruses, as well as vetting all vendors to make sure any software or hardware they use are built with the proper protections.

34

governance

CONCLUSION JE Dunn’s key strategic objective is to perform in the top third of its construction peer group in profitability while staying true to its guiding principles. This unwavering commitment earned the company a place among the US Best Managed Companies of 2019 and 2020, sponsored by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal. “We’re beyond proud to be under the leadership of our CEO, Gordon Lansford, and grateful to be recognized as a US Best Managed Company,” says Chief Financial Officer Beth Soukup. The path to a sustainable future requires purpose, innovation, and collaboration, and the JE Dunn team, including the Board of Directors, shareholders, and all associates, are united in committing to our ESG goals. Through conscious material selection and innovative building practices, JE Dunn continues to ensure sustainable consumption and production throughout the construction process. Diversity, equity, and inclusion remain on the forefront of our efforts as we work to build and promote a productive, diverse, and inclusive workplace through strategic inclusion and diversity plans. At the same time, we continue to work together to create a comprehensive and measurable community impact strategy to unify our employee and corporate giving. Supporting all of these efforts is our corporate governance structure, which is designed and continually improved to ensure inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. JE Dunn remains dedicated to continuous growth in these areas to ultimately improve the lives of those who use our spaces, our employees, and the communities in which we build.
