WELCOME TO D-DAY 2012

VALKEN TO BE 2012 PAINT SPONSOR FOR OKLAHOMA D-DAY 2012 January 6, 2012 Wyandotte, OK – Swedesboro NJ

D-Day Adventure Park, Home of the “World’s Largest Paintball Event” and Valken Sports are pleased to announce that Redemption and Graffiti paintballs are now the “Official Paintballs of D-Day”! Redemption and Graffiti paintballs have become the paintballs of choice of the hard-core tournament players and dedicated scenario ballers alike. The rigorous conditions at D-Day are no match for Valken paintballs. Every bag is loaded with a desiccant pack to stave off humidity and each case is quad-core protected, allowing for maximum roundness and no crushing during shipping. Dwayne Convirs, Promoter of Oklahoma D-Day said, “Valken and their paint were the best choice for our 2012 event.” This company is dedicated to all levels of play and exceeded industry expectations by catering to scores of scenario events and by taking care of the stores and fields at a grass-roots level. We sincerely appreciate the recognition and opportunity to provide players at this week-long event with the best paint in the industry. I’m personally asking all Valken Corps members to attend and we look forward to seeing you at D-Day “ Oklahoma D-Day is not your typical “Big Game” where hundreds or even a thousand paintball players show up and attack one specific objective or play capture the flag. With 3,500 to 4,000 players that come to this event annually, it would be uncontrollable mass chaos. Rather, like the major campaigns of WWII, several battles unfold across the field throughout the day. All information for the 15th Anniversary of Oklahoma D-Day event can be found at www.ddaypark.com. Be sure to register early! Valken Sports’ Redemption and Graffiti paintballs, the “Official Paintball of Oklahoma D-Day” is also a distributor of thousands of items from over 50 manufacturers, including Plan-

FROM THE WW II ARCHIVES

Welcome to the January 2012 edition of The Oklaho-

Digging through some WW II records pertaining to the OSS (Office Of Strategic Services, we uncovered a contribution by the artists with the Walt Disney Studios. The proposed patch shows the popular Disney character Donald Duck using a hammer to smash up a pile of toys, which represents German infrastructure. Our research wasn’t able to determine if this proposed shoulder patch was ever actually issued or not.

ma D-Day Stars and Stripes E-Zine. This month’s issue offers a glimpse at vendor’s ads and loads of photos highlights from the 2011 D-Day Event. If you’ve got some photos or videos from 2011, or a story about the event or the unit you belonged to and you’d like to share it with the rest of us, please get in touch with us so we can insert it in the next issue. Same thing applies if you’ve got a suggestion or idea for a story you think we ought to cover. Finally, I’d like to take just a moment to wish everyone who helped make our third print edition such a big success.

People who’ve never been to D-Day have little clue as to what takes place there. This award, which is given by Allied Army commanders to their players is just one example.

"...This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother..." COMMONWEALTH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (Maroon Goons) Commanding Officer, Lt. General Ray (Sir Ray) Adams Aide de Camp- Brigadier Andrew "Ferg" Ferguson Force Sergeant Major- WO1 Mark "Bacon" Bacon British 3rd Infantry Division (Iron Division/3rd Herd) Commanding Officer- Colonel Drew "Ronin" Decosta The Royal Hussars are the armored fist of the Commonwealth, driving enemy forces before them and wreaking havoc wherever they roam. Few sights are more uplifting to a Commonwealth player, or frightening to a German one, then the sight of a Hussar tank anchoring a defensive line or charging up the roads at the head of an assault. Impervious to all small-arms fire, the Hussar tanks, supported by their mechanized infantry in the Royal Dragoons, can turn entire offensives on their own, driving back entire units with their guns. Fewer actions can break a defensive line or carry a charge like a charge from the Commonwealth's iron-clad cavalrythe Royal Hussars. 13th/18th Light Dragoons Commanding Officer Lt. Colt "Phoenix" Dickerson The Royal Dragoons provide the crucial mechanized infantry support to the Royal Hussars, covering their backs and flushing out anti-tankgunners wherever they try to hide. The Dragoons escort the tanks, clearing out ambushes and stopping flanking maneuvers-the tanks may clear the way for Commonwealth forces, but the Royal Dragoons clear the way for the tanks. Mounted or un mounted, the Dragoons have a symbiotic relationship with the Hussars. The Dragoons are the worst enemy of the German anti-tank forces. A Dragoon has to keep their head on a swivel and their fingers on the trigger, able to watch every angle and counter any ambush. East Yorkshire Regiment (‘Yorkies’) Commanding Officer- Lt. Dwayne "Mooney" Cox The East Yorkshire Regiment is tasked with assaulting Sword Beach, alongside the Canadian Scottish Infantry and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. One of the original founding Commonwealth units, the Yorkshires have a long history of success, with an almost perfect achievement record despite the overwhelming odds put up by the German defenders. Forming the anvil to the CanScot's hammer, the Yorkshires are known for their incredible tenacity in their beach assaults. With the grit and tenacity of their real-world counterparts, a member of the Yorkshires is tough and steadfast, never wavering despite the opposition and never willing to back down from a fight, allow a defensive line to fold or letting an assault falter. 41st Royal Marines Commando Commanding Officer- Lt. Kelly "Buckethead" Grimm The 41 Royal Marines Commando deploy behind German lines to cause havoc and disruption to the German defenses. RMC missions are frequently classified, without even other Commonwealth troops knowing their exact objectives-their missions come straight from the top. Equal parts ruthless and devious, the RMC use their small numbers and stealthy demeanor to sneak in, cause havoc and get out before the Germans even know they're there. A small, tight-knit group, the RMC rely on each other more than anything-each are trusted to know what their job is and to get it done, no matter what happens. Veritable jacks-of-all-trades, the 41st Royal Marines Commando will be called upon to do nearly any job-and called upon with the confidence that they'll get it done.

COMMONWEALTH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, CONT’D Royal Winnipeg Rifles Commanding Officer: Major Greg "AT49F" Choquette Reactivated for D-Day '10 in anticipation of a rebuilt Sword Beach and greater emphasis on AOR South, the Rifles join the Canadian Scottish Infantry and the East Yorkshire Regiment in assaulting Sword Beach. A blank slate, the Rifles are looking to carve our their own unique form i n the pursuit of victory. However, regardless of how they form, one thing is for certain-they will carry on the reputation for tenacity and hard fighting of the 3rd Infantry. In 2011, the 3rd Infantry were tasked with assaulting the entire southern AOR, completely unsupported, in order to tie up the German divisions in the area to prevent them from moving north and flanking the Airborne lead assaults on Coeville, Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Despite being complete unsupported, the 3rd Infantry took Sword Beach in nearly record time, and kept numerous German units bottled up in the city of Caen for the entire game, relentlessly sieging it with the support of the Royal Hussars for the entire day. Canadian Scottish Infantry Regiment Commanding Officer- Captain Pete "Paintball Pete" Russell" One of the units tasked with taking Sword Beach from the Germans, the Canadian Scottish Infantry form the spearhead of the Commonwealth’s Infantry assault. Formed in 2007, the Scots quickly gained a reputation for fearless charges, never passing up an opportunity to storm a trench or assault a bunker-anything to be kilt-deep in the thickest fighting on the field at any given point. A Scot is never found hunkering behind a bunker, hanging back and longballing. They live to charge the lines, storm the defenses and run the Germans out of their holes. Fewer things are more impressive than the sight of the Canadian Scottish Infantry punching through the German defenses-and, given their predisposition to the art of the charge, a common sight as well. British 6th Airborne Division (‘Red Devils’) Commanding Officer Al ‘General’ Murray 9th British Parachute Infantry Regiment Commanding Officer- Major Tim "Timboy" Barnett" Comprised mainly of the UK Scenario Team, the 9th British Parachute Infantry are the masters of tactics. Where the CanPara form the spearhead of the Commonwealth's airborne assault, the BritPara are the dagger, sent to capture key positions, cut off reinforcements and repulse flanking maneuvers. Extremely welltrained and experienced, the BritPara are some of the most valuable troops in the Commonwealth arsenal. A BritPara knows that, at D-Day, the most important assets are points, not eliminations. Never ones to get bogged down in meaningless firefights, the BritParas, with numerous years of D-Day experience and many more games played literally internationally under their belts, never fail to take their objectives and provide the crucial tactical support to a Commonwealth assault. 1st Canadian Parachute Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer: Chris "Tac-One" McLauchlan The largest and oldest unit in the Commonwealth, the 1st Canadian Parachute Infantry are the Commonwealth's shock troops. Inserting behind the German lines at game on, the CanPara are called on to seize the most important target and spearhead the toughest assaults. Formed of some of the best and most dedicated players the Commonwealth has to offer, the CanPara are one of the best-known and most effective units in the Allied army. The CanParas are formed almost exclusively of multiple-year D-Day veterans, with admission only by invite. Known for their ability to descend on an objective with the force of a hurricane, the 1st Canadian Parachute Infantry are the first choice when the Allies need an objective taken, right now.
