"At the Edge of the City" is a book about Beirut’s park and public space; it is a genuine, non-academic research and advocacy effort to document and critique park closure in Beirut (Lebanon) for almost 20 years now, advancing a “landscape” approach and framework to analyze semi-organized, quasi-connected events. The book hosts the original textual and visual works of over 25 scholars, professionals, journalists, activists, and artists. The book is supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung (Middle East Office) and published by the DISCURSIVE FORMATIONS initiative. The 192-page volume (B&W + color) is rich in research, essays, photographs (historical, contemporary, and aerial), infographics, and art work. Also, the book includes a poster (by Danny Khoury) and a documentary DVD (by Lasse Lau).
