TP-LINK MAINTAINS LEADERSHIP POSITION IN INDIAN WLAN MARKET WITH 24.9% MARKET SHARE

According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Wireless LAN Tracker, the Indian WLAN market had a YoY growth of 9.1% during 1Q22 majorly driven by the enterprise wireless segment. The market stood at USD 63.6 million (by Vendor Revenue). WLAN segment witnessed a growth of 9.1% YoY in 1Q22. While the enterprise WLAN grew strongly with pent-up demand from organizations coming through, the consumer wireless demand softened with offices reopening in the country. Enterprise WLAN segment exhibited a very strong 38.5% YoY growth while consumer WLAN declined by 20.8% YoY. Cloud-managed wireless had a good uptake in India owing to ease of deployment and manageability. Business in the enterprise wireless segment had a strong YoY growth of 38.5%. The services vertical, majorly characterized by IT/ITES, software

majors, consulting, e-commerce, etc. had doubled its revenue share (in comparison with 1Q21). Key reasons were owing to hybrid work, regular refreshes, and pre-planning of infrastructure buying considering the current delays. Education vertical witnessed spending on wireless infrastructure after a long slumber caused due to COVID-19. Cloud managed wireless witnessed gathering traction owing to simpler deployment and management. The cloud managed portfolio was considered an effective alternative to the regular vendor portfolio of access points owing to the increasing delays in shipments. With offices beginning to function in the hybrid mode, the consumer gateway routers declined by 20.8%. Wi-Fi 5 (AC) continued to dominate the consumer router segment followed by

N. AX has started to pick up steam in the consumer segment with ISP and online channels. However, AX is still not mainstream and is used only in low latency use cases. With a market share of 24.9%, TP-Link was the market leader in the WLAN segment during 1Q22. Within the enterprise class WLAN segment, Cisco

was the market leader with 24.1% market share followed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) with 22.5%.

As per IDC report, India shipped 14.8 million units of personal computers last year and recorded a 44.5% year -over -year growth. There was huge pandemic led demand because of work from home and online studies. We hope this growth keeps increasing in the coming years. Through DNS (Domain Name System) requests of IP addresses, the new technology detects requests to advertising providers from the entire traffic flow on the device. If the DNS request from the application is related to an ad provider, it is blocked, and the advertisement won’t be shown to the user. “The latency caused by sending traffic to the blocker’s server is often just as irritating as the advertisement. This new blocking method will potentially allow for an improved experience when using mobile apps. RAJEEV: WHAT WERE THOSE GAPS? MICHAEL: It was things like application and operating system failures or performance problems, network interruptions and some types of human errors. These represented a very large percentage of actual failures that led to downtime. So our founders decided to build a technology that was truly ‘application aware’ and could detect these types of issues along with traditional issues like hardware failure with the goal of getting our customers as close to zero RPO without the huge cost of active/active solutions that were only protecting hardware. Once you get under 30 seconds of recovery, the cost goes up 28

exponentially and many mid-tier and small businesses just can afford that level of protection. In recent times though, our customers have told us that they are experiencing downtime due to other operational issues like patching which created downtime, backup windows going into production

THINGS THAT DROVE YOUR BUSINESS? MICHAEL: Oh yes. As mentioned, we were a consultancy, and we build continuity plans for our customers. But in our experience, we observed what is called the “Anatomy of an Outage”. You probably haven’t heard of this before but in simple terms, when a systems goes down, its comprises all the manual human interactions that are not counted as part of the true recovery time objective. There are 4 stages of this process starting with Awareness, Resolution, Failover and Recovery. This starts with the system going down and the first people calling the helpdesk where the IT staff starts which is called the Awareness phase. This is essentially just understanding what just happened. Then the escalation process begins with the systems and applications team where they formulate a plan recover which is called the Resolution phase. That plan, when implemented by these teams which is called the Failover stage. Finally, the clean-up is full recovery along with root cause analysis and retrospective. This is Recovery stage. This entire process makes the real recovery time objective stretch into dozens of minutes or even hours. What Continuity Engine does is fully automate the Awareness, Failover and Recovery phases. It identifies application, OS and hardware issues (Awareness), then starts the workflow process to resolve the issue (Resolution). It then orchestrates bringing the systems back online in 30-90 seconds (Failover). This is our value proposition and has been for over 20-years. Automate as much as possible with intelligent, application aware failover so its essentially a fully hands off approach to business continuity.

RAJEEV: HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR BUSINESS GROWTH IN THE INDIAN MARKET? MICHAEL: As you know were in challenging times to say the least. We see wars, pandemics, climate change causing wild swings in the weather (typhoons, wildfires, heatwaves and catastrophic flooding), civil unrest, earthquakes, and many other things. India had the highest rate of ransomware events in the 31 countries surveyed. That is scary in any country! So, if it’s almost inevitable that ransomware will happen in an organization, the question becomes how to do get an off ramp when it does hit so your organization is not held hostage! There isn’t much we need to do to customize because the rules are best practice but can be tweaked if necessary. In fact, Continuity Engine can protect any application that runs on Windows out of the box. For over 50 applications that we protect very frequently, we have plugins that automate the protection rules setup of specific applications like Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, File & Print Services and many 3rd party applications and add advanced rules that monitor key performance indicators along with custom integration points that detect application outages.

RAJEEV: PLEASE TELL ABOUT YOUR SOLUTIONS & OFFERINGS FOR INDIAN CUSTOMERS. MICHAEL: So, we can recovery your mission critical applications from all the natural & human disasters, hardware failures, along with application failures and performance problems in 30-90 seconds. We also include minimizing downtime due to patching, ransomware and datacenter

migrations all in the one package. We have flexible licensing options also. 1. We have Term licenses that carry a minimum of 1 year. You can then renew the license at a fraction of the original cost (typically 30-35% of the license cost), to continue to use Continuity Engine for another year. 2. We offer multi-year license options also which can be paid upfront. 3. We also have rental licenses for the MSP market which require OPEX model.

LENOVO RETAINS NO. 1 POSITION IN GLOBAL PC MARKET WITH 24.8% MARKET SHARE Worldwide PC shipments totaled 72 million units in the second quarter of 2022, a 12.6% decline from the second quarter of 2021, according to preliminary results by Gartner, Inc. This is the sharpest decline in nine years for the global PC market, brought on by geopolitical, economic and supply chain challenges impacting all regional markets. The top three vendors in the worldwide PC market experienced declines in PC shipments in the second quarter of 2022, but their ranking remained unchanged. The combination of HP declining 27.5% and Dell declining 5.2% allowed Dell to move to within 0.3 percentage points of HP in market share. Apple was the only vendor to experience growth in the second quarter of 2022, driven by the popularity of the M1 device.

ESET RESEARCH DISCOVERS NEW CLOUDMENSIS THREAT FOR MAC USERS ESET researchers discovered a previously unknown macOS backdoor that spies on users of compromised Macs and exclusively uses public cloud storage services to communicate back and forth with its operators. Named CloudMensis by ESET, its capabilities clearly show that the intent of the operators is to gather information from the victims’ Macs by exfiltrating documents and keystrokes, listing email messages and attachments, listing files from removable storage, and screen captures. CloudMensis is a threat to Mac users, but its very limited distribution suggests that it is used as part of a targeted operation.

The BGMI Master Series, being broadcast live on primetime every day from June 24 to July 17 on Star Sports 2, clocked 1.2 million impressions on Day 1 and 12.3 million views through the first eight days of broadcast on TV.
